Wasn't that long ago this channel shocked him hitting 10k subs. Now it's hit 20 times that and I see it mentioned on gaming social media pages too. Well done, good channel
Retro PC gaming on FB is the main one which is Phils Computer Labs from YT, seen him commenting here too. I've seen you mentioned on various gaming posts too (sorry just general recommendation comments so can't refer you to them now). But your channel is being noticed globally dude, so whatever you're doing you're doing it right! Oh and on Steam discussions too btw... Well deserved man, nice short and easy to watch vids
💯 💯 congrats! Well deserved, you go beyond what every person is thinking and make videos about our wildest ideas! Plus you’re the only TH-camr with a petting zoo in the background!
Lets just say u dont use Sombras teleport ability to charge into enemies, you don't use her invisibility for less than a second and you don't hack random enemies.
I have a QHQJ in my current rig, which was underclocked substantially from the factory to 1.6 GHz. When paired with my ASUS Z170-AR, I was able to overclock it using the baseclock multiplier up to 3.26 GHz (burst speed I have no idea) without messing with voltage. The thing worked like a charm, however, I made a misstep when pairing it with a MSI GTX 1060 3G GAMING X. Huuuuuuge bottleneck. Biiiiiiiiiiig mistake. But as far as the CPU is concerned, it is a very good way to get an i7 on the cheap. So glad you did a video on this, and as always, excellent work! :)
Funny thing happened to me recently whilst building some PCs just as a hobby. Bought an "AS IS" 7600k from eBay which ended up not booting with the initial BIOS of my Z170 board - duh. But it still refused to boot with a BIOS update to the latest version from January. The funny thing is, I normally use my spare i5 6400 (capable of pushing 4.6 GHz @1.3V - 1.32V on another mobo), to update it just with onboard graphics. Since it was built into a system at the time, I used a QH8F Skylake engineering sample, I got for $80.50 a few months ago from AliExpress (climbed in price since then) without a GPU, on the mobos HDMI port and it worked. Never tried this earlier because, I just tried ocing, but at stock clocks at least the iGPU works on my sample, which hits 3.7ish GHz btw. on 1.45V (seems high, however stays under 70°C - temps measured normally via Core Temp despite BCLK-ocing) which is fine according to "Tech YES City" - his sample only reached 3.55 GHz @1.42V. Now I just need to try RMA the 7600k in its current state (a bit scratched, a little piece broken off and a small dent near the capacitors) by scanning the tiny QR-Code on top with 10-16x magnification according to Intels official guide - and if this not works resell it with minor loss (only paid 63€).
Ah thanks so much! I've seen so many youtubers using "Intel confidential" cpu's and I was always incredibly confused over them. Thanks for the explanation!
Love the channel bud. 200k u deserve a million more like your channel better then tunnel bear i mean linus lol. But any way keep it up man. I traded my xbox 1 i had 60 $in for a amd quad core pc with a 660 ti and i been playing at 1440p good frame rates. Appreciate the vids man
Wow, 200k! =D Well earned indeed. I think I subbed at around 5k, so it's awesome to see such an amazing channel actually get the recognition it deserves. :) Keep up the excellent work!
Great Video!! And congrats to 200k subs. One thing tho: It would be awesome if you could include more comparisons to your benchmarks. It's nice to see all those frames, but it doesnt help much if there isn't a baseline to compare it to. Of course you can't just run out there and buy a hundred different cpus and gpus, but for the future you could try to source out some comparative benchmarks ^^
Best way to get deals! I got a Haswell xeon es off eBay a few years ago that turned out to be a e3 1275l v3. Turbo was up to 3.9 but with my Asus mobo I was able to lock it to 3.9 full time. Getting a i7 4790 equivalent for $130 ain't bad.
Be sure to look at the sellers reputation and cross reference the CPU part number to try to determine the which ES sample you are getting. I did get scammed once, but got a full, seamless refund from eBay. I also had to do a little searching and translating off of a Russian or Chinese site to actually identify that it was a 1275 v3, but considering that I saved $250 compared to buying a i7 4790 (non k) at the time, It was well worth it. No guarantees though.
Hey, first of all excellent and informative video. Second of all, this background footage was very distracting because of the bright colors and fast moving things, so you should try to find a game that has less of that in it when possible please (San Andreas is always really nice)
dude any chance off using msi on screen display for games so we can see the gpu usage as its always good to see how much if any bottleneck :) another great video dude
I've had a QHQG for couple months and it's pretty good so far. Cost me 190$CAD, and paired with a 100$ Z170-A it's pretty nice. Also mine is at 3.7GHz with no bios mod.
Congrats on the 200K mark! These seem compelling for upgrades, but I always wonder how a processor does at stock speeds to compare it to an i7 3770, and what socket would it be? Both blows my A8-7600 out of the water though, at this point games I play don't like me. lol
I have an Asrock z170m pro4s with the QHQG at 3.85 GHz on the latest official bios. The main issues are the memory has to be run at very bad timings and low frequency to be stable and occasionally it fails to boot and I have to reload my bios profile. Can't wait to switch to a 2nd gen Ryzen once they release the 8 core version.
*PLEASE READ* I recently bought a intel ES cpu, it shows as 4 cores as expected, but only in bios. In Windows it shows as 2 cores. I checked ms confit and tried rebooting and they still only show 2. Help anyone??
Could you maybe try doing Linux benchmarks. Use something like ArchLinux using WINE on games. See how the performance fairs? Would be interesting to see slightly older hardware comparisons between the OS's.
I have a i7-3720qm laptop CPU that's also an engineering sample. Mine was the later stages ones and worked without a bios mod. That said I bought it for very cheap on taobao, a good $100 cheaper than what they sell for even today.

