As a retired teacher and coach, I can tell you that nothing gives a student more confidence when a teacher shows such great enthusiasm when a student is successful. I love your teaching method. Not condescending or demanding, full of enthusiasm instruction and correction. Well done. Love your content. Wish I would have learned to fly but now I live my life vicariously through you.
Wow. That's incredible to read and I very much appreciate it! It's such a thrill to see someone succeed under your tutelage. It's a pleasure to be a part of and it manifests in my outbursts of elation at times haha.
I'm very fortunate that I was able to find Lewis and have him agree to take me on my first and second flight. I had no idea how much he was going to challenge me, I did not expect him to allow me to do so much with the aircraft at this point in my training. I appreciate his trust in me and I hope to learn as much as I can from him, so I can become a great pilot one day.
Love the positivity! Lew had this young man laughing and ready for more. I hope we get to see the rest of his journey on the channel! Great job to both.
That kid is a legend! Was really cool to see your enthusiasm for his abilities when he landed all on his own, and then right on the markers after that. I hope he comes back for more training and we get to see more videos of this natural born aviator - what a great video!
I truly believe some are born with this ability to truly understanding flight . I have witnessed this with my UPS pilot friends in all aspects of flight no matter what they are flying. Credit due to Lewis .
Just amazing. Such confidence and enthusiasm can't help but transform into competence. The danger is complacency, however. Keep skilling up, keep practicing, and keep learning, Lucas!
Loved the video Lew. I also love your passion for instructing and passing on the skill of flying. Totally infectious. It was so inspiring to see this talented young pilot and I wish him well in his future flying
Hella impressive! He’ll go far in this field so long as he can study as well as he flies. I say that not out of jealousy but from experience. I won’t lie to myself and say I was as proficient as this kid is by my 2nd flight lesson. However with a ton of flight sim time and 6 years of flying aerobatic model airplanes at a semi-pro level i caught on quick to the techniques of flying. However i failed my PPL written on the first go because i figured i could skate through without much studying. I was proven wrong on that. Super impressive to see someone young who takes to this so quickly! Absolutely a MUST that he continues down this path. The industry needs good hands-on pilots with a natural feel for the airplane.
Came for the impressive landings, left being more impressed with the alphabet soup taxi instructions with a runway crossing. I still get lost on unfamiliar taxi instructions.
For all of the student pilots who have unrealistic expectations of the minimum time requirements for solo and checkride, this kid may actually have to actively build time to get to the 40 hr minimum at this rate
@ all good I fly out of a really interesting place. Colorado high desert. It can be 100°+ in the summer and -20 in the winter. With a field elevation of 5200 ft
"I just fly planes on the simulator" i've been saying it for years, flight sim training, the advancement before you do real world training you'll excel immensely and be impressive with your CFI
The boy has some time in a simulator for sure. MSFS can really help build and maintain the fundamentals if you watch videos and practice in the sim the way you should do it in a real plane. That said, the young man will need some humbling to keep from getting a cocky hazardous attitude. :)
Hey mate! Love your videos as always! I've just become a CFI and I'm looking to improve how I teach landings. This was extremely helpful. Do you always teach throttle to idle once the runway is made? I've always left a small amount of power until my round out. Thank you in advance!
No way he was over confident.. not sure what you were watching? very nice kid, seems intelligent, and has a very astute, pro active, confidence boosting teacher... very good all round and bet it will have been a very well needed, confidence boosting experience for him. FULL of prasie and teaching. Perfect

Glad you enjoyed it man!
Phenomenal job! Both of you! Can’t wait to see his first solo, I don’t think it will take him too long at all!
You have no idea how much this kid is capable of-this is just the beginning of greatness. So proud of him!
YES YES!
YOOO this is my cousin!! Im so proud of him bro
what a kid.... brilliant, you need to make a series/feature with this guy Lewis... its a must!
Lewis you heard this man. ↑
👀
@@LewDixAviation you really should. Either him or me!
Dang! Good for Lucas, hope all us students were as natural as him haha! Excited to see him do soft field!
simulators truly help even before you fly the real thing, they also helped me a bunch before training, well done Lucas!

I also shocked my instructor with my landings. Different kind of shocked though 😱
@@nickm764 Shocked those struts as well did you? 😂
Outstanding performance👏🏻 well done
Commercial acs short field is crazy, power off 180s next with this kid and you can teach him the flap boost in GE if he's short on those
That is amazing. I see this young man being an amazing pilot one day

So proud of you Lucas!!! Keep it up!!✈️🫶🏻

Thank you, Coops! I love being part of successes like this.
Awesome, I got my ticket a year ago and this kid is impressive.
Hilarious lough 😂 - other than that, amazing young and talented fella!

... and for the first time Lew has nothing to say! LOL! Well done Lucas!
@@mikeperry2814 thank you man!!
About time, yea?
You should try his glasses for their excellent coverage and baseball player vibes
The VR simulators (most notably X-Plane 12) are underrated
Agreed. They don’t simulate everything perfectly but they can be a big help as Lucas proved.
Great landings, Lucas! It's solo time!
I noticed Lewis was trying to sabotage the kid. 🤣🤣
Good job Lucas.
I did everything I could 😂
This is going to be one of those "first solo at 10 hours" kinda stories isn't it?
I can see it happening.
🤷♂🤷♂🤷♂

I like the video first time I commented but I liked this post good flying keep it up 😊
Fred, your comment is a brilliant one! Thanks for joining the conversation my friend!
Very very cold in Orlando 😂😂 laughs in western Colorado.
Haha I knew I’d get some backlash on that 😂

Taking my time and learning everything! I will say though 1800 hours on flightsim HELPS ALOT! :)
This is BANANAS!!!!!
Characters from "Finding the perfect student pilot" are NOT fictitious.
Hope the young man doesn't make you remember Caleb and Junior 😂😂😂

Legend
As a cfi I'm fully expecting a good around on the 1st approach, to do a full landing cfi hands off is crazy
It’s absolute insanity 🫢
Bro is speed running aviation. Physics and philosophy next.
He’ll end up teaching me … watch 👀
Your jacket is sick
He’s ready for his check ride
I wish LOL
I gave him my certificates. He's taking over.

Sims do help. Great power management.
I'm still shocked at how well he did.
after watching this kid, all I can say is....I suck.
Nah no way man! He’s still got work to do like the rest of us. You’re great!
@ it took me like 100 landings before I could land as smooth as he was
Wow, nice.
why'd you make the switch back to Bose? do you like them more than the light speed?
Wow...
The boy is on the verge of being OVERCONFIDENT. Please nurse the boy .
I learn as I go and take my time. No cockiness here.
