That's called a chiasm and there's a TON of chiasms in this movie.
Think about it. Who hands her the basket at the end of "the family madrigal" when it's revealed she doesn't have a gift. The "not special- special". He's the one who hands her a basket of tools when "everyone in town" "has no gifts but we are many and we'll do anything for you."
At the beginning of the movie, it opens with Abuela saying to Mirabel "abre los ojos - open your eyes"... this song ends with her singing to Mirabel "open your eyes - abre los ojos".
The beginning of the movie has her door disappearing and her ceremony not working... it ends with her placing the doorknob and the magic coming back.
She walks Antonio to his door. He walks her to hers.
And so on.

@@briandhinton Yeah but it definetly wouldnt have fitted in this movie. I like the song but I think it wouldnt fit with the ither songs. I do agree though that it would be cool to get songs from all the other characters who didnt have their own song. Would love to hear a camillo song and especially Julietta and her husband

I don't know if you have noticed it or if it is only just me but at 6:47 when Bruno was singing "Let it in, let it out, let it rain, let it snow, let it go", if you listen carefully, in the background you can hear a melody of a piano that sounds almost the same as the melody intro in Frozen's song 'Let it go'.

one of my favorite parts of the song is "she takes after you" Julietta heals everyone with her food.... but mirabel saw the cracks not just in the house but in the family and slowly helped her family heal. she had no powers but she still helped heal her family. she'd probably make a good job as a therapist if there was ever a sequel xD
A) Bruno legit had a solid rap solo for a moment there, I kinda wanna hear more of it
B) I didn't know he auditioned for Elsa XD 🤣
C) The sister trio with Luisa, Isabela and Mirabel was insanely good

Adassa is Dolores’s VA. She asked Or3o to do her original song which was cut and left on the cutting room floor because they decided they didn’t want the villain at all because it was now going to ruin the message

When Isabela, Luisa and Mirabel are singing you have the melodies from Waiting On a Miracle, Surface Pressure and what else can I do coming in combining with the rapid We don’t talk about Bruno melody and the slower family Madrigal beat. It will end with dos Oruguitas beat as well as turn it down beat( which as cut from the movie)
7:10 it's John Leguizamo who also voiced Sid the Sloth from Ice Age! So just think of it as Sid singing xD

Okay, so I have fallen IN LOVE with encanto. As a language learner and educator, the whole colombian culture and local infusion is SO cool. And Linn does an AMAZING job in EVERY WAY, from incorporating authentic colombian ideas in the music, to just EVERYTHING, GAH.
I wanted to say how much I appreciated your comments on the reprises in this song. This was something I noticed while watching, and you are the first vocal coach react I've watched who commented on it. It is SOO COOL, and I love how you comment on the musicality in general. This. Was. An. Easy. Subscribe. :)

You said that you normally do live performances, I'd love to see you critique Sebastián Yatra's Oscar performance of Dos Oruguitas. It was beautiful, but he said afterwards that he was extremely nervous.
My favorite theory is that Mirabel is, fundamentally, Abuela's successor. There's a lot that supports that theory, some of which gets cut off in this video XD Still, Bruno's "You're the real gift kid, let us in" is a massively significant line in the whole theme of the movie. She may not have a "power" like the rest of her family, but she's the heart of the family, and I think will take over that role fully when Abuela passes... or here soon, if Abuela chooses to essentially step down and let the younger members of the household take the lead, especially after she's seen how she's let her pain shape how she leads. Ah well. I can't wait for you to watch the movie. It really is beautiful.
Notice that only two characters interact directly with the Casita.... the whole house. Abuela, and Mirabel. None of the other characters talk to or interact with Casita, and they especially don't tell the house to do things, just Mirabel and Abuela. How they totally missed that this was unique to Mirabel, I'm not sure.

The ironic part of this movie is that it plays off the fact that the old foundation of the family was incompatible with not just the survival of the miracle but also Mirabel's gift that she actually received at the beginning of the movie but she didn't get a door to accompany it until the end because the Idea that the family had to continue to earn the miracle inorder to keep the miracle alive was in direct opposition of Mirabel's gift which is Unconditional love which if you ask me is the most powerful gift and one that not only did the family need it but their entire community needed it. So when the house collapsed and the all realized that the strongest foundation was Love and they then built on that foundation that is when Mirabel got her door primarily because a room would have been to insufficient to hold the power of that gift.
I am so excited to watch Encanto with you. I can't imagine how much crying that's going to be 🤣

I got a call the other day at work, a guy wanted to do a quote for some work my company outsources. The man was a Madrigal. I asked him if he's sick of jokes about this movie and he said, 'Actually that movie has been nothing but a blessing. You see me and my wife opened a furniture store with Madrigal in the name shortly before this movie came out and its brought in a lot of business.' He said the biggest problem is when little kids as what his gift is and he doesn't know what to say.
I cry every time I watch and listen to this song. It’s the ending that always gets me/destroys me. I always start crying at 11:02 and then continue till the song is over.
I'm so excited for the full movie reaction!! Seeing all the songs together and following the story makes it so much more emotional 🤣😭 bring lots of tissues!

I know "All of You" is basically a harmonious and ingenious blend of different melodies from the previous songs in the movie. But for some reason, it reminds me of Jonathan Larson's Rent. I dunno... that's just the vibe I got. Also, the movie scene left out that beautiful guitar coda - something that can be found on the soundtrack version. I love that coda!

I kinda feel like Lin wrote the Bruno part for himself if they didn't get anybody else, but you can see they really pushed to have people of Columbian heritage in the vocal cast, and John Leguizamo does it perfectly.
The songs have a Broadway feel which is hard to avoid having the great author of Hamilton as the writer 😆

Would love to hear your POV on John Leguizamo’s singing voice. He does a great job, but it’s obvious that he’s not a professional singer compared to all of the other voices we hear. The line, “we need a doorknob” in this song makes me laugh every time! ☺️
