BIOGRAPHY

As the 90's progressed and smooth jazz artists began incorporating more hip-hop and classic R&B grooves into the music which came to define the genre, Everette Harp found himself ahead of the curve. Raised in church and weaned on gospel and soul music, the Houston born saxman on his first two Blue Note recordings, Everette Harp (1992) and Common Ground (1994), was already leaning this way, combining dynamic funk edges and urban textures into the mix. His popular 1997 tribute to Marvin Gaye's 1971 watershed album What's Going On combined the best of his two worlds, modern day contemporary jazz and the classic soul he grew up with. 1998's Better Days further solidified his place among the chart-toppers of smooth jazz. While on his previous albums, Harp sought to push the envelope stylistically and show off all of his abilities as writer, arranger, producer and player (even of straight ahead jazz), For the Love strips away the diversions and focuses purely on Harp's ability to convey powerful emotions via lyrical playing, beautiful melodies and sensuous rhythms.
While high ambition has always been Harp's trademark as an artist and performer, on For the Love, the saxman looked forward to the challenge of letting go of pretension, focusing on the love of song and above all, keeping things simple. "I've always looked upon each album as a learning experience, and for me that used to mean trying to fill each song with huge arrangements and every sonic idea that came to mind, scattering styles on the other songs once the radio tunes were recorded, and playing a lot of notes. But like George Duke has long told me, there is an art form to being simple and communicating honestly. The result, I believe is my most focused project to date." - เพลง
E-man, is a wonderful person, amazing musician.
Finally had the pleasure of seeing him at the Berks Jazz festival this past weekend -- was hoping I'd get to hear him perform this.... my all time favorite 😍! He's still Cool as ever ❤!
I met Everett Harp several years ago after a concert, he was so down to earth and accommodating... very classy guy, and extremely talented!
Real smooth 😊
Everette the man 😮
My favorite musician.
One of the greats on the sax everything he plays sounds smooth
Had the pleasure of seeing hearing and meeting Everette last year in NYC...he is such a energetic and powerful player yet so soulful and such a gentleman as well. He has been overlooked for too long and his return the stage is a tribute to his love of Jazz.....
Smooth Jazz at its Best::
My man Everette harp smooth he is dope for real😅
I remember this song on WDAS and smooth jazz WJJZ 106.9 in Philadelphia

Sweeeetttt. 💚💛❤👍🏽👍🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Thank you
How is the audience sitting still for this?
I asked the same question, he's so very energetic and the audience is as dead as zombies.
The best.
I'll say it. Smooth jazz radio would've been alive and well today if more the genre championed this kind of soul and passion. The history of the smooth jazz radio format is a classic example of failing while trying to please everybody.
We still have a few stations left Thank God
U r the best .
smooth jazz needs more EWI if you ask me. this stuff mixed with sax is fantastic. the same way steps ahead did it back in the day
.
smooth
I love that alto tone:)
this song is one of my favorite
Love this Piece rite here . Wow what a Jam
So sexy to see a man play so smooth, he's so talented
I've played this 100's of times. I wish modern artists would play extended tracks like this on LPs. I know 7:41 is long for a track in modern music but I feel so many miss out on artistry because of commercial constraints.
So HOT! Musically, spiritually + everything else. 1 of his best performances ever.
Good job frat!!! Bluuuu Phiiiiii!!!
The sound very nice! I like il !!
Michael Brecker also loved his Electronic Wind Synthesizer - the sax-o-synth, as my friend would insist.
Tone, articulation, energy, clarity, accuracy and range flavored with organic real jazz ornaments are winning ingredients for Everett Harp who is still somewhat underrated.
Shall like to witness an alto saxophone jam with Everette Harp, Gerald Alright, Nelson Rangel, Alex Han [not Alex HaHn, standard jazz purest of class], Randall Clark and Jody Espinol (sp) - all on alto sax.
These Jazzicians exude similar style - commercial funky grooves interspersed with enough organic real jazz fragments.
muito bom.dudukasax.
I wish that they had the patch that he is using on the EWI4000S. He makes that EWI sing! That's the best patch ever made for an EWI.
What's an EWI, I just know I love the sound
@@nanjacks913 electronic wind instument
Rick Jackson also on keyboards.
Thanks for that. I could tell which one was Brian Simpson, but was having a hard time tracking down the other guy.
This album is very hard to find.....
Please can someone tell me who is the bass player on this performance!!!!! Crazy crazy sick dude
Larry Kimpel also on the album this song is from.
