    iv only been meditating for about 2 weeks and this is the deepest iv went i turned off auto play and meditated for almost 2 hours and it was like i wasnt in this realities time frame if that makes sense like i was just so calm and just could hear everything but nothing snapped me out of it but anyways with the time i knew i was meditating for a while just i didnt know this long and it was like i was floating but also one with everything and it was just so peaceful also i felt almost like a soft pulse threw my hands and feet and i also did drift off a little bit in a few dreams but i knew i was in it so i went out of it basically almost lucid dreaming just it was like these dreams were made out of nothing like i cant explain it but can anyone explain what i felt or what happened threw this whole experience ?? also i think i almost astral projected or something cus iv always wanted to do that and i knew i was so deep that i could do it and i imagined my soul or higher self kind of coming out of this body and i felt it a little but it was like it kept restarting me back in the same spot and i had to keep coming out of my body but also i never actually went fully out my body, idk if you will understand what i mean but if you do could you also tell me maybe what happened on that

Then right at the end he says, "Or you can do this . . ." And he lets out HUGE LAUGHTER, laughing and laughing and it's a close up on his face and anyone who has had the blessing of hearing this man's laugh will get this immediately -- INSTANT ENLIGHTENMENT!! I wish I could find it but look for it. It's one of the rare actual videos of him which are not part of his public television series.

    • @adamasciak7194
      @adamasciak7194 3 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      It's probably ok to understand them but the point is letting the understanding happen by itself. Sometimes, instead of simply understanding we create chains of thought - "Oh a cat meowed. That's my cat Charlie. I should feed her soon. Speaking of food, is it lunch already? What should I have for lunch?"
      Just imagine how annoying it would be if you had a person standing next to you voicing all of these obvious insights and judgements.
      Instead of telling yourself that it's your cat you just sense that it's true and move on to a new sound.

    Hey sup guys, the other video with music blocks comments so i wanna put it here.
    I tried this but i am really doing what he says we shouldnt.
    I really try to identify, repress and force the noices. I even take noices personal ...
    I dont even know how to explain this.

    • @NoMercyFate
      @NoMercyFate 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      So ask yourself why you do this. I don't think I can explain it any better then Alan Watts did but try not to see meditation as an effort or exercise.
      It's pretty much just observing an experience, like if you are lying in the grass in the sun, don't think about how you feel about the sun shining on you or the grass lying beneath you. Dont think about how or why it does that but instead just try to feel everything there is to feel.
      I totally get what you mean by the way :P But it takes some figuring out to get over this, think about why you do this and why you want to meditate, educate yourself and don't give up if it seems hard at first! Good luck man :)

    • @oldkidsjonge
      @oldkidsjonge 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I would say that you take the noises personally (good or bad) because you have an expectation or wish for the sounds to go this and not that way. Not that that's bad or good, just something different from the video :D

    • @mariekevds9277
      @mariekevds9277 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey! I personally think that it's good to keep trying. It's not about the fact that you can't exactly do what Alan Watts says, but as long as you keep trying to do so, you will experience that the thoughts and sounds will fade out to the background and you will reach the meditative state. I experience when I'm not feeling well mentally, the proces of not identifying with the sounds is harder, because I think my brain is very active(thinking, worrying, judging). It helped me to teach myself more abou the monkey brain(buddhism). This is the conscious part of the brain that generates the thoughts. With practice in meditation you learn to dim down the monkey brain. It's a long story to explain in a youtube comment, but it was really valuable information for me in my journey with meditation and finding inner peace (still looking though!). there are lots of videos on youtube about this! Don't worry about the results, it's the journey that counts and one day you'll get there.
      I hope this helps! Have a nice day!

      Remember the value you gain from practice is not achieving a quiet mind but just noticing the thoughts that arise.Just notice the thoughts and then let them pass.If you can notice the next thought you are already doing really well.

    I understand that EVERYTHING is simply an happening and that we have to be aware of that and observe it so that we can get in the meditative state.
    But I still don't understand arbitrary happenings, he said that you can call breathing as an arbitrary happening, but what else are arbitrary happenings? For example: talking with your friends, studying for school, sitting in the bus, listening to music etc (Or is EVERYTHING an arbitrary happening)? Or maybe a better way to ask: what is the principle behind arbitrary happenings?
    Also, is this guide only used to get in the meditative state? Or is this guide also applicable in everyday life? I just want to make sure I have the point of what Alan Wattson is trying to tell us to get in the meditative state correct in my mind. Thank you in advance for helping me understand what he is trying to tell us :)
    Edit: It's the hard and fast division you make between voluntary and involuntary actions (happenings) which is arbitrary, lol. I get that part now. Still, if you want to summarize this guided meditation or give me tips, please feel free to leave a comment. I really want to know what you have to say :) Have a good day!

      What I understand is that you just need to learn to be in the present. It's not easy at first but you can get better over time.

    Do you have to be like a little bit on present moment or just fully relaxed even if your thoughts carry you away? 🤔😊

      Just Be ;) don't force or try anything. Just relax and whenever your mind wanders of and you recognise it, gently bring it back to the present and just be once again.
