    The new layout is looking great. I especially like how all your locomotives tell a story. And it’s not just the locos, you are telling stories all over your layout. they sure do resonate with me.

    Wow you've really got a lot done this past month. The engine facility looks great as do those new Dash-8 units. Interesting video with detailed description on locomotive servicing needs. Never thought beyond the sand and fuel that there was much more to service. I might need to rework my locomotive service track. Thx for another great video, appreciate all the work that goes into these.

    Superb work as always to complete the new yard, but I have to admit that the update I yearn to see (will have to be quite a few on this topic) is the helix and track connecting Ragland to the new yard. Major undertaking but it will allow the long leads needed on both the mains and the first yard tracks. Then you can really operate this yard as planned, receiving, sorting, blocking and making up the outbound trains.

    hey Tim, nice update! As usual, everything looking, running and sounding good. The ditch light problem is a known issue with ScaleTrains. It's happened on their run of Dash 9, GP30 and the AC4400. The contacts mounted on the underside of the cab do not make contact with the pogo pins. ScaleTrains recommends installing Kadee washers under the pogo pins to raise them to make contact. I did the opposite, I shaved the front coupler screw boss to bring it down to make better contact. Thanks, Terry

      @SeaboardCentral  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    hello tim !!! excellent video... the diesel service facility (dsf) is really comin' around and i cannot wait to see the completed project. my dsf is roughtly 2' x 8' and i am going to try the ak product as i do not really like the w. scenics plaster-type stuff. btw, your b's look real nice and are a true favorite of mine as i, too, have several areas on my pike that can only see 4 axle power. prototypically, and somewhat unfortunately, the b's were not liked well by actual crews as they ran real rough/bumpy...
    mine do great work, i think they are made by atlas, and are about 15-20 years old !!! keep the videos rolling !!!

    • @SeaboardCentral
      @SeaboardCentral  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks! I ran a lot of the B32-8s and they were fine. A lot has to do with Conrail power in general. All the ex CR stuff wasn’t maintained well and ran rough. The worst being the CW40-8s. They suffered from extreme lateral movement at speeds above 40 mph.

    NS Macon to Savannah doesn't have restrictions on locomotive axles. As in six axles not permitted. Pretty sure there is a total number of powered axles tho. However, the Georgia Central did. Not sure of the exact location they where not allowed to past heading east. Think that restriction is still on place entering the old SAL yard due to the tight curves.

      The SC went with a Blue and White scheme after the purchase of the Savannah State Docks Railroad in 1994. Personally, my favorite of all three schemes is the lighter blue and white scheme which is the same color as the boxcars produced by Homeshops, LLC.

    What’d you think of the B32’s compared to the B40’s, IRL? I’d always heard the B40’s were light on the nose and tended to wheel slip a lot

    • @SeaboardCentral
      @SeaboardCentral  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Honestly I don’t think it is a matter of weight, but just power. 4,000 hp on a four axle unit is a lot of horses per axle and if you come out too hard on them you’re probably gonna get a wheel slip. I really didn’t get many chances to run the B40-8s because they kept them up north for most of their careers and NS got rid of them pretty early since they weren’t that great in number. I did run a lot of the B32-8s though and they were pretty good work horses. Like the GP59s they were set up to run long hood forward and were originally purchased to handle the Road Railers but ended up in Intermodal and later local service. I remember having a pair of them with a GP59 on a short 204 hotshot UPS train and ran them like a scalded dog!

      That’s a felt drop cloth used to soak up the oil spills. I’ve seen it modeled with a black napkin. Unfold it to make it thin and then cut it into narrow strips. You can glue it down with Modge Podge.
