Flora MacNeil, MBE (1928 - 2015) was a traditional Scottish Gaelic singer. She learnt her songs from older female family members when she was a child. When she left the island of Barra, she took her songs with her, and had a long and successful music career beginning in the early stages of the British Folk Revival.

I wish I’d known this one contained sacred material it took me 25 minute to pleat and strap my Mac Neil Feilagh Mhor ,pure Irish Linen shirt I sewed myself and Bonnet.
I kid you not an iota. Not a speck.
To see Kisimul and Flora was so lovely it was painful; being so far from the soil and soul of those that spawned me. Family destroying clearances and vile Gold over Love of your Neighbour. It hurt, but reminded me who and where I came from and why I stand proud, where for all my errors, I stand clean and true among men I only wish could say the same. On Elan Bharra, I wouldn’t even have to bar the door let alone question my love for my neighbour.
After indescribable mass murder and the lies that adorned it, this moved me to tears.
The price of modern progress is too expensive; you cannot have my SOUL!
A Croft on Barra or Tiree with real community not an array of Cyber friends to busy to even acknowledge blessings , a sloop slipped by would see my days out musically ( 55 years classical training) with great joy and fellowship.
