There are many groups with dogmatic beliefs. Some that quickly come to mind are environmentalism (specifically climate change), trans issues, and political ideologies. Not only is any evidence to the contrary to there position not considered, people polarized on these issues refuse to even listen and fight to silence those of a differing opinion. And while this parallels religion in its actions and practices, it is not religion. Religion is unique in that it worships a deity of some form. As the saying goes, atheism is a religion like bald is a hair color.
@@mrscience1409 I agree that people refuse to listen to each other on either side. That is actually very sad. That being said, you can frame it as non-religion as you like, but atheism does have its own doctrine, so it has its own indoctrination of sorts. That is my experience in debating “evidence led” atheists. Not saying all atheists are like that or that I haven’t had respectful ones, just my experience with many.
@@pmpcvii doctrine? Interesting. I have always been an atheist. Since birth. I do not have an unfilled hole in my life. I neither fear hell or want heaven. I have a fulfilling life that lacks wanting. Religion and a god doesn’t present even a moment of thought in my day to day life. I don’t care if something loves me. If you said you loved me, even if true, since I don’t know you, it would mean nothing to me and would not affect me. Growing up, I viewed religious people as a curiosity and if anything I marveled at how they could believe such fantastical things. But, since I don’t care, I figured you be you. I get on with my life, enjoy my wife, fishing and golf until the switch goes off and someone takes my place. So my question, what’s my doctrine?
@@mrscience1409 I’m sincerely glad you have a fulfilling life that lacks want, as you put it. Not everybody does. There are many fulfilled Christians also. However, as you stated there are many people in this world with an unfilled hole. Religious and non-religious alike. It reminds me of a scripture if I may. Jesus speaking of His time here on earth says this after they asked Him why He was eating with tax collectors and sinners. Basically, He was eating with the people who were looked down on by society and He says “And Jesus answered and said to them, “It is not those who are well who need a physician, but those who are sick. I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.”” Luke 5:31-32

Pride is a huge stumbling block to the atheist. Even though they know what they believe is irrational (chaos creating order, life from non-life, etc.), they simply don't care, so long as it makes their conscious mind stay deluded in HOPING there's no God to hold them morally accountable, they'll stick to their delusion. As Paul wrote: They suppress the truth (subconsciously) in unrighteousness.

Sad watching a persons pride just refuse to free them. They’d rather just win the argument rather than accept the life changing advice. They’re not interested in that, they just want to get the W in a debate.
If raping and kidnapping a child is objectively wrong, is it still wrong if it was a 15 year old Amalekite girl, and the man was a Hebrew soldier 3500 years ago?
God gave the Amalekite nation hundreds of years to turn AWAY from their sin . . . they did not. For those who do not know who you are talking about . . . the Amalekites, descendants of Amalek, Eliphaz, son of Esau (the patriarch Jacob’s brother and sworn enemy), and his concubine Timna had a child named Amalek. The Amalekites were an ancient biblical nation living near the land of Canaan. They worshipped numerous false Gods, sacrificed their children to these Gods and practiced numerous sins in the eyes of God. They were the first nation to attack the Jewish people after the Exodus from Egypt, and they are seen as the archetypal enemy of the Jews. The nation of Amalek is long gone . . . Why? Because God judged them. “Only in the cities of these peoples that the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance, you shall NOT leave alive anything that breathes. “But you shall utterly destroy them, the Hittite and the Amorite, the Canaanite and the Perizzite, the Hivite and the Jebusite, as the LORD your God has commanded you, in order that they may NOT teach you to do according to all their detestable things which they have done for their gods, so that you would sin against the LORD your God” (Deuteronomy 29:16-18) In the end, and whether you like it or not, we will ALL be judged by God.
Even those who claim to not be religious are indeed religious about something... It's a matter of where that religion is pointed towards... Towards God or away from God...
The issue is that they view themselves as default and without a worldview, and therefore don’t think they should be pinned on the things they obviously believe.
Claiming it is absolute/objective and your god is the standard doesn't change the facts. First of all: it's just your god's opinion and the bible shows he can't be (trusted as) the standard. Or do you follow all moral laws and what your god condoned in the OT?
@@KasperKatje Moral relativism is a nonsensical philosophy because the logical conclusion of it is that morality itself doesn’t exist, a persons morals are just an opinion.. I prefer apples to oranges, feeding the poor to murdering the poor, but it doesn’t really matter which I choose because it’s all made up. The moral relativist position denies objective morality but without an objective standard morality cannot exist at all, there is no real right or wrong. You can also see how hypocritical and nonsensical the position is when you look at someone’s life who claims to be a moral relativist. They never, ever live out the philosophy because they always classify some things as moral and others as not when they have no basis for said classification. They will call themselves a good person but by their own definition their standard of good is made up. History shows morals differ between groups and throughout time...the definition of moral relativism. It's just a social construct and it is focused on your own group. I was like that. Looking back it's incredible how surface level the thinking and resulting beliefs are. Lots of people just happen to acquire certain beliefs, and given society (and the truly dark forces among the inner school of it) most people are victims of it.
This had to be an extreme exercise in patience for PJ. This gal’s primary strategy was to be nebulous, illusive, and noncommittal. Why is that not acceptable? Do you not realize how many god beliefs there are? When you accept one you ignore all the others, when you don’t accept any it’s only truthful to understand you can’t possibly know all the different gods and all the different ideas of gods. I lack belief in a god or gods. However there are certain gods that I do not believe can exist since they are contradictory in nature. Also I have never meet two Christians that describe their god and his nature in the exact same way. My attitude is not based on science, but rather on faith… The absence of a Creator, the non-existence of God is my childhood faith, my adult belief, [and is] unshakable and holy. And Richard Dawkins. Wow it must be so exhausting to live in her head. Geez!! This is so sad and also extremely frustrating to hear the BELIEFS of this type of person. Yes ma’am you have beliefs and yes ma’am pride come before the fall. Bless this brother in Christ for his wisdom and patience and love for the lost. Every knee shall bow and tongue shall confess that JESUS CHRIST IS LORD 🙌🏼. MARANATHA COME LORD JESUS!
Yes you right Pastor pride and stuck in her ways!!!
They don’t understand that it’s a religion too.
Yes!! I recently realized that debating someone.
I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.””
Luke 5:31-32
Wow...that guy is so good!!! Patient, polite, articulate and on point!
Good work.
It seems she only wants to refute what he brings up. Understanding may not be her goal. Her conscious may be completely seared. We should definitely pray for her. 🙏🏾
WOW! Thank you for sharing this Pastor, it's all PRIDE which is the biggest problem with sinful people. Pray Pray Pray for those who refuse God's truth found in His Son Jesus Christ! Blessings..xo
It never ceases to amaze me how people will tie themselves into knots so they can keep sinning without consequences.
Sad and scary 😮

