4 out last 5 free throws missed for Memphis by its 2 best shooters (albeit on a bad FT shooting team) and Chalmers nails a well defended 3 with 2 secs left and wins in OT...that's why they call it March Madness
16.8 left. That fast break is an underrated play in this game. CDR needs to drop that off for an easy dunk, or pull it back and at least milk some clock before bricking FTs.
@IwantMyVisionBack, 15ppg for a college PG is actually great. He avg about 5apg which again,in college is great. If you remember this season like I do Rose's play to the Final Four is what solidified his #1 pick. Beasley was his only competition
This game looks and feels so different from the game today. Back then the officials would let the damn kids play, not blow their little manliness compensation whistle every 15 seconds.
+Carl Smith still seems like a completely different game. I'm sitting here now, with my basic basketball knowledge, and calling all the fouls that I think would be called today. Over 30 so far and I'm not into OT yet
Wow Memphis really butchered the end of this game. Rose should have picked collins' pocket in the backcourt at the end of regulation and didnt. He put the ball right in front of him to take on the crossover. Rose would normally take that. Beyond that, Memphis as a team had fouls to give. Should have fouled and put Collins on the line for 2. Chalmers should have never even touched the rock.
Kansas Cheater Hawks?????? hahahah that's hilarious considering derrick rose legally shouldn't have even been playing in this game. calling kansas cheaters when you play a calipari coached team is utterly laughable....
I remember watching every minute of this game! We had a squad that year with D Rose this shit still hurts but it wouldn't matter if we did win because Rose wasn't supposed to be playing and the NCAA fucking vacated our whole season because he cheated on his ACT
You had a DOMINANT squad. All the pieces were there. As a Kansas fan I had a TERRIBLE feeling at around 3 minutes to go. It felt like 1991, 1997 (Pierce, Vaughn, Haase, Pollard, LaFrentz) and 2003 all over again. Memphis was such a strong opponent. Their guards were outstanding, they had big inside bodies...no wonder you guys went 38-2. The whole Rose thing is blown up a little. But a Memphis win would have been vacated. It is interesting that teams who eventually got their seasons vacated (Michigan 1993; UMass 1996; Memphis 2008) never won the title. Anyways, this was a great college basketball game no matter how you slice it. We destroyed ourselves from the line in 2003 against Syracuse...we must have missed like 15 free throws. It all involves little things going for you in the NCAA tourney. RCJH! P.S. Pastner was a great hire, hopefully we meet in the tourney soon!
Yes,Memphis missed 5 free throws in the last 2 mins of regulation. They made some mistakes in overtime as well, like that easy basket from Brandon Rush in fastbreak, and that foul on 45 seconds left when they were down by 3 under a minut to go(if Rush did not get that layup on a fastbreak it would be +1 for Kansas). But,my opinion is,that they lost the game in the first half, when they gave away too many easy points in the paint. There was a Kansas shot chart at 35:15 on the video that shows everything. Also Memphis lost they flow in offense a little bit in that last 2 min of regulation and couldn't score on half court game.Great game.
1:17:23 *C'MON, COACH CAL! YOU SHOULD HAD FOULED THERE!!!! DON'T GIVE CHALMERS A CHANCE TO TIE THE GAME!!!!!!* Man, I bet you Calipari *STILL* has nightmares about that moment. But, hey, at least he has his national title ring now.....and two vacated Final Four teams to go along with that. And will do the same to Kentucky for, like, the one billionth time. But, hey, isn't that part of the culture in Lexington? Titles and cheating? Why do you think they hired Calipari? The UK administration and fans love cheating. After all, their arena is named after a cheater.
I love all the stuff the announcers say, that is so funny to us, watching it in the future "That is the shot of the tournament!" At 1:01:19 when Rose hits that long 2. "Unless this game goes to overtime, that shouldn't be a factor" at 1:04:04 haha
calipari loses so many games on free throws! Would have beat unc this year if his team could make a pressure free throw! pressure free throws are a skill!
Derrick Rose has virtually been non-existent in the first 10 minutes of the game. Also he averaged about 15 points per game, why was he the number one pick? His game so far in this game to the NBA changed drastically.
