      Here is.. THE EASIEST way to fix this. If you are watching on Twitch just link the youtube video in chat and have everyone open it muted in a new tab. The original video, so the creator gets the view and the runtime. No idea about the youtube react reupload solution

We do not want to watch a brb screen cause we aren't all autistic fucks so if Hasan does leave the stream for 2 or 3 minutes to piss or let his dog out to piss or shit he better leave the video on. Not to mention that all this react polemic is straight up stupid cause streamers literally give TH-cam creators audiences they otherwise wouldn't have ever had. Idk, I don't like the Adver-net in general. Much prefer actually just having an option to pay for the content. I think TH-cam Premium should be cheaper for single users, or on a Pay-Per-View basis, basically how in the past you would pay your internet provider per data consumed. Right now I use Premium Family, and with converted costs of 3-5$ dollar per month, while I literally watch dozens to a hundred hours per month, it's pretty affordable. But I wouldn't pay 12$ for just myself I think. If you are interested: My current streak is a year old an I watched >1,150h according to the metrics. That is... 1150=17€*12=204€ | /1150... ~0.18€ per hour just on my account, not counting my family's accounts. Tbh I am in the camp against react streamers because it's unbelievably lazy. And by react streamers I do mean the laziest forms of it. I personally want a lot of youtubers to get together and put an end to it. Because then what's going to happen is you'll have all the multi millionaire streamers who will find themselves without content to steal, so then they'll be forced to actually make an effort / create their own content or fade into obscurity. That's what I want. Actual meritocracy. What we have now isn't based on merit, it's a bunch of cliques. You're either in one of the cliques or you're not.
    I just think in principle this shouldn't be a thing. The more you steal content the more your channel should be penalized, the same way if you curse too much or talk about mature subjects you are penalized.

Hasan was just a great example of it happening because Hasan did a nonreaction to one of Jay's videos AND had arguments for why it was alright to have the non-reaction. As for your other points specifically about Hasan, you have to have not paid attention to any of the video if you didn't hear all of what you said addressed. Jay literally talked about how Hasan does have a number of reactions that add a lot of commentary to the video and are transformative. It still doesn't mean that it is right to leave for several minutes in the middle of a video or to sit there and say nothing for nearly the entire video. I want to contest the idea that "straight playing a video game without commentary isn't transformative." • @Winasaurus
      @Winasaurus ปีที่แล้ว +9

      He said it depends on the game. Story games and walking sims where it's the same every time are going to lose sales the more people watch them. But things that are heavily gameplay based are fine because you can't enjoy the gameplay of a game without playing it, and your playing would be significantly different.
      Eg, streaming minecraft, a-ok. Streaming a visual novel, probably not ok. Because I can just not buy the visual novel and watch the guy playing it.

      @@Winasaurus Even with something like a VN where all you've done is screen-capture the entire thing and added/changed nothing, I'd argue that fair use could still apply although it would be an uphill battle. But you're probably only showing a single route, and you could be adjusting the pacing or drawing attention to certain aspects because of your timing, for example.
      But to be blunt, I don't think anybody is losing sales even like this, because nobody is going to sit through someone else playing a VN and offering nothing else if there was any chance they were going to buy the game anyways. In general, the exposure is worth more than any potential lost sales.

I am now subbed to and view content from Audit the Audit, channel 5, daily dose, internet historian, Ishowspeed and multiple political channels I may have never been exposed to or decided to give the click otherwise. A good 50-60% of my downloaded music I also get exposed to through react content. In my opinion react content significantly increase a smaller channel or videos reach, acts as an imported social tool to maintain knowledge of current affairs or trends and broadens the general layman's propensity to diversify and increase their study/watch pool. A net positive for creators and viewers

    • @cdubsb3831
      @cdubsb3831 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@getrektscrub1713just because you subscribe to some of the channels, notably large ones in their own right, doesn't mean react content massive boosts smaller channels. Especially in the cases where artists arent given credit. Hasan is the largest streamer and Jay showed that the coverage of his video netted only about 7 subscribers and 40 cents of ad revenue. With Jacksfilms investigating of Sssniperwolfs tiktok reacts, she's making thousands each video from other compilation channels stealing from independent artists who have proven to get zero extra views on their original work. So no, you subscribing to big channels because of exposure doesn't prove any proportionate benefit.
      Music is a different medium to videos because the general demand is for clean and uninterrupted audio files you can play whenever you want. The only incentive you really have to subscribe to Internet Historian is on the offchance you miss a video react during a livestream.
      And finally, just because it COULD possibly lead to exposure which it won't in a lot of cases, doesn't mean the react streamers are acting ethically for operating under implied permission until they receive repeated pushback and move on to the next small artist who might be unable to dispute it. You should either ask permission or have work transformative enough that you don't need to ask.
      Intuitively, I don't think react content proportionately helps smaller streamers with exposure. The way these sites and the advertisers push for longer video engagement and consistent output is disincentive to the quality content smaller creators are trying to pump out. Everything is weighted instead in the favor of the content aggregator who is rewarded for pushing out multiple react videos a day, who built their foundation on the efforts and talents of more dedicated and struggling artists pushed towards advertisements to make up the cost. As good as IHs videos are and his massive success, he will receive a fraction of the money compared to the reactions of his content and all the superchats and ad revenue they're receiving. And the only way that can be ethical rather than parasitic is through transformative effort.

