  • Risk, Reward and the SECRET to Motivation with Josh Paul | EP126 | The SBL Podcast #126
You might know Josh Paul from his time with American rock band, Daughtry, but the scope of his career goes far beyond that. Over the years, he’s also worked with the likes of Suicidal Tendencies, Everlast, Kelly Osbourne, and The Veronicas. He also finds time to host the Dunlop Bass Freqs podcast. In this special interview from Bass Space 2023, Josh talks us through the ins and outs of his journey so far.
    In this episode
Josh looks back on 15 years with Daughtry.
What it was like joining Suicidal Tendencies.
    His approach to social media.
The advice he got from the Eagle's Don Henley.
His pointers for new bass players.
    And much, much more!

Great interview. What a journey he’s had. I’ve heard him play and this is the first time hearing him speak. He sounds a lot like Corey Feldman.

Great interview as always! Everyone in our generation has a memory with that Flea VHS. It was so cool for that era. Also, I love hearing about Josh’s reason for digging in. I played bass for the first two years without an amp so I developed that same technique. Took years to work on being able to play “softer” as I was learning Motown sounding like Geddy Lee. Good times!! 🤘

Around 2004, I became a huge fan of Infectious Grooves. It was the perfect complement to my favorite bands at the time: RHCP, RATM, Primus, Faith No More etc. I remember my surprise when, after purchasing the last album "Mas Borracho", I noticed in the booklet that there was another bassist listed besides Robert Trujillo, which was Josh Paul. It wasn't until about 2 years ago that I connected the dots that this Instagram turbo slapper I’m following is the same guy that played with Infectious. Incredible player!