players arent always drafted just by how many points they average or stats alone, he was a strong point guard with great athleticism and driving ability, and a potential jumpshot in the making, simlply they thought he had the most upside and potential
Ya'll can say what ever the fuck you want about Kansas. "Memphis won it for them" "Kansas got lucky" or what ever it is that you wanna say but Ex Arizona coach Lute Olson said it the best....... "You have to be talented in order to win this tournament but you also need a little luck". Sorry but not sorry, it's the truth!
Die hard Kansas fan here I agree you need luck it happens all the time in games every year in and out in EVERY sport pro and college these 2 teams where very evenly matched was I glad for the outcome you bet! But I was sweating bullets for sure
AND you know whenever anyone comes to the free throw line no matter how good they are it's never a garuntee and the 2pt shot by Memphis didn't have a lot of luck factor in it eh?
actually no they wouldnt, they had to vacate their FF and whole season..had they won, the title would have been whipped off the history books..class dismissed
carsonc29 the NCAA can't vacate people's memories out of there head can they..... the tigers would have been the champion without a trophy so yeah he should have made both those free throws
not KU's fault Rose and Memphis couldnt handle the pressure...they had been a terrible FT shooting team all year, cant be shocked they missed...keep reaching if you want to, wont change the outcome .
i hope you all know that the NCAA cleared Rose 3 times before after the title game, when it just so happens they were wrong three times in a row. and what about derrell auther. wasn't he ineligible to play also?
Memphis choked and KU was clutch down the stretch. My favorite KU game ever.
The shot heard around the world.....Best college championship finish in history
1:01:18
"There's the shot of the tournament"
That's what he thinks
I was thinking the same thing!
Super Rabb
I still get choked up watching this! Go Jayhawks!!!
I like Bill Self but the dude cheats. It's a shame he tainted his legacy.
Still your favorite?
Best national title game in awhile
4 out last 5 free throws missed for Memphis by its 2 best shooters (albeit on a bad FT shooting team) and Chalmers nails a well defended 3 with 2 secs left and wins in OT...that's why they call it March Madness
no that's why it's called "Rigged" with "Technology" in the basketball to insure "statistical" results. They use "Gematria" as well :(
Amazing quality bro...thanks for the upload!!!
The color scheme of this game is clean
This game never gets old. My daughter was an assistant AD, pregnant with my now 5’ 9” granddaughter who is a 3 point shooter. She’s an athlete.
This is my favorite video on youtube.
Anyone else get goose bump?
16.8 left. That fast break is an underrated play in this game. CDR needs to drop that off for an easy dunk, or pull it back and at least milk some clock before bricking FTs.
IT'S MARCH BABY!!! Best time of the year!
NBA Playoffs are a little bit better in my opinion.
***** ikr
Brandon Bowlegger it is greAt! But college football season has the edge just sayin
Damn this shit still hurts...
Kob Kabob the big games always do!🤕
Uh I know nobody scored, but for some reason the last 62 seconds of the first half is cut out of this video.
Memphis had been talking about how free throws weren't important going into the game because they had won anyway.....smh
I REMEMBER CAL SAYING THAT. Interview on ESPN. Knew they were gonna drop a game to free throws. Didn't know it would be my school's team to beat them
This game was Billy Packer's final game as CBS commentator. Excellent Commentator but had a reputation of putting his foot in his mouth.
Awful actually. Entire 2005 game he rode Carolina's dick, completely biased commentator.
Packer was nearly unlistenable in this game.
1:17:47 derrick rose limping? talk about foreshadowing lmaoo
Lol it explains everything
Rose v. Chalmers...still waiting to see that matchup in the Eastern Conference Finals. Maybe next year.
Are we all Jayhawkers here? and that Oklahoma win though 😍
+Dylan Wedel We are. :)
Frank Furlacker 😄
More surprise butt sex from the Hawks.
this game won smug cat like $108. I didnt realize it was D Rose. D ROSE A BITCH AND HE GOT HURT AND TRIED TO STAND IN THE WAY OF SMUG CAT'S MONEY
As a memphis fan this hurts

