Great job Carol. I know there's more to do, but it's come way closer. Don't you dare cut into your good fabric until you are completely happy with the fit. For the twals, i wouldn't cut out the full length of the leg, maybe only down to the knee to save on fabric. Buy the cheapest fabric you can find or use old sheets for twal fabric. If you get frustrated with the pant fitting, set it aside for a little bit. Even though it's a lengthy process getting the pants just right, once it's done, it is done. You'll be able to make several pairs, and you can use the finished pattern to adjust other patterns.
I'm right there with you, Joann! I don't want to cut into my good fabric until I'm sure about the fit. I like your idea on making toiles. I want to check out the Joanne's Fabrics near my house because they once again filed for bankruptcy, and I don't think they plan on reorganizing - just going out of business - and I want to try and find some super cheap fabric to use for making muslins and fitting!
Your persistence is paying off! The pattern piece might be different but the pants are looking good. I am looking forward to seeing what else you learn along the way.
I have a flatter bum but a big tummy, so full tummy adjustments are my go-to. I've been sewing for 55 years and always make pants/trousers, including ones with zippers.
That's great, Penny! I'm going to give the full tummy adjustment a look, because that's definitely one of my fitting issues. It's so cool that you make pant and trousers - because so many of us have a hard time fitting them. You should start a TH-cam channel and teach us all!
Oh I am really impressed with your progress! I have that book - I really should have a look and try that method. I also want to try the Nancy Zieman method for fitting pants and see what I get from that. I will be following your progress because I am feeling very motivated to give pants another try.
I'm glad you're feeling motivated, Izzy! I'll be curious to see how the Nancy Zieman fitting method works. I found that I have absolutely no separates to wear; well, plenty of tops, but no bottoms to wear them with. I'm hoping to fit maybe two or three pants patterns this year and make a couple pair from each pattern so that I can mix and match some separates.
Great Debbie! I'm really glad to hear that someone else has had to do the same adjustment. Although it's in my book, I've never seen/heard anyone on TH-cam do that particular adjustment. How did the overall fit of your pants turn out?

Bravo on your journey of chasing after better fitting pants. Your bravery inspires and encourages me.
Thanks, Mary! 💐
You’re doing a great job. Thanks for bringing us along the journey with you.
I'm glad you're enjoying it, Estelle! Are you back from Japan now? I hope you had a nice vacation. 🛫
@ yes I’m home, looking forward to Saturday.
Hi Carol. I'm sorry you are feeling yucky. Feel better. Your curve on your pant pattern is adorable!😅
Thank you, Zelda! 😊I hope I start feeling better too - it's keeping me from sewing!
Hope you feel better soon. You’re doing a great fitting job with the pants - going down a good journey! Thanks for sharing.
Ditto, ditto, ditto!
Thank you! I'm really trying to learn how to adjust pants patterns. It's definitely a journey!
Baby steps. It will be so rewarding to have a really good pair of well fitting pants.
That's what I'm trying to tell myself, Lori. I'd rather go through a couple of toiles and have a great fitting pair of pants than rush the process. 👖🧵
Excellent video. I’m done with my knit tops and will be cutting pants muslins soon!
Thanks Renee! I'm looking forward to seeing what you make!

Thanks for the encouragement, Lorraine! The pants are coming along slowly but surely!

Polly, I had to do the same adjustment to my muslin. What a difference it made to the fit to my attempt to make a pair of pants.

@ the fit adjustment worked great. I am going to cut my fashion fabric now.
