This video is all about drawing eyes, and placing them in the head at any angle. One of the toughest challenges facing cartoonists, and comic artists, is how to get the eyes to sit properly in the head at different angles, without having to resort to reference. We also go over the ways that eyes open and close, and the changes that happen when we look in different directions. That has a bigger impact than you may think!

Nobody ever focuses on emotions or expressions caused by the mouth. Smiling etc changes the eyes dramatically. The demonstration/lesson was very good. Thanks

I was a fan of your artwork even without knowing it was done by you, i still have that Superman poster which I got from comics. Thanks a lot.

I applaud you for describing your process from a logical standpoint (e.g. the eyeball sits in a skull, therefore the socket is the basis, therefore the eyebrow follows along its upper rim). A lot of art instructors on TH-cam struggle tremendously with conveying their information in a way that's feasible to somebody who just doesn't get it. Even understanding the structure of an eye, I've still tremendously struggled with grasping _why_ it's laid out the way it is, and you've helped me alleviate some of these headscratchers. I think Andrew Loomis put this best when he compared constructing a figure/face to a carpenter measuring a board before cutting it; you just have to do it every time, if you want to get it right.
Seriously, the best feeling an artist can have while studying is, "how could've I not figured this out on my own?" and I find myself thinking that all the time while watching your videos. Cheers.

This is so helpful! Thank you! The point on the indentation from the brow line to the start of the nose and also before the cheek bone make everything easier to understand! And thanks for explaining the bulging shape of the iris and its effect on how the eye looks at certain angles-it will help me so much as the eyes and nose are the most protruding parts of the face, thus needing as much detail and correct proportions as possible.
