I've owed you guys a big thank you because you've had a significant impact on my English level, the other day I've started watching your videos speaking, thinking and either understanding something in English was terrible, but right now I can easily do these and important than others, I'm super confident while communicating in English! Love and respect for both of you from Iran♥

You guys are too good seriously, yours teaching style really help me a lot. When i started to see yours videos and until now i see it has same interest.I love you guys.Thank you💚
I do not read as often as used to because my hands are always full but whenever I have my free time I read english books and watch u tube.Thank you very much and wish you all the best my dear Mr. Mark and Ms Kat.
Thanks for sharing! I agree that watching TH-cam is a lot easier than reading. When I pick up my book, I have to remember the story, and focus my mind, whereas on my phone I can just pick it up and watch funny cat videos 🐱
Thank you both!! Mark and Kat for your huge commitment to this work !! your are my best teachers ever !! Not only am I learning faster but also you guys keep me so entertained !! with all the interesting and useful topics you present . So so grateful indeed !!! 🧡💚💙💜
Thank you so much for such a lovely comment! We're really happy to hear you enjoy our classes and our topics! It gives us lots of motivation to keep making more for you!
Hey my favorite TH-cam teachers ! Tysssmmm I learn so much with you guys !! Last book I read was "Forget tomorrow", it's the second of a series of four sci-fi books that I really enjoyed reading ! If you liked sci-fi/action movies like Divergent or Hunger Games, I really recommend it. (I actually had a limited period to read it because I didn't buy it, I borrowed it from the library and I had to put it back soon enough, so when I started I couldn't put it down ! It was a book that started really well, because it aroused my curiosity during the first chapters, then a few chapters were kind of slow but a few ones later all the actions and plot twists came one after the other and during the whole book I waited for the ending that could not be predictable... then came the ending... i couldn't go to sleep that night, the book was keeping me awake for more and more minutes and after i finished it i really stayed shocked and i kept thinking about it for a few days.) I prefer fantastic and Sci/Fi books ! Two different types haha, the first concerning magic worlds, superpowers and secret princesses, and the second one dealing with time travelers, modern devices etc I prefer by faaar physical books, I actually agree with all what Mark said about the feeling of the pages between my fingers, the smell of the books, the fact that I can see how I move forward in the story and how I'm approaching the end faster and faster. The only negative thing is that I need to turn on the light at night to read them lmao, that's what I did yesterday night while reading for the tird time Harry Potter til 1am haha (Yeah i literally wrote an essay omg)
Tous les deux sont excellents, et cette alternance, l’ un en anglais , l autre en américain donnent du charme. En résumé un grand de plaisir et en même temps un peu de travail pour nos neurones. Kkk Un grand merci à vous ! Un français qui vous aime bien.
Hey there ! Now that you've become a part of our daily routine 😅it's OK to be a bit of informal 😊 Reading O what a captivating title 📚 📖 I have a great knack for reading, in fact ,I can't let a day pass by without reading at least one or two pages , this habit has grown on me for the last few years 😅 when I was at my early 20s, I bought a lot of books related to English literature major from Oscarwild to Virginia Wolf to many more like Shakespeare's plays and whatnot 😅 Anyway, now that Iam at my late 30s ,I've come to a conclusion that knowledge is power and one of the most effective ways to enrich your knowledge is reading 📚 ❤ I read many genres of books from classical to thrillers ...I enjoy the moments in which I seclude myself in my reading Nook 😅 and BTW, I only read physical books for they give me this amazing feeling when turning the page or smelling the pages 😅 I wish I could spend most of my time reading, it's my safe resort ❤
Thanks so much for sharing! If you have read Oscar Wilde, Virginia Woolf and even Shakespeare then you might be better read than some English speakers! Those authors write in very old or sophisticated / complex style, so reading them in the original English can be quite a challenge. Reading is a great habit - I wish I read as often as you do!
I understand you both perfectly, I understand a lot of sources of information including news and I even have a practice every day with ChatGPT during my trips across America. But I really don’t understand people who more older and live in Midwest. Today one older man came up to me , spoke to me and I realized that I don’t know English at all I just nodded and smiled to him.