I don't believe she knows what she believes. So she just keeps talking in circles and contradicting herself even though it makes no sense.
wow she really is full o contradictions and confusion , she has no viable arguments and is trying so hard to be intellectual , but falls flat with word salads
Glory to God. Brother Durbin always gives a great defense

“But you shall utterly destroy them, the Hittite and the Amorite, the Canaanite and the Perizzite, the Hivite and the Jebusite, as the LORD your God has commanded you, in order that they may NOT teach you to do according to all their detestable things which they have done for their gods, so that you would sin against the LORD your God”
(Deuteronomy 29:16-18)
In the end, and whether you like it or not, we will ALL be judged by God.
Even those who claim to not be religious are indeed religious about something... It's a matter of where that religion is pointed towards... Towards God or away from God...
This man is so intelligent! I so enjoyed listening to this!
The issue is that they view themselves as default and without a worldview, and therefore don’t think they should be pinned on the things they obviously believe.
Its simple, if your morals are subjective, you have no authority to tell anyone they are wrong, and your moral condemnation carries no weight.
That doesnt follow.... And everyones morals are subjective.
A moral relativist saying they are a good person has the same amount of justification as I have when I declare myself king of the world (none).
@@Gorpmeat no, it's doesn't follow that morality doesn't exist, just that it is not set in stone (no pun intended).
It's the same stupid claim that atheists can't claim love exists because we believe we are just matter, chemicals.
Christians only claim objective morality because they believe that proves god exists but their own bible shows it is relative.
Yes, we have some morals on which 99,999% of us agree but if morality would be absolute/objective, there wouldn't be discussions about what is moral or not.
History shows morals differ between groups and throughout time...the definition of moral relativism.
It's just a social construct and it is focused on your own group. One of the reason why to some morality looks objective/absolute is because they groups got bigger and bigger: tribe/village/club, city, country, religion...and now we try to realize universal human rights for example.
@@somerandom3247 the universal consistency says you're wrong. Everyone knows what they ought to do. Nobody admires a doublecrosser. Nobody respects a rapist. When you've done someone wrong, that is why you make excuses to yourself as to why you did it. Atheists that claim its all relative never once live that ideology out!
She seemed to indicate she believes nothing (or wants others to infer she believes nothing) and tried to act as if that made sense.
This much is clear: she certainly believes PJ is wrong. Now getting her to spell out why he’s wrong would be like nailing jello to the wall.
Evasion, obfuscation, lack of personal responsibility, and as someone said earlier saying there is no absolute truth while making an absolute truth claim. Yup, simultaneously funny and sad
Her choice is chaos no matter what 😮
Wow! That was wild. Especially when she said “I just can’t tell people they are wrong and how they should live their lives.” And so Jeff says “so would you tell the child rapist to stop?” And she literally gave him the point but they goes on to “believe” that one world view wouldn’t create a better world. Geesh lady. Props to her for hanging in that long. She’s probably never been pushed so hard in her soft college grad life.
She has no authority to tell anyone anything. Why would they listen?
One world view is exactly was the New World Order wants sound similar to revelations
A compass without magnetic north will lead you astray indeed.
Every time I hear “lack of belief” I just roll my eyes at this point.
So it’s hard to even know how to approach what god is when those that believe have all types of different answers within one religion.

