It's highly unlikely that you'll brick it trying to unlock the bootloader. Bricks usually happen when people flash firmware before it's unlocked or flashing incorrect firmware. Being that the pixel 4 is multiple years old, there's probably a fix for bricking. I'd search around on the XDA website for bricked pixel 4 or something like that.