You know this was only 6 years ago right?
+Carl Smith still seems like a completely different game. I'm sitting here now, with my basic basketball knowledge, and calling all the fouls that I think would be called today. Over 30 so far and I'm not into OT yet
Syracuse '87 haunts any team who don't respect the FT. 🥃

Yup, if Memphis won they would have vacated the title right back to Kansas...Justified result here.
1:17:16 for Mario's shot
I remember watching every minute of this game! We had a squad that year with D Rose this shit still hurts but it wouldn't matter if we did win because Rose wasn't supposed to be playing and the NCAA fucking vacated our whole season because he cheated on his ACT

What a game!
Rewatching this Memphis was missing free throes throughout the game

you sir are an idiot. if Calipari did anything why haven't we been caught yet?
Butthurt
Randy Dubin Cheated... We dont cheat... North carolina has scandals, Duke has scandals and syrucuse has scandals.... BUT WE DONT!!!!
+Michael Turner Yet...
+Austin King bbn. best college basketball program in history other than ucla
Why Memphis didn't foul will be a mystery I'll have to live with for the rest of my life 💯
Why sit Douglas Roberts at the 6:00 mark? He only had 3 fouls.
Calipari sucks as an in game coach. Dude has had 5 #1 overall picks with one title to show for it.
I love all the stuff the announcers say, that is so funny to us, watching it in the future "That is the shot of the tournament!" At 1:01:19 when Rose hits that long 2. "Unless this game goes to overtime, that shouldn't be a factor" at 1:04:04 haha
This one of the luckiest runs to win a title in a Kansas history
impressive clip!
sick quality
how come the video is not working for me?
man, memphis bricked the game in the end
1:01:18 shot of the tournament. Dude u spoke toooooo soon.JAYHAWK NATION!!!
Memphis getting Ready to be #1 Team Next Season.
calipari loses so many games on free throws! Would have beat unc this year if his team could make a pressure free throw! pressure free throws are a skill!
Look Rose is hurt, thats's a shocker
look rose bout to beat ur ass
+Abdullahi Mohamoud you are doing it wrong, go home
+Whoopity Doo Hahahaha! Yup!
Derrick Rose has virtually been non-existent in the first 10 minutes of the game.

What? Rookie of the year his first year, all star his second year, and league MVP his third year. What more do you want?
also remember jimmer freddette was the leading scorer in the nation, but really he was just a good shooter thats about it
upyours537 That's right, Reggie Williams led the NCAA in scoring two straight times and went undrafted, haha.
***** lol i remember reggie williams he played decent but sure as hell no leading scorer in the nba haha
CDR cost Memphis, not Derrick Rose.
Actually Calipari did buy paying players.
+impaul41 You don't know what you're talking about.
Rose knew he was illegal and threw the game on that first free throw
1:01:08 “There is the shot of the tournament!” 😩 😅
1:01:18 "There is the shot of the tournament!" lol...
Ya'll can say what ever the fuck you want about Kansas. "Memphis won it for them" "Kansas got lucky" or what ever it is that you wanna say but Ex Arizona coach Lute Olson said it the best....... Why did people clown rose for missing that free throw if anybody should be blamed it should be CDR he missed 3 that could of put the game away
Cause clowning someone for missing free throws makes a hell of a lot more sense tan clowning someone for missing a three? I mean, seems obvious to me.
Cullen Dilldine Missed three as in missed three free throws.
I demand TH-cam take this video down!!! The pain. I will never be able to watch this, GTG!!!
Напиши это к трём видео,хлопни 5 раз и загляни под подушку.Я в шоке
1:03:57 "So basically, unless this game can get to overtime, that shouldn't be a factor." lol...
Epic choke by Rose
Rose became too passive towards the end regulation and OT.
KU did there part to win, but Memphis choking was the other half of it.
Lol I feel old this is back when teams.actually played man to man instead some bullshit trapping zone defense
i hate zone. sure it can be smat. but i personally think its for pussys.
smart wrong. lol
If d rose would have made both free throws Memphis would been the champion that year and that is facts
actually no they wouldnt, they had to vacate their FF and whole season..had they won, the title would have been whipped off the history books..class dismissed
carsonc29 the NCAA can't vacate people's memories out of there head can they..... the tigers would have been the champion without a trophy so yeah he should have made both those free throws

.
Who cares? KU won. That's that. You can "If" all you want but the true champions took the title.
Calipari still choking in 2022 against St Peter's, first game??!! LoL 🤣
Chris douglas roberts made memphis lose when he tried to lay it up someone was open for 3
Four Number Ones.
i hope you all know that the NCAA cleared Rose 3 times before after the title game, when it just so happens they were wrong three times in a row. and what about derrell auther. wasn't he ineligible to play also?
What does that say when they were wrong three times about Rose
Haha D-Rose is so small! compared now on the Bulls.
KU would have had this same result in 2011 had the beaten VCU like they should have
Douglas-roberts ball hogged so hard in OT
1:09:32. Calipari's dream team eh?
Mario Matthews I think you meant to say Kansas Better Than You Hawks
GO TIGERS!
1:16:53
Check out my bball mixtape and my other ball vids on my channel
d rose choked
Rose choked lmao
This still makes me puke.
gag
Come now it's not that bad...
This still hurts. And I still dislike Kansas. Kansas didn't win, though. Memphis simply choked
Kansas didn't win.... because Memphis' trip to the game was vacated... so technically they didn't play anyone
esauer22 Go to Allen Fieldhouse, there is a banner there, it says National Champs, bitch.
A win is a win
sllimthg damn lol
and rock chalk
hello Tristen im a caleb nice to meet u and im a die hard jayhawk fan Tristan Compton
Kansas cheater hawks
That's sooooo original..
Your teams games got vacated. Tf?
Rose v. Chalmers...still waiting to see that matchup in the Eastern Conference Finals. Maybe next year.
in 2011 we did