    I just don't understand Destiny's stance on the whole "just DMCA" the video someone stole. It's like you can "just ask" if you can react to their work... Not only are reactors leaving all the work of creating the work they react to entirely to the content creators, but they also want to leave the work of policing all reactors who stole their work to them as well. It's just wholly unfair and just plain fucked to force these content creators into such a situation. Your not only stealing people's work, but your giving them more work at the same time. That's just stupid and so backwards. Reactors should be thankful that any content creator would let them use their work, but instead they go the entitled route and act like their owed something from the content creators they steal from. I just don't get it.

      @@FentyCola559 You missed my point entirely. The tool is there. I acknowledged that and it should be used by people who feel like someone is unfairly stealing their work. My point is, why is the work forced on the content creator to DMCA, INSTEAD of the reactors asking for permission? Again, the streamers are telling content creators to not only keep creating their content so they can steal, but making them go to every channel to look through them to see if they are fairly using their content and deciding whether they should DMCA or not. How the fuck is that not wholly unreasonable for content creators and completely selfish on the side of the reactors? Give me a good reason why reactors shouldn't have the responsibilty of seeking permission than the other way around? And don't misunderstand. The reactors still put more responsibility on the content creators by seeking permission. But at the very least, a content creator can put on their channel info page whether or not anybody can react to their content, or give info on where to ask for permission. Reactors SHOULD have full responsibility to find whether or not they can or cannot react to someone's work.

    • @zzestyranchdipp4506
      @zzestyranchdipp4506 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      The "just DMCA" argument is to show that react isn't an issue, bc if it was there would be an easy fix by "just DMCA". "force these content creators into such a situation" is spending 90 seconds to fill out the DMCA form according to Destiny. You would only have to do this once or twice before no one reacts to your videos. "stealing people's work" implies you are significantly depriving them of the gains from their videos by reacting, which has not been demonstrated afaik. Stop acting like it's a massive injustice being forced upon smaller creators, and even IF it was, the remedy already exists in the form of DMCA claims. This reaction is overblown.

      That doesn't lend itself to the content-type well. Reactors are clicking links chat sends them or through twitter, discord, etc. You're basically asking them to ask an enormous amount of people every day, who may not even ever see the message, or may not respond in an adequate enough amount of time for the streamer's audience to care (old news, already watched from another streamer). The most reasonable and most likely to happen approach is asking them to *at least* put the channel name out there (which Hasan wouldn't even do). Then at least there's an alternative direction for the audience, and some of that audience will inevitably let the creator know Hasan/xQc/whoever watched their video and they can take any action if they think it's necessary sooner.

    A copyright protection term of only 1-5 years would severely devalue intellectual property, meaning that creators would be able to make farrr less money from selling their IP to companies. The investment would be worth next to nothing for those companies (record labels, publishers, production companies, etc.). This would severely impact most creators. I think you only believe it's stupid because people like you (streamers) would be of the very few people who would benefit highly from being able to rip others content. Just because you don't benefit from the law as is doesn't make it stupid, Destiny.

    Absolutely insane that destiny couldn't see the validity in the redditor's opinions. And I could hear it in mauler's voice that he partially agrees with the redditor''s opinions just like I did, despite their obviously overly-dramatic way of speaking.
    The main topic of the validity of 'reaction content' is swept under the rug by Destiny, despite the obvious distinction between actually engaging with content vs using the content as the main attraction. I do not think that twitch streamers should be legally banned or restricted in any way from streaming content in general. A caveat is that I agree with Destiny's view that there needs to be some amount of copyrighted time where this is not ok, to help make a distinction between fake reaction content, where people are using the reactor to merely view the original content for free, and true reaction content where the viewer is watching the content because they are invested in the streamer/youtuber/community. And this is where things get fuzzy, as Destiny seems to obviously feel: intention. Does Hasan intentionally use stolen content for his streams? I would say yes in this specific case. But my main argument would be that Hasan has gotten so used to twitch streaming culture that he cannot see the moral implications of his actions, and then justifies them because he is supposed to be the 'good guy'. On the other hand, plenty of streamers stream live TV events like show premiers and boxing matches, and they obviously know that they're just utilizing other content for the sake of their own gain. Sometimes this is less egregious because they're profiting from mult-million dollar corporations who have it coming.
    I do, however, think that it is a moral failure to use other independent people's content without adding anything or crediting them.
    In the example for instance, that Destiny says he watched a documentary without adding much to it, I can find that valid as long as he provided significant credit to the original creators, and adhered to his own '1 year' rule. As a steamer you won't always know if a piece of media will provide you with anything to comment on. As a regular person sometimes media just makes you nod your head and say 'ok' or 'that's awesome', or 'that sucks' but as a content creator you must at least credit the people you cover. And in JayExci's example, Hasan did not do his due diligence. It seems to me the best course of action from Hasan would have been fessing up to the fact he didn't provide substantial credit to the original creator "Hey guys, I wasn't paying much attention during that time of the stream, I should have put more emphasis on shouting out and providing links to the original creator. I was distracted at the time and it was a minor mistake. Please go to Jayexci's channel and give them some support and love, and see if you might be interested in their other videos!" Instead his pride took control, and he refused to admit any wrongdoing, when he could simply have admitted to accidental and non-malicious wrongdoing.
