    Completed. 100 days. It was great. Thank you.
    Stepping. Nostril inhalations. Better balance. Increased hand, torso, leg and shoulder strength.
    I started with 10 each but found that to be too easy. After about 20 days I increased to 21 repetitions each.

    Coming from a back ground in combat sports I hear a lot of negative things about aikido, how it doesn't work or its power rangers stuff. But I have always been interested in aikido, how graceful and fluid the movements are, the philosophy behind it, I have a dojo close to me and will begin my journey once the lock down is over. I'm sure it'll really give me a different perspective and compliment my current Shotokan training. 🥋

    • @Kevin_Symmonds
      @Kevin_Symmonds 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @Tai Chi Tube originally boxing, moved over to muay Thai and ended up training in MMA (never competed in any of them) however frequently sparred a lot almost daily. Hit my 30's became more concerned with the idea of CTE and the idea of long term brain damage and decided it was time to stop. Found a local Shotokan club (which initially I didn't want to do), surprisingly found myself enjoying it and never looked back, like I said I have always appreciated aikido, I would of started earlier but got put off by the payment scheme in place, but that has all changed so hey ho, I will be looking forward to starting

    • @Kevin_Symmonds
      @Kevin_Symmonds 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Tai Chi Tube I have not seen it happen before at least, for me it was personal choice, I had been doing it since 18 all through my 20's, I had no ambition to compete, never had a situation where I have had to defend myself luckily, so solely training to fight on frequent basis lost its purpose for me.

      If you are really interested in it and like what you see for what ever reason, don't be swayed by other's opinions. Go out and try it. Enjoy what you like not just what some loud mouth declares is the ultimate art. If you are not satisfied with one instructor then find another. Good luck with your studies.

    Hi,
    Im legally blind. In 2020 i strained my eyes to the point of functional blindness. I could still see. But keeping my eyes open caused physical pain. I didnt recover until 2021. Im a game dev, so im in front of screens all day. Having practiced martial arts off and on. I bought a suburito and found this video. Every year i come back and rewatch this video.
    Thanks for putting this together.

    Something that I got from Aikido. Is the 8 direction movement. I call it the Octagon. 8 sided circle. 8 technique on the left. 8 technique on the right. Hidare, Migi. I use many weapons and Aikido technique when use that patterns. Teaches how to move in that circle from one direction to another. Against multiple attackers. Just great training.

    I’ve been studying martial arts for 55 years. I started at a very young age of ten. At 65 I still train. I’ve studied 4 different styles of martial arts. Poekalan Tjimdie, Jeet Kune Do, Shotokan, and now Aikido. I’m proficient in all. I’m no master or anything like that. But I train seriously. The reason why I started Aikido was a long journey. I checked it out back in the 70s. And I poo poo it. Oh it’s not a real work out. Oh you have to go with it. And all that. So I stuck with my other arts. And was having much success at tournaments andeven on the streets. But as I got older,busier, and a little more mature. I notice that my Energy was deadly. My attitude was one of Aggressive Violence. Not that I would start anything. But man I would go off on people and dare them to make a move. One day on the freeway I wanted to chase this guy down and whip his ass cause he cut me off. But a little voice said to me. Sid is this what your martial art all about. This is not why you still study. So I sought out Aikido once again. Went to a class at the YMCA in Santa Rosa. Thought I was all that with 4 black belts. What a huge surprise. I was so wrong. I missed years of training with this beautiful, effective and most of all NON VIOLENT. And after studying O’Sensei philosophy. I new I found just what I needed. The philosophy of Aiki is peaceful, non - violent. And it’s not something you can just jump in and go I got this. This is one of the most subtle martial art I’ve known. It takes time and correct training. As we say in Aikido. SLOW IS FAST. Cannot express the importance of that statement. I instill it in all I do. I’m a guitar player. Same principles Slow is fast. I a house painter. Again Slow is Fast. Because I’ve paint every house the same way. A house a house. It’s the prep and focus of balance and system of application. AIKID HAS SO MUCH MORE TO OFFER. THAN JUST A MARTIAL ART. I heard it said. That we all use Aiki. You use it everyday. If not you would really hurt or kill yourself. Oss.

      I study Shorin Ryu! Matsumura (our founding father) taught methods of JIGEN RYU in his karate. This was a method of Japanese fencing if I’m not mistaken. I practice bokken (from AIKIDO) as a way to connect to the wooden sword fencing methods that Matsumura taught. This video/challenge/ and practice method is now something I use as that connection. I understand the Moreihei Usheba used the bokken as a method of ki extension. Can you help me with my journey from past masters to the forefront? THANK YOU!🙏
