Hey thank you for watching! We appreciate it! It’s honestly a great bike! He loves it and took to it almost right away. The benefits of a steel frame are so good! Hope to see you out one day as well!
WOW!! That is a really good deal for that bike. Man, you are going to love it! Since both my son and I have steel hardtails, my opinion steel is absolutely the best frame material for a hardtail. Yes they are heavier than other bikes but we don’t notice it. When riding, it hard not to have a big smile on your face! I’ve done several videos on the steel aggressive hardtail. Check out the link! Thank you for watching and man, you’re going to love the new bike! @@dirtyforksmtb I'm deciding between the GT Force Sport Full Squish 1350 or the 2022 Norco Torrent ht s2 1,100. Both at similar price ranges with shipping + taxes included on Jenson USA what yawl think
Hey man thanks for watching and you have a big decision to make! It is hard to decide on bikes. First off, those two bikes are very different from each other. I just went to Jenson website to check out the GT. That bike has a great build spec and the geo puts it between a trail bike and enduro. So both bikes are intended for the same type of trail use. In my opinion the price difference is negligible. It’s going to come down to whether or not you want to be in a fully or a hardtail. The bike industry wants you on a full squish that’s for sure. My son and I both ride hardtails because we like how they give way more trail feedback and I think you have to be a bit more of a technical rider as they are much less forgiving than a FS. The steel frame hardtail is also an extremely good material for hardtails. I did a video about that as well. The aggressive hardtail is also one of the most versatile bikes out there. One day we could be riding mellow XC trails and the next we could be riding park! They just take it all. A full suspension is more comfortable and much better at smoothing out the trails as well as being a bit faster because you can just plow through lines. So it all depends on what you’re looking for out of a bike and what trail experience you like! But from what I see on paper you can’t go wrong with either. I would just say though that the brakes on the GT are not as good as the Norco but those could be changed later. I will say that both of us love our steel aggressive hardtails. The confidence inspiring ride of a full squish also can’t be ignored. Let me know if you have any other questions! I love talking bikes!
@@dirtyforksmtb Thanks so much for the discussion I have a old Ironhorse big box full suspension bike, I'm looking for something more modern I can improve on. I was leaning towards the Norco HT because of the Geo/steel, it would also allow for bike packing but it's quite heavy 35lb HT. The GT is a nice specked FS, it's more forgiving I'm in WV a very hilly mountainous state, just a few hours from snowshoe bike park so the rear shock would be nice for that but I never been to a park yet. I got a big decision to make both such great bikes.
Man you are so right! I literally just made the decision yesterday to create a new video about the hardtail and why full suspension seems to be ruling the market. Hardtails are cool and and so much fun! Everyone talks about how awesome full suspensions are and how people consider even a low entry level spec to be an upgrade from a hardtail no matter the spec. I honestly don’t get it. I am in the same boat as you, very refreshing to see HT content for sure. My son and I both rock hardtails, and love every minute of it! Thanks for watching and for solidifying the need to make that video!👍👌
It’s 33.9lbs tubeless and different bars and stem from stock. Most of the weight comes from the steel frame. Weight is not a bad thing though. At least not in my opinion. Depending on what you ride though of course.
Oh Boy!! You’re in for a treat. It will take some getting used to so make sure you give yourself some time with it. Eventually you’ll be going bigger and faster than ever! The aggressive hardtail is one of the most versatile bikes on the market. This particular bike has all geo in exactly the right spots!
Thank you! And thanks for watching! This bike had everything he wanted on it. He was looking into the Honzo DL but he wanted steel and the spec level of this bike meant no need for upgrades!
He loves the bike. He said the more he rides it the better it gets. Had it since September 4th! Yes, he is growing very fast! I’m convinced he will be 6ft by spring….
@@dirtyforksmtb My younger son is a smidge under 5 feet, and he is eyeing a Kona Cinder Cone for when he outgrows his GT Stomper, because I ride a Mahuna. If your son rode his "Sender Cone" until he reached 5'9"ish, I'm hoping that'll be the case with us and save me the hassle of bike shopping for mine again too soon, although he's also growing fast. Cheers!
I’m trying to think when Owen got the Sendercone, how tall he was. I believe 5’ or just under. It was ever so slightly big for him. He got it in the month of September and then in the spring it fit him well. I knew he was going to outgrow it. I went for a run one morning in august and he rode his kona and he was ahead of me so I was watching him and I thought, that bike is just too small for him now…. And this, the torrent! So you’re on a Mahuna, basically the sendercone’s big brother where by the only difference I believe is 29er wheelset. So you know how good that bike is. I can’t recommend the Cindercone highly enough for a kid getting into mtb. It is such a solid bike. It’s heavy but the weight is actually beneficial. You can’t go wrong.
wow. 5'9" is a large . on Comenical i am between small and medium, for GT i dead smack in medium. i have the same fork on my GT, and yes it is squishy ...
Yes, I’ve noticed bike brands sizing charts are all over the map. In the case of this bike, it seems to be a good size for him. Thank you for watching and commenting. We appreciate it!
That is an awesome bike. I have been looking at the Torrent A2 for a hardtail. Enjoy Owen great ride. Hope to see you guys on the trails one day.

Just ordered a 2022 from Jenson for $949. Plan to pick it up tomorrow👍. My first steel HT.

I'm also 5'8 1/2 height you think medium would be the perfect sweet spot for sizing ?
Its refreshing to see some gnarly sends on a hardtail these days! 🤘 Great bike!
