"Dresden" sounds as "Enola gay" with modern synthesizer sounds. It's really a pity that O.M.D. doesn't get more attention from most radio stations. Their sound is still inspired and great ! Thank you, Andy & Paul
IF THIS TRACK HAD COME OUT IN THE 80s, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A NUMBER ONE SMASH HIT. TO COME BACK WITH SUCH A GREAT TRACK IS AMAZING.

i just started fully listening to OMD in September 2016. I was born in the mid-80's and i'm a huge 80's fan. These guys are literally the best 80's synth pop band. They were way ahead of their time with their music, if only they had the music technology back then, IMAGINE what they could have done!! Their lyrics and music vibes are unique like no other band, even up until today. I am now and forever a OMD fan!! HIstory of Modern and English Electric are pure gold! can't wait for their next album in September 2017.

The thing is, they'd probably not have developed the same style if they'd started out with all the modern digital bells & whistles equipment. They were quite experimental with sound choices starting in the analogue time and used various equipment, and the subjects they chose to write about were often unpredictable. Luckily they found a unique eclectic voice to produce both catchy singles that stood out from the crowd, and more powerful, often longer, album tracks. As soon as you hear an OMD track, you know it's them (not something that can be said about every band). So I'm glad they took the exact route they did, slowly honing and polishing their style. :-)
@@marquonuk exactly.The Human League's songs (for example) were too generic and did not age well,unlike OMD.
I still like Depeche Mode but some of their albums changed too drastically.After Violator they disappointed me though their new album is quite fantastic.

These lads have written some great songs over the years, but this has to rank up there with the best. Killer of a song.

Brilliant band, brilliant song and video!
Just discovered that song some hours ago. I don't know many songs of OMD, I was scrolling through their albums as suddenly an EP named after my hometown showed up, with the song of the same name being part of it. 😅 Could be referring partly to the bombing of Dresden in WW2, they said it's a metaphor, no matter if it is or not, still a really good and catchy song. So, greetings from the wonderful city of Dresden. 😇
The entire album is just amazing. To me it's like no time has passed at all from the height of their career in the 80's. Listening to this brings me back to my teens. A perfect transition, you've made a sound that sounds like the 80's as well as fresh as modern at the same time. I wish you'd come to Sweden and play, I would definately be there!

Yes, this album and The Punishment of Luxury recall their soaring heights of their 1981-1983 era.

They are still making albums. The last one came out in 2023. They have toured Europe this year already and are going to tour the U.S. in the Fall.

Seen OMD in Birmingham a few months ago. They were by far the best live act to have come here for a long time. Start to finish on our feet dancing and singing the hits. Great night can't wait to see them again. Dresden best song on there new album.

I really wish they would put this song into their setlists! It’s got that classic OMD sound, and would be great live. There’s too few songs since they reformed that Andy plays bass on, and that might be a reason that this song sounds so great.

There's a lot of of Joe Meek and The Tornadoes (methinks Telstar) going on here but nothing wrong with that. The May gig in Dublin was brilliant - third time to an OMD Dublin gig. They give it everything. Never dissapointed.
