Wooooow, bad idea watching this video on an empty stomach! Great video, we are flying out to Hawaii tomorrow morning and will defiantly have to check out some of these. I also like the music choice in the intro.
Thanks for posting your video. When Im hungry for breakfast, Im headed towards Waimea at Hawaiian Style Cafe. ( large pancakes that you cant finish, large portions, down home folks)...That's my kind of spot...Bring your appetite!
If you like mochi, you gotta try two ladies kitchen in hilo. Teshima's is a old school Japanese restaurant in honalo(kona side) also really good. Hayashi's you make the roll sushi in the heart of kailua is a must, but be prepared to wait - it's a tiny hole in the wall but it's worth it. Just a few of my faves 🌴🌺 Aloha from Big Island 🤙
Could you tell me what kind of weather to expect around new years day? That's when we're coming. I'm guessing be prepared for hot as well as wet, and possibly cooler evenings. Any tips would be appreciated. We are staying on the north shore.
Hawaiian Style Cafe by far was the best place we ate recently. We stayed in Hilo and we ate here 5 times over 7 days. Was the best place for LOCO MOCO's. Everything we ate there was good!! A must try! You will thank me later!
Island style cafe in Waimea get some ono grindz, and cafe 100, noris, no.1 Chinese bbq and so many more.. not to mention cronies bar and grill which is better than cafe pesto and a few doors down
Great video:) I hope you guys enjoyed our Island! Next time you visit you gotta make it a point to stop in and try 2 Ladies kitchen. Great Mochi. Famous for their strawberry mochi but the brownie and seasons Pumpkin Mochi are really good
OMG we tried!! They were closed and we were heartbroken. But definitely going to make sure we visit on a day that they're open next time. That strawberry mochi is to die for.
Sorry guys, you have no clue what you are talking about. I have been a Director of Food & Beverage for 24 years, and I have been living on the Big Island for 30 years. None of the places you mentioned in your video even come close to being in the Top 5. The best restaurant on the island is Meridia, bar none. Paolo's in Pahoa is probably the best Italian restaurant in the whole state. Merriman's in Waimea would be #3, Roy's in Waikoloa would be #4, and Hayama in Kona would be #5.
Those are some great places, thanks for sharing! Our list of top restaurants is from our own haole perspective. We don't claim to know everything there is to know about the Big Island, because as occasional visitors, we most certainly don't. Thanks for watching 🙏
yea hayama is up there on my list too. they're as authentic as it gets. my wife is from osaka and she says the sushi and tempura are as good as japan restaurants.
Da Poke Shack south of Kona on Ali'i Drive is awesome too. It's a little fish market basically but there are picnic tables outside.
Awesome, thanks for the tip! We'll check it out next time we're in town.
Going here in 2 weeks! I’m so excited! This video is helpful thank you 😊
And The Coffee Shack has the very best lilikoi cheesecake and one of the best coastal views on the island.

@@GeminiDiscover No problem. There are many good restaurants on the Big Island, I just took issue with your description of the "5 Best.."
yea hayama is up there on my list too. they're as authentic as it gets. my wife is from osaka and she says the sushi and tempura are as good as japan restaurants.
@@gregh7457 I had a Japanese girlfriend and she said the same thing. Unfortunately, Hayama recently closed because of health issues of the owner.
Lol that’s not the five best restaurant you find take time to find better places to eat