The problem with the Christian view of objective truth is the fact that they all disagree and break off into denominations
He just handled it with big words, like a bully that can't be wrong. He has lots of training on how to argue, I'm sure his teachers had a field day. Can't we just have a moral standard that as an intelligent caring society come to agree on.

A Theist - A Gnostic actually literally means something…When she says “well, that’s what it’s come to mean” simply demonstrates her ignorance.
After watching this I came to the conclusion that all people are seekers - looking for purpose to life itself and searching for their individual life's purpose. Everyone wants to be valued and have a value system to live by.
I choose to find my value in the God whom I believe created me and created the universe. I just find life so much more peaceful, fulfilling and less complex when I trust in the One who made me, knows me best and has my best interests at heart.
It is so reassuring for me to be able to find my purpose through the God whom I believe already knows the purpose for which he created me.
God has a word for people like this woman - ‘lost’
May the Lord open her eyes.
You can really see the anger in the woman. On one side there is a sweet calm man, on the other side a bitter frustrated angry woman. What is she angry about? As an atheist I cannot understand having a great philosophical conversation with a nice person, and getting angry.
You’re projecting these view that you personally want on each person, you’re seriously asserting the woman was angry for talking just as calmly as him, but completely ignore the guy saying atheists have no integrity, you’re only saying he’s nice because you agree with him and you’re only saying she’s angry because you don’t like people questioning your theology
I'm so glad Jeff is inconsistent in his Calvinism where no convincing is necessary if they are Elect.
She's continually, rudely interrupting him. Gotta set the ground rules for a respectful conversation. He's great though. Wish I could debate like this.

I have comments from 3 top atheists who state they will believe the opposite of whatever science finds, no matter how logical, proven, demonstrated, solid, or correct, no matter how based or repeatable to obtain the same result. All three were published in Nature and are evolution icons. If ANY of that points to God. They'll happily abandon science and stick to their beliefs. And ALL admitted they HAVE.
This is right on. Can you explain a bit more? What were the comments and who were the atheists?
@@pmpcvii Quote: "It doesn't matter if ALL the evidence supports intelligent design, and contradicts naturalistic evolution. [Or] Even if all that data points to an intelligent designer. Such a hypothesis is resisted because it's not naturalistic." SD Todd, Nature, 30th September 1999.
"Evolution is unproven and unprovable. We ONLY believe it because the alternative is special creation, which is unthinkable." Sir Arthur Keith.
"Evolution is a theory universally accepted not BECAUSE it can be proven by logical coherent evidence to be true, but BECAUSE the ONLY alternative, special creation, is incredible." DMS Watson, Nature Magazine.
If the evidence points to God, reject it, says the science. If ALL of it proves God, reject it says science.
Because the evidence that leads to God.... is UNACCEPTABLE - even if true.
That's the mindset, evidence irrelevant.
They're not alone...
Evolutionary biologist Richard Lewontin explains his commitment to materialism, no matter what he has an “a prior commitment to materialism. It is not that the methods… of science somehow compel us to accept a material explanation of the… world, but, on the contrary, that we are forced by our… adherence to material causes to create… a set of concepts that produce material explanations, no matter how counterintuitive, no matter how mystifying.” Lewontin goes on to say that his “materialism is absolute, for we cannot allow a Divine foot in the door.”
George Klein, in his book The Atheist in the Holy City, says, “I am an atheist. My attitude is not based on science, but rather on faith… The absence of a Creator, the non-existence of God is my childhood faith, my adult belief, [and is] unshakable and holy.
And Richard Dawkins. "I've always paid lipservice to the view of going where the science leads...." I have him on tape saying that.
The myth is such are driven to truth via the sciences and logically follow through on those findings. Their published views say nothing of the kind. This is a tiny sample of what's out there.

Life without God does not mean life without meaning. The meaning of life if life itself, which means making the most of life and enjoying it, knowing that we only get to live one life! Meaning can be found in love and friendships, or in beauty and truth. And from the day I became a father, the purpose of my life was to be a good father, which has definitely given my life additional meaning!
But how do we get meaning in life from an evolutionary process that got us here without meaning or purpose?
