I'm honestly impressed. I only played it for 6 months and that was off and on as it was because it was so toxic. That was just before the tanks started coming out.
So. I think the reason the British lower glacis is so weak is due to the Cold War being in effect when the Conqueror was designed....they expected a dug in, defensive line type warfare with a lot of pre dug positions to go hull down in, hence the lower priority for lower glacis armor. Could be wrong, but that's my thinking.
Also engagement distances were expected to be much further on average than in WT. If most shots are being received from 1km+ the lower glacis is effectively more angled and a smaller target. Not sure how much this factored into the design but notable imo
And hilly terrain. They were all designed with the intent of assist in fighting Russian tanks with air and infantry support in the uneven terrain of Eastern Europe where being able to hull down and HESH the shit outa T72s a few miles out, not rushing a random ass cap point in the middle of an open field.
yes pretty much, that's why tanks like the M1 Abrams, Leopard 2 also have not so great hull armor (also because statistically speaking, the turret is most hit part of the tank)
They're so garbage I'm just pausing my grind on it at the moment. Half the time I just play the Eland because that 90mm HEAT does 10x more damage and never shatters.
Just as a heads up to anyone who may have been wondering. The trees not falling over was a bug that was patched recently. Also the bulldog can still fire without the gunner as it has the same hunter-killer abilities as most MBTs.
I got the centurion mk10 and gave up. Iv grinded almost every nation to around rank 5 or 6 and i have never had a more painful experience than with the centurions. Slow. no armor. No post pen damage. Youre so slow youll almost never het in a position to actualy make the stabalizers useful. Just useless tanks. Now with the APDS nerfs i refuse to touch them.
The number of videos per day is a must have for me right now. So damn grateful for the gameplay, editing, and uploads daily!!! Love it, just no more NVG in day time battles 😂😂 my eyes hurt!

Yes, contrary to popular belief, one Super Pershing still exists, at the 1st Division Museum in Indiana. But both tanks live on in War Thunder - of course, Phly has played one and not the other during the time of these transmissions. Oh well, I won’t stop trying! *End Transmission*
from what i understood from tank historian vids , the strategy was the conqueror was attached to 5 centurions. not having a stabilizer (or only worked at low speeds, cant remember) it would hang back at the rear of the formation and give fire support with its far larger 120mm gun
You are right Phly, they designed the late MBTS with hulldown fighting in mind, that's why only the turret and upper plate of the chieftain are not bad, the sides and rear of the Mk 6 are 37mm, to give you an idea Soviet WW2 anti tank rifles could pen them.
Man, I still remember when this thing used to bounce off t-64 apfsds on the turret at above 600m like it was nothing. With the addon armor of course. Idk how it did that, but it did anyway

In my experience this thing actually handles ATGMs quite well, probably frustrating for early heli pilots having to dump from two to four missiles into this
@PhlyDaily 3:23 that right cheek doesnt detonate, it looks like HESH, but was causing detonations even with a full APDS loadout so they got rid of it entirely
the ME 262 at 15:50 was the king tiger you took out, classic german mains, completely unaware of their surroundings, terrible at flying cas, and always trying to revenge kill with planes

I love my British tanks including the Conqueror, first tree I ground out about 10 yrs ago. But with Gaijin's recent nerfing of sabot rounds playing Brits is totally frustrating and IMO pointless. The post pen damage now is abysmal, you get a good hit in and if you're lucky take out a single crew member and then they get you
I main this tank, and maybe its just me, but I can't really think of a time when I got killed from my lower glacis, or if it happens frequently. Most deaths are from the turret face weakspot, top of the roof with HE, or just straight through the upper front plate.
the stat based balancing is true of a lot of tanks though. The least Gaijin could do is if a tanked is played by than less than x number of people do manual balancing.
Day 6 - Hey Phly, you should play the StuG III A at 2.3 with HEAT and smoke rounds. Just pure entertainment to run around with. You can pair it with the duck for some extra phun!
Honestly the Conq is the first british tank I 'fear' when playing against Britain. I haven't worked my Brit tree that high yet, but I really look forward to the moment I can play it. I thrive in the RB BR7-BR9 space in this game. really love it.
All fun and games until people realize that the lower plate isn't even the weakest point, but instead it has 76mm of front armor between the plates since 2018.

I'm main British and actually playing mostly 7.7 and my friend USA main is jealous they got two planes stabilizer at 7.3 (6.7 if you got the centurion MK2) I like them more than Germany tbh.
The Conqueror is one of very few heavy tanks I enjoy playing. I don't normally like the playstyle and heavy tanks at 7.7 really seem to be fodder for the most part but the Conq is lit.

The invincible trees and foliage thing has ruined a lot of good spots for me at the moment. I really hope they fix this.

This is one of my favorite tanks. its over ranked for this bias game. but i love how it feels drives and plays
conq is amonster and its armour is great. im very aggressive with it, at least as much as the reload allows it.

The primary reason I don't play the conq is it's repair cost coupled with cas spam.

always take at least 1 or 2 hesh shells they are surprisingly useful and effective for no armour best armour targets.
You should try the VR version of war thunder its so much fun
You should see the lower plate on chinese MBT's, you can pen the 10.0 br tanks with 75mm shermans

I love this tank. Any time I get the daily task for killing with a heavy, this is my go to tank. Awful in an uptier though.