200k. Thank you ☺
RandomGaminginHD Thanks for giving us great content! You deserve all of those subs! Now for 300k!
Congratulations road to 300k :)
WHERE'S THAT BUNGIE JUMP THEN BOI?!?!??!?!?!
U deserve it. Btw overclocking via BCLK skylake locked processors seems interesting :3
i was live watching you when you hit 200k
Thanks for the mention, and the confidential i7s are definitely a bargain! Also congrats on 200k mate!
:)
I have a Pentium 3 Engineering Sample in my collection. I've never run it. I should pull it out and do a video.
+RetroBytes nice :) you definitely should
/watch?v=FQRW0RM4V0k
Which one is it? We might be able to get the model and comperable retail chips by the Sspec number.
HappyBeezerStudios - by Lord_Mogul Great idea. QG41ES. It'd be a Coppermine 667, which I don't have. I'll slueth around a bit.
The OG Xbox had an Pentium3
I love the style of bar charts showing the fps on top of gameplay. Please put this in future videos. Great video as always :)
+Daniel Foss yeah I think I should it looks a lot neater
Are they just there for style or do they actually reflect the differences in the values? I think that would be super cool.
Yay story before sleeping, thanks m8 😍
Can u please not use emojis ever

Congrats on 200k great channel keep her lit.

I still remember when this channel had "just" 17k subs like it was yesterday
Congratulations on 200k mate

Just want to comment that I prefer when your videos use more obscure or older games that people don't play as often anymore for "b-roll" or intros.
dude any chance off using msi on screen display for games so we can see the gpu usage as its always good to see how much if any bottleneck :) another great video dude
Congratulations on 200K.

Congratulations on 200000 subs Steve!
I bought a i7 7700 ES QKYN yesterday but it does not give graphic acceleration, do you have any fix for this
Congrats on the 200K mark!

I had many years ago an QX6700 cpu engineering sample (QUPE) with a Asus P5Q3 motherboard with DDR3.
I still remember when you were at 10k wow youve came along way
Happy 200k!!
Could you maybe try doing Linux benchmarks. Use something like ArchLinux using WINE on games. See how the performance fairs? Would be interesting to see slightly older hardware comparisons between the OS's.
Hey Man, i follow you and tech yes city but, tech yes city is following you on TH-cam ! ;)
Another great video :)
Great topic for a change!
What Asrock BIOS is the one, and would 6600k benefit ?
+Amer Huba any asrock z170 board really, as I've heard they are the most stable
I have a i7-3720qm laptop CPU that's also an engineering sample. Mine was the later stages ones and worked without a bios mod. That said I bought it for very cheap on taobao, a good $100 cheaper than what they sell for even today.
i have one. i5 haswell quadcore 2.6ghz base 3ghz turbo speed. great processor. saved a lot of money on that one
Hey RGHD! Can you make the part two for the old mac purpose
Are you sure this performs as good as an i7 6700?
I have and i7 6700k and I run it with a 1080 ti and its not holding that back
Those 0.1% figures seem a little low to me :(
i have a qhqj on an asus z170m-plus mobo and the non k oc bios for when i had a Pentium but i cant even get the base clock to 101 i have messed around with EVERY setting in the bios pls help me. do i need a different bios for it?
Which is better Xeon E5450, i5 2400, i5 2500, i5 2500k? And between i5 2500k n g4560? I will pair it with 750ti.
out of curiosity my searches are mostly turning up last decades processors for same or double the price

