Going to replace the starter today for my 07 bike. It's the 4th electrical fault for this season already. First the alternator rotor blew (I strongly recommend you change to the updated version before it happens to you). Second fault: ignition cut-off relay (under the ECU) had two blown diodes, replaced that. Third fault was two positive wires shorting in the ignition switch harness, causing either power going on by itself and not shutting by turning the key or showing HI as coolant temp reading causing ECU not to allow the bike to start. First one caused the battery to go flat and second one left me stranded to whichever remote location. And the starter is now the fourth one, I suppose, as new battery died during startup - which points to the same thing that old starter is drawing a huge amount of current. Prior to those faults I already replaced all ignition coils and a headlight relay couple years back. Can't say I have much trust left for Japanase bike electrical systems anymore...
Hi Matt, how about the hesting issue? I find the tempersture soaring extremely high on traffics and it's hard not to feel it for both rider and the pillion.
What happens if you accidentally didn't attach a wire that connected to the power commander did i ruin my ecu. I keep getting a err_code1 and a ticking noise
I did the same shit replacing my stator and flywheel needed to drop my oil pan. I was pissed. 😂😂

Now I'm doing the same operation, I think that I have this problem. 💪🏻
Live an learn. Awesome job
Very good, well done, I have the same bike. I'll check the sprocket cover. TY

What was it doing before you replace the starter motor?
I’m curious for my sake my bike is just clicking when I go to fire it up
Nice video but I would buy the updated rotor.
This the type of b.s that seperates yamaha from other brands. 10x easier to service a starter on a BMW S1000RR
