    This should be learnt in all schools. Kids need to be more aware of this so they can be the best versions of them selves and for the next generations to come.

      Why would a school want to empower students? Then they won't obey authority, and therefore won't obey government. Students should be kept dumb and unaware of reality of course, then they can be easily controlled. How else will we have worker drones to serve the higher ups? Of course there should only be 1-3% of individuals in power, and the rest must be their servants! We can't be servants if we're empowered, duh!

    This Is a highly UNDERRATED video. Probably one of the few useful videos on TH-cam about this topic. There’s way too many so called self help gurus these days

    • @dbsk06
      @dbsk06 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      soul brain pretty much the majority of self-declared “self help gurus”. self help is a very American type of industry. Yes, an industry. It exploits people who are vulnerable and profits. If someone is very serious about changing himself/herself, he/she could easily read the classics such as tao te Ching, the stoics (Seneca, Aurelius, etc), nietzche but the language is dense and it takes a lot of patience. They’re classics for a reason and influenced movements and massive populations. Self help gurus just “translate” (not always correctly) and rehash these classics and they’re not even credible themselves. The people who created the secret profited off its production; they didn’t become wealthy as whatever the job they had prior yet that’s what they’re selling.

      @@dbsk06 just because these take time to learn = doensnt meant the key and important ideas cannot be transmitted to a wider market. You dont need to be a book worm to enjoy the fruits of great minds. Solution is to watch Jordan Peterson videos and do some reading, put ideas into practice, and reflect. Its more useful to think of this kind of infomation as liberating and helpful opposed to only for elitists, while critical of the capitalist motivtions behind the source of the information on here.

    I feel like I've hacked into my brain too much for too long. I went in again and realized I don't have nearly as much negative thoughts and beliefs anymore and there is no point to going into myself and rewiring the good I have built. This stuff works. With this exercise, I realized I now have positive beliefs and emotions that serve me well. So just know there are times when it is unnecessary to re-engineer yourself.

      @@yasmine2579 watch videos on gratitude and acceptance of self to change the emotions you associate with yourself and those beliefs. And do as he said and refrain from believing those thoughts. You do that by asking questions. A lot of times those thoughts are extreme so when you find yourself thinking “ I am a loser” for example ,ask yourself: “does everyone see me as a loser?” And then remind yourself that someone at some point in time has liked you. This is how you become the skeptic of that belief like he said the more you practice the more you will realize that the belief is extreme and sometimes irrational and the more you realize that it is not a full representation of who you are. It is just a perspective. Then through gratitude you’ll change the emotion associated with that belief and with how you see yourself

    Five years of wasted time in psychotherapy; and I discovered these exact principles years later...by myself. I liken early adoption of (negative) core beliefs to imprinting...a very visceral and deeply held programming. I still need help to understand how to completely reprogram my remaining negative core beliefs. They are tenacious. I will buy your book this week.

    I feel like this video should have WAY more views! This is some of the most useful, in-depth material on belief systems that I've come across!
    So many self help/success/motivational speakers go on about how beliefs create reality but few give you the necessary details to actually change them! This is the missing piece in that puzzle.

  • @simonbreidert5683

    You just summarized very beautifully and clear what took me years to figure out myself - even more than that. I think that is the best video on the topic. More therapist should apply your principles. Together with working with first principles I believe that is the most powerful technique for lasting change and happiness. And it works sooo fast, once you look for evidence that doubts your believes. Hope to hear you spread this knowledge!

    I'm in a terrible emotional state right now, as I hate feeling like a weakling that people can bully, especially physically. I have people that can lay down their lives for me, and even be my body guard. But I really hate the thought of that deep down inside me. I relish the thought of being a hero that can fight to the death, but feel very bad when my fear of being hurt takes over. It makes me feel lesser and not good enough. I hate to fill like a coward that can't fight.
    This has made me feel emotionally overwhelmed for days now, as people can see through it that I'm a coward, and only mouth off about doing wicked things to them if they mess up. This has made them see me as a toothless bulldog, and make them misbehave to me in profound ways I can't imagine.
    What can I do about this Gary?

    This hit too close to home with me.
    I'm always worried that other people think I'm stupid and I never want to be wrong.
    I try not to engage with people just in case I say something stupid, or get interrupted which makes me feel like I'm not important/being valued.
    I was also talking to my wife yesterday about how I would find it hard to change how I feel when the kids are crying. I was trying to explain that I have a physiological response when they're crying. I often get angry in these circumstances and I'm not sure why. But I know it's better for me to leave the room when it's happening because my response is very hard to control and it completely unhelpful.

    I enjoyed listening and learning what was expressed in this presentation. It was clearly and logically expressed. I agree with everything except the EMDR. I know it's application has been successful for some people. However, it did not work for me. I'm extremely intuitive and was not able to process my childhood neglect and abandonment issues. So, I will attempt to become skeptical and neutral. That part made more sense to me. Thank you for the great info. Chuck

    • @garyvanwarmerdam1206
      @garyvanwarmerdam1206  ปีที่แล้ว

      EMDR does not work for developmental trauma, so it is unlikely to be of benefit in your situation where it was an environment of that for a long period of time. Since trauma and attac;hment level changes happen at the nervous system level you will need to explore approaches that change the regulation of the nervous system.

    For me the hard part is the skepticism and doubt. In my mind, all of my (self-defeating) beliefs are anchored in hard facts, and the counter evidence seems to me to be flimsy and uncompelling. Ask anyone else and they'll see it the exact opposite of how I do, but I haven't been able to budge in that respect even after decades of trying.

    Thanks, good info here! Personally I'd submit that folks who tend to have 'belief' issues are largely ones who lack a strong sense of awareness. Perhaps it is an inability to be able to hold an idea before the mind long enough to subject it to critical thinking. I find that a lot of the frustration I have experienced, trying to hold intelligent discussions on lets say politics or religion, come because folk cannot seem to access their skeptical brain, but remain largely entrenched in their conditioned, habitual state. Almost as if having a reflective thought has never occured to them.