2:07 "the right motherboard" has, at least for me, not been an ASRock though. My Gigabyte Z170-HD3 DDR3 booted, but hung immidiately with my QH8F on an old Stock BIOS. (It is in RMA for a second time right now, because it died and after repair, they flashed a new irreversable - at least not easily - BIOS which does not support engineering Samples. I told them to reverse that.) Though some random BIOS mod off a shady russian forum linking to some russians Google Drive worked perfectly flashing it right from the post screen utility with [end]. I would have thanked those guys if I spoke russian. Then during the first RMA of said board, I decided to give a refurbished ASRock Board a go, the Z170M Extreme4 booted perfectly, but did not with the slightest oc far from what the chip had already achieved - even with the so called "korean BIOS mod" - so it became a new home for the i5 6400 which it oced with a version whose changelog said "remove Sky OC feature". Yeah, ASRock were very honest about this...
A few weeks later, I pulled the trigger on an ASUS Z170-E one for 60€, just to try it too. It booted and oced the QH8F just fine right from the get go. My experience with ASRock and baseclock ocing was really confusing, since almost everyone said "ASRock are best, Gigabyte okay and ASUS worst." - for me the opposite was the case. You've changed man. A year ago 25fps would have been an almost acceptable average, now it's stutter lol
I have four PCs. Three of them are running ES. I have a 14/28 core Broadwell E Xeon (X99) a 10/20 core Broadwell E (X99) and a 2680V2 Ivy 8/16 ES Xeon. You can learn a lot from the code. Was my i5 3470 for 35€ a good deal?
+Dennis Jassmann yes :)
Thx for the quick response. Spent a bit of money on my PC this year and the GTX 770 video came out a couple of days after i got mine.
Keep up the Good Content!
Congrats on 200K
Dennis Jassmann Should've gone for a cheaper i5 (like a 2400) and bought a gtx 780 instead, but 770 is still great.
PaneledPear6555 Bought Local since i am not an adult so ebay was out of the question. I bought it in a store and I got the 770 for 80€
Was running an i3 2120 before, so it either had to be Sandy or Ivy Bridge
Love you man... but good God is it hard to watch that Overwatch gameplay. Maybe take some best clips?
I remember how QX9650 and QX9750 ES was much better than retail. Of course all reviewers got the ES.
With ES, SLI worked, retail ... well not so much. only on a few motherboards later on. retail also did not clock as good as ES, surprise surprise.
As a Sombra main with 90 hours on her... I preffer you to play Soldier 76 instead. xD
how does it compare to my old but cool i7 3770k?
I just got my Q9300 PC set up and... Oh, looks like i7 engineering samples are out.
Could u do ryzen 5 2400 review? :)
Can I consider this beta product as a high end processor?
>High end processor
>Stutters like shit
Pick one.
Horizon Gamers An i7 2600k is better than these beta i7s.
PaneledPear6555 - Older CPUs have more micro stutter on newer games because of their core architecture. Even you have an i7 4790K(which is fairly powerful), the latency is still noticeable compared to newer i5/i7. Altair Foo no that is false if your cpu isnt used 100% wich it will never will if ur gaming at 60 fps
Altair Foo Umm... Check some results for the 2600. Little stutter but the max fps is a bit lower.
Can i use this cpu in my h110m mobo?
Xeon E5 2686 v3 engineering samples sold for 350 euros a 1.5 year ago, any, even budget x99 motherboard would support them,18 cores and 36 threads with 3.5 ghz turbo boost would be good even today in productivity
Can u oc ES processors on z270 motherboards?
Buen video Random!!!!
When your company is so broke, that you were paid with ES CPUs.
which is better ryzen 5 2600 or i7 QHQG??
I have an unreleased Intel Jayhawk, and I've tried running it. My server's motherboard TDP isn't high enough to power the Jayhawk.
I just ordered a pre buit dell i5 and I thought it was a 2500 and I ordered a 660 by accident
2% health...runs past health pack lel gotta love this guy
Nice one
