Been to Cancun once, but Punta Cana 7 times. The fact that in Punta Cana you feel like you’re in the tropics of the Caribbean makes it the winner for me every time. I couldn’t stand the feeling of being in a city of high rise hotels in Cancun.
After watching many of your videos, we decided to stay at the Royalton Chic in Punta Cana. It was the most disappointing vacation I have had in a very long time. I’ll start with the positives: the food was good - only issue was it was always served Luke warm and we had to consistently ask the staff to warm it up. If you are at the buffet for breakfast, the only hot food you will find are the eggs you request be cooked for you - everything else from the bacon, scrambled eggs, hash browns etc., were cold. The entertainment in the evenings was a lot of fun. Negatives: when we arrived the lobby was so underwhelming so first impression was not great. The rooms are small especially the bathroom - I had to continually step out when getting ready for our evenings to cool off under the ceiling fan over the bed but, we could overlook that since we didn’t spend much time in the room. The glass in the shower looked as though it had never been cleaned, you were given two bath towels and one very thin bar of soap which snapped on first use. When we asked for additional towels, we were told each room was only to have two in them and one bar of soap - it was a real struggle getting more of both…what!?! Housekeeping was terrible, two of the six days we were there, the room had not been made up by the time we returned in the evening from the beach, on one occasion I watched the housekeeper rinse out the drinking glasses in the bathroom sink and put them back on the bathroom counter. When I asked for clean ones, I was told there were none. The shower faucet was broken and continued to fall,off every time the shower was turned on…we asked to have it fixed as did one of the housekeepers but, it was never done - Yes we were tipping! With the exception of a few, the staff was not friendly at all and was specific individuals were more interested in setting up meetings to discuss upgrading to the diamond club. The mermaid pool you refer to is for diamond club members only and there is a guard on duty to ensure no other guests enter. There is really one main pool at this resort with a couple of very small pools around it to cool off in. The one you show in your video is not really a pool but, a place to play water volleyball and the guests who are sitting in the seating area along it…similar set up to a swim up room. There are not enough seats at the pool or on the beach - I found myself having to get up at 5:30 am to save seats and It was a race as people were clearly coming out before that saving multiple seats at both the pool and the beach with their towels. While I understand this is a party resort I will say I’ve never seen a sports bar with stripper poles in it…very odd. In speaking with other guests we were hearing the same feedback I am sharing here so we were not the only ones experiencing these issues. There was absolutely NO luxury vibe to this resort whatsoever and again, I was extremely disappointed that I chose it based on your reviews. I will never return to this resort or recommend it to anyone and it has put me right off the brand altogether.
Wow based on the vid I was expecting cancun to win. Been to cancun shick 5 times and giingn to punta shiek in a week. I might have to make my own vid based on this and compare
Let me know your thoughts... trying to decide on a vacation march 30th and looking at Chic Punta Cana. Been to RIU Republica 4 times.... was great Nov 2018 and 2019.... then after covid returned April 2022 and Nov 2022 but each of those times got significantly worse. Looking for a great scene for adult only, singles, groups, not all couples. Traveling solo most likely.

i understand your point on the Cancun location the set up is vertical for more of a urban life stay meaning going up and down the stairs. while on punta cana it’s like a mini campus where you get to experience a tropical nice stay since experiences are located in diff buildings.

We are planning a trip and are devouring your reviews. In what month(s) were you in Cancun? I am surprised how un-busy the pools are in all your videos. We were in Cabo and had to get up at dawn to get a chair.
Been to both in 2022 and royalton chic Cancun was better in every way. If you want to party at night take a 10 minute walk to all the clubs while royalton chic punta Cana is in a dead location.
@@Coolist Understood! I would keep in mind the cruise ship itself is the destination not so much the ports. The newer ships have all the specialty dining, night clubs, casinos etc. Have fun with it!

Just because I prefer a less noisy hotel doesn't mean its sarcasm..im staying at bahia princepe akumal in May and it has its loud moments but if you require a quiet spot yoi csn find it .54 years old not 70 lol

Considering none of the RCPC pros you mentioned outweigh the pros of RCC, the only thing that would make me pick RCPC is if it's much cheaper.

At my age the last thing I want is a loud, party hotel with a big crowd. When I go on vacation I want to relax in peace and quiet.
Most places are boring and offer you exactly what you are looking for.
