It certainly is a well-preserved survivor everything works runs and drives absolutely beautiful one pump turn the key starts up every time whether it's sitting a day or a month
I liked these. The R bodies had a lot of haters and didn’t sell well (as you note), but I found them attractive and still do. The rear doors are either unique or awkward, depending upon your perspective. Today this car looks huge but it was were obviously far smaller than the C body that preceded it. The M-body Fifth Avenue that followed could never hide its Valiant and Volaré roots.
The rarity is why I do my upmost to keep my 79 NYer (Doris) on the road...NOT very often one of these graces your path...the last of the great American road cruisers!
This is my favorite model year for the Chrysler New Yorker as it looks so elegant. TH-camr Bionic Disco has two commercials for this model year Chrysler New Yorker, just FYI. Though I have never seen one in person I can't imagine how comfy the seats are.
I always liked these, particularly that instrument panel that gives so much passenger legroom. I wanted the Newport when these came out but I was a poor college student and couldn't afford it.
1979-81 Chrysler R body. Not the best quality control but otherwise good looking cars. There was also a Dodge version called St Regis and for 1981 Plymouth Gran Fury. This is a nice example. Good luck.
I had in 1979. I traded a 1969 Chrysler Imperial. I don't remember much about the car. It beeped on the sounds. Fond memories. I had power locks, and power truck in glove box.
I find this car beautiful, except for the back doors. They look odd, but overall a nice looking car especially for the late mid 70s. I didn't know about this car until recently, they are very rare. I didn't know about the opera window light, very cool and interesting
The words "1979" and "Museum quality" should NEVER EVER be in the same sentence! Nothing built that year had ANY quality at all!! I know! I bought one!!!!!!!!!
There was no Imperial in 1979. I believe the last year for the Imperial was 1975, please do SOME research before you speak. Also sixteen thousand dollars for THIS? Good luck#
Yes we know that, the reference was if you listened was that the Imperial was the bigger car than the NY'r didn't specify model year, also learn the market on unrestored low mile survivors, you'll be surprised what they bring
The New Yorker Limousine of this car are absolutely breathtaking
The fit and finish of this one is amazing. 😊

Nice example. Love these R bodies....

Beautiful!!!!!!! NOTHING rode like the big American cars......driving a cloud.
There was no Imperial in 79. Last Imperial was in 75

Damn, I was in Az for the last two weeks at my home there, just left there yesterday. My wife and I would've loved to see this car.
Sounds great through the microphone, what a magnificent car, wish my funds were ready, ( almost) I love this car OMG.

How much?
I'm interested
My 71 Chevy Impala needs a friend.
It was sold 15,500
😮❤
Lincolns were bigger !
So was your mom but who cares 🤣
This is the downsized New Yorker. Once the Lincoln was downsized for 1980, the New Yorker was larger.
No one is going to pay that period
If I had the garage space - I would. That's rolling history and incredibly rare.
I consider a time capsule like that to be worth it.
Its unfortunate it's out of your budget, but there are interested buyers
agreed. They probably paid $4k for it trying to make 4x that before the market crashes…
@@Seventizzguys like you overpaying for mid-tier cars with low collector interest is what makes guys like this think they can get $17 grand…
