191 - Prickery Purple Thistle
Composite (compound) flowers are very different in the way their petals are laid out. Instead of having petals, pistils and stamens easily visible, they have disc and ray florets. Each disc and ray floret is its own individual flower, having its own pistil and stamen. Some composite flowers have only disc florets like this purple thistle. Science is so amazing.
