This is awesome, coming full circle back to basics. I always believed those fancy $30 fly boxes that hold 70 flies were just a marketing items for new anglers.
Meiho has been making a great box for flys for many years. I have 4 that are at least 10 years old. Still holding up great. They have the best latch and hinge system. I have not tried the foam insert but will order 1 or 2.
I remember when you first talked about these. And when those boxes are getting pretty expensive, so when you can get it for a lot cheaper, it's money toward your next adventure.
Meiho makes some great boxes! I have been using the cliff bugger barns. Their nice because their big and double sided foam. But they are kinda big. I thought about using C & F fly boxes their pretty nice too. Silicone boxes too? All great fly boxes. But these seem really user friendly and look a little thinner than a bugger barn. Thanks for sharing! Will be getting me a few. Fish on!
Colin hears that quite a bit, especially when visiting Boston, however he is about three feet too short and definitely a few million short in cash as well. Thanks
Yes, I do have alot of flies! Partially because I like to tie and people do often give me flies. But the other key point is that I do fish for many species in many locations, so the building up of various flies and therefore fly boxes, has been a gradual progression. But you're definitely right, I DO have more flies than your average angler! Thanks for the feedback
Very good question as I too fish bombers for salmon. Right now I'm busy packing for a trip to Labrador and New Brunswick. In testing/checking the fly boxes Meiho offers, the ones that seem ideal for bombers are: Slit Form Case 3010NS and for larger "fluffier" bombers like "Carters Bug" or "Dirty Bombers", the Micro Rib System No.800NS seem ideal. Just putting my larger bombers into that box. Hope this helps. Colin
lol, thats why you don't buy many things from amazon. had same experience on some fly tying items thru amazon as well. you can buy directly from meiho and they will ship to you. some of my friends saw my boxes and ordered some together so they paid a flat fee for shipping. cheers
Yes, I definitely think the Gun Run box is a game changer compared to other fly boxes....especially at a price point of $14.99 retail. Most fly boxes are made in China and many are of poor quality. These fly boxes are great quality and produced in Japan. So yes, I do think these products are game changing relative to the current market offerings

Is that Larry Bird?
Colin hears that quite a bit, especially when visiting Boston, however he is about three feet too short and definitely a few million short in cash as well. Thanks
Unfortunately, the red ones you featured are all sold out. I believe they are the 3020s.
Sorry to hear that, hopefully they get more in soon. They are a fantastic multi-purpose flybox and certainly our favourite
Was anyone else like, holy crap, he has a lot of flies!
