    Very well explained. The before and after shows the whole situation. He goes slow and tackles the job thoughtfully. His self-confidence is reassuring for novices. -----Bill from Pennsylvania

    Thank you so much for this video! I just replaced the mounts on my 07 Focus. I'm the son of a mechanic, so working on cars isnt foriegn to me. But I dont do it much myself so I am a novice. Here's a few pointers for any novice like myself looking to tackle this. 1. Give yourself plenty of time. This job is not too complicated, but hard work. My wrenching time came in at 7 hours. Obviously I could do it quicker next time, but there is a learning curve. 2. Have a breaker bar and pipe on hand, you will need it for the 13/16 nut on the mount under the battery. Some WD 40 as well. You won't brake that nut without those supplies. 3. If you encounter any issues removing or installing mounts, like the man says in the video, play with the jack. Installing the mount underneath was the toughest part for me. I was able to pry the old one out, but had to jack up a bit to get the new one in. Then I had to lower it to get both bolts in simultaneously. Hope these tips help.

    Thanks guys for the mount installation vid!!! As a female I was informed that I couldn't do this on my own so that made me even more determined to do it myself. It finally stopped raining so I'm on my way to the auto parts store to get this project started. Again, thank you so much!!!!

    Thank you for this video. My son got his first car this week - 06 Focus ZX5 SE with 153,000 miles - we knew it needed engine mounts when we bought it. We did the first two mounts yesterday afternoon and what a huge difference it made, the car went fro crazy rough to smooth. We'll get to the the third mount (under the battery) another weekend. Thanks again!

    • @lerta3502
      @lerta3502 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just did my under-the-battery mount on my 2004 Ford Focus 2.3L yesterday. It's the easiest one of all. As you prolly know, just get the jack under the tranny pan edge (with a piece of wood), yank the battery and the battery case (2 bolts) and bam, you're ready. There's a middle bolt and four corner bolts to remove the mount, and that's it. If the engine sinks a bit when you're loosening any of these, just hit a floor jack a couple times and you're good. the Thanks for your comment.

    Whatever you do, stay away from Anchor mounts. Made in China and if installed, you'll be doing the job again in 35,000 miles. Not worth the time messing with them. Buy OEM from FMC , spend twice, maybe three times the bucks, but you'll thank yourself for using them down the road. Take it from someone who has owned four of these cars. I only use OEM parts for this job.

      Hi Robert. I'm looking to possibly pick up an 07 Focus ZX3 as an economical daily driver / second car to keep miles off of my ZL1 Camaro. In addition to the motor mounts are there any other common problem areas I should look at before going to look at the car? Possibly to use to negotiate the price. I'm planning on the motor mounts because in a video the seller sent me it sounds like it's making that rattling noise.

    • @kylergeston
      @kylergeston 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Robert. Thanks for the info. I went the Anchor way and now need to replace them again after only 1 year of use. What web site you recommend to obtain the OEM type so these will last longer?

    • @alex.cristescu
      @alex.cristescu 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@kylergeston Just a tip, original Ford ones are made by Lemforder, so you can save some bucks buying those. Just search the online Lemforder catalogue then search for the exact part numbers you need. That's what I do, original mount for passenger side (that big one with oil in it) is 100 euros, the Lemforder one is 70.

    Alright. Well I messed up big time. So I was looking around but very confused on the bushing, I figured you had to replace that whole anchor, did not know you can just order the bushing and swap that out with a new one. Rock auto has them for 9$, but ended up ordering one off Amazon. Little upset that I ordered it off Amazon but the same time not trippin because now I know if and when the Amazon one fails I’m already going to have a bushing ordered off rock auto and on standby to go ahead and replace that the moment the Amazon one goes out. Could you please tell me how many motor mounts a 2006 focus has? Also I need all replaced. Does it matter or important which are replaced 1st? I plan to replace them all in a timely manner but can't do them all at once.

    • @GarageBoys
      @GarageBoys  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends on your model but should be the same as the video just 3 motor mounts, and you should do them all at the same time because it’s easier. To replace them it’s easier when the motor is loose so you can push it around and fit the motor mount. When you are doing one at a time you can’t push the motor to fit the mount. In other words when doing them at the same time don’t tighten them until you have replace all the mounts.

    Don't replace just one mount. If the other two mounts are stiff of failed, it will only place extra stress on the liquid harmonic mount. I wonder if the failures of aftermarket parts are due to replacement of just one mount. I used SPK, a Japanese parts supplier to replace all 3 mounts, and I can't even tell if the engine is still running when I come to a stop. Update: Two+ months later and all still good.
