What is your thought on using fabric under mulch? It seems like weeds and grass - the stuff the fabric is intended to stop or slow - still grow through it, so not needed??

I would suggest charging per shrub, plant, tree, etc a rate that makes sense, so when pricing to customer you can explain in a way that benefits both parties. I dont think "Rushing" the work is essential, because then you gonna get customer complaints, due to quality of work. Simply price properly to give the best service & quality.

I pay $37 to lawn mowing. And 3 people need to work for 10 mins. Thats about $70 per hour per person. And you make $600, that gonna be 9 hours per day. I live in the 2nd most expensive area across US. And just noticed you use push mower. You really work hard!!! And I have 6000 sqf lawn. So for a 8000 sqf lawn, my current company will charge $40~$45.

If you have poor route density, it's not your worker's fault. Route density and having a "well-oiled machine" as in a rig that is set up for efficiency, having trimer string pre-cut and making sure that anyone trimming has trimmer string on them so they don't have to walk back to the trailer to refill. Check fuel levels just a glance at a blower, edger, trimmer or gage on mower can save us a walk back to the trailer. Also, I concentrate on yards with no fences or gates. I like your pay for performance idea.
