I charge 2.35 to 2.45/sqft for prep and install. To my surprise using your 708sqft example. It came out very close to your hourly rate. This makes me feel good about pricing. Thanks for this.
Thanks for sharing!

You are welcome!
Love the videos man keep it up. Do you stick with the 1.5 / 50% markup rate for all materials? Mulch, plants, rock, etc… thank you.
Thanks for the positive feedback brother! Yes we keep it generally the same across the board.
Great 👍
Thanks Victor!
Great video Mr. Will did you have to add in the price and delivery for top soil or sand to level ?
You will need to add those costs if you are adding those. For our sod jobs we don’t normally need fill dirt.
How would I estimate the amount of hours if it’s the first time I’m doing a sod job
I’d call a local buddy who’s done it before to help you quote the hours. Or if you don’t have anyone just know you’re likely going to lose money on it but just look at it as you are paying for the education to learn.
Do you charge $80/hr no matter how many guys you have on the job? If not how do you go about adjusting? Thank you
Yes. When we quote the job we base it off if only 1 crew member was doing it to get the total man hours.
Now is this 80 per man hour ?
Yes
I charge by sqft and I alwyss rent a bin, all I do is sod
Nice!!
For 708 sq feet you get $2,490?
That’s like $3.51 per square foot
$2350 for 2 pallets?
Roughly 2 or 3 pallets is typically what a front lawn is in our area.
@@TheWillKelly do you do anything different with bulk sales? I got 59 pallets of sod I need to install not sure how I should price it
If it was bulk like this I'd recommend cutting the material markup down a bit. Instead of 30% You may want to go down to only a 10% upcharge on material.@@48andrewb
@@TheWillKelly I’m at 75% markup for material only
@@TheWillKelly pallet cost $250 selling it for $450 per with around 2k for labor
