Super glad I found this channel. I’ve had my 99 955 speed triple over 10 years. I’ve ended up doing a lot of what’s in these videos over the years. You make it look so easy. Love the production style, too. Fwiw it’s been my favorite bike I’ve owned. I’ll never get rid of it. So much character, and a great mix of modern and classic.
Hey Casey. Thanks for your comment. Really happy you found some value in these videos! 🙂 They are great bikes indeed. Hope you’ll enjoy your for years to come!
@@garage_tales Here's a question for you. Just recently the bike will have a no crank issue. I'll ride the bike for half an hour, turn it off (with the key), let it set for half an hour or so and when I go to start it it does nothing. No sounds, no clicking, nothing. I'll check to make sure everything is in the proper position, it is and then go to start it again and it starts right up. Any ideas as to what might be causing this issue?
@@rschmidt587 Not sure :) By no sound, do you mean not even the fuel pump? Lights on dash? If the fuel pump primes, I’d possibly start with the clutch switch? Maybe side stand as well?
@@garage_tales All the electronics and fuel pumps are working, just does not engage the starter. And I mean the starter does nothing. Give it a couple more tries and it fires right up. I thought it could be the starter solenoid.
Hi. Bearings @ seal are from a bearing supplier that’s conveniently on my way to work (Marksman industrial) Not sure on the brushes. The owner got those :)
Starter motor mounting is way different according to my service manual and on your bike it looks as though you have what looks like an alternator. On my 955i the stator supplies the voltage.@@garage_tales
Yep, mounting is different but they are quite similar on the inside from memory. Working principle is the same. They did go away from the alternator on newer bikes. I kinda preferred it, but I can see the reasons why they’ve changed it :)

Thanks from Poland
Thank you! 🙂
This was just mesmerizing! Always a pleasure to watch you work!
Thank you!
This was rather nice from someone who "doesn't know what he's doing". Can't wait to hear it running.
Thanks for your comment! And I still don’t know what I’m doing :))
@@garage_tales Can you give us any insight of what other projects are you working on? Have you got any other tool reviews planned for the near future?
That’s a nice idea. Maybe I will, but I don’t want to spoil the surprises :))
Good to watch, I just wish you could have again tested it on the table after rebuilding.
Thanks for your comment! I probably did test it, but didn’t film that bit. Sorry about that 🙂
Good Job!
Thank you! :)

@@rschmidt587 It could be the solenoid, or bad connections. I’m sure you’ll find it once you start looking like into it 😊
Hi , could you give us the link where you bought the brushes and the bearings?

What year Daytona 955i is this one? Definitely not like my 2005 USA version.
It was made in 2000 if I remember correctly. It may not be identical, but I doubt it’s that different :)

Fastidious. 👍
Thank you sir! 🙂
I hope your wife isn't missing her roasting tin or there's going to be trouble
Nope. Cleaned it and put it back. She doesn’t suspect a thing so…shhh🤫