It’s normal sometimes to not be able to understand some older people from the country who often use expressions or slang or people with a thick accent. When Mark goes to America he can’t understand some people on the phone and when I go to the UK I can’t always understand the people right away! It’s very normal even for native speakers! I hope that doesn’t deter you, we can joke and laugh about our “lack” of English together 😂
Hello! Thanks a lot for the lesson! It was very useful in terms of both vocab and listening practice Regarding the questions: - Currently I am into Isaac Azimov's books. I heard about the sequel wrritten by him from the guy on the internet. It came highly recommended, so I decided to pick it up. It turned out to be a great read! I really enjoyed the plot, although that's not one of those holiday reads. So if you like action based books with a drop of philosophy - that one is for you! - Well, speaking of the last book that I read... Currently I'm finishing the sequel I mentioned before. That's the last book, so I'm kinda excited about the ending. I hope it won't be one of those reads with an open end. I prefer clarity, although books with an open end give room for your imagination. - Favorite type - usually I prefer hard books loaded with eeehhh philosophy... I adore books that make me think by raising difficult and controvertiary questions. Every time I get what the author wanted to say or I come across a question that I didn't think about my brain goes like YEEEEEHAAAAAAA. OMG! What a nice point! What a perfect question!!!! Some time ago I was into romantic books, but now I hate them, although I read Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen quite often) - And when it comes to e-books or book-books (not sure how to spell that) I definitely prefer the latter! I really like the view of my bookshelf with my collection on it. I don't always have time to read but I hope one day I'll finish them all! I really like the way book lies in my hand and, as Mark said, it brings joy to see how you are moving towards the end... slowly but surely! Also I like paperback books because I can leave comments on pages. I know you can do this in e-reader as well, but it's not the same. I have a special bookmark for making comments - it's a thick thread with a short pencil on the end. It often comes in handy)
Wow - thank you for such a detailed and thoughtful comment! Well done also for using lots of the vocabulary from the episode as well! I've heard of Asimov but never had a chance to read any of his books, but I've heard good things! "Book books" isn't really a formal definition, so you can write it with a hyphen in between or just as 2 words, whichever you prefer!
I can hardly remember the last book i read! Recently I've been allocating almost all my free time to learning english and when I pick up a book it's mainly to learn english, so i don't have to get thought it entirely....
Interesting idea! Yes getting through a whole book can be hard, especially if its long. Taking it in small chunks if often an easier and more effective way to remember new vocabulary and phrases as you go. 😀
Hi, Thanks! I probably don't read as often as I think. Sometimes, I'll pick up a book again after a few months. I still prefer physical books because I like the feel and smell of the pages. The last book I read was an easy read; it wasn't anything special, but I liked it.❤
I'm already reading a book about nothing isn't by accident, and it's elaborate on that any person you've ever seen, any message you've ever received or any thing had happened in your life had a meaning it wanted to tell you something and if you hadn't got it, it was your problem not this world.
hi kat and Mark . i hope everything are going great with you and thanks again for this cracking lesson . i prefer book books much more to e reader. because digital books really get my eyes tired.but physical ones are kinder on my eyes. honstly i haven't read long time as i am always scrolling on the phone . my favourite books are thriller and fantasy ones and i really agree with kat about that feeling which i just couldn't put the book down back when i read it . i am devasted to know the result. anyway i think it is good to knock my head off let me know spend less time on the phone and pick a few good book out to read
Thanks very much for watching and studying with us! You sound just like me - I have a book sitting on my nightstand, but I always end up scrolling on my phone instead!
Im reading a books called "the power of the now", its about self-knowledge. The last book I've read was "the unbearable lightness of being" by Millan Cundera, but sadly I didn't can read the last part 😞 I'm a historian and right now it bored me, but I like autobiographies. I actually prefer the real book books ❤
Very interesting! I can't say I've heard of either of those books, but I also like autobiographies (as long as the person actually writes them and doesn't hire a "ghost" writer haha). Whose autobiographies have you read?
I like reading whodunit on e-book. Most lately I read "why didn't they ask Evans?". Why had I chosen this? Because I saw the TV show . It was quite amazing.
Ah yes, I have heard of this one! That's a really good point about TV shows as well. Often when there is a successful TV show or movie, the book goes into best seller list afterwards!
I'm fond of reading books. I've read "The Good Girl's Guide to a Murder" lately and it was quite alright, actually. It's one of these whodunit stories. Although I don't read many books of this genre, I find it okay. I cannot decide which genre is best for me. I pick up different types of books. Sometimes light hearted, sometimes more kind of belles-lettres. I suppose it's better so. If I got stuck to only one genre, it would be so dull for me. Like when you keep reading crime stories, don't you feel like reading one book again and again? Riddles, suspects, crazy detectives all the time... too many schemes too often :) E-readers are very good match for me, but what I like the most are audiobooks. A good voice can really add value to a book. For example, another whodunit by the way what a coincidence 😂, when I was listening to "Cocoo's calling" in Polish it was such a nightmare. Polish actor screwd it up totally. I decided to switch to English version and it was really okay, even despite the fact that I didn't understand every single word! So yeah, books rule ❤ PS. Feel free to correct my mistakes 😂
Wow - thanks so such a thoughtful comment! I've heard of that 'whodunit' book, but I haven't read it. If you're interested in a book in the same genre, '"The Thursday Murder Club" has been a huge success in the UK and been on the best seller list for a while.
