- Över sjö och land (Over sea and land). I have always played this polska while in the USA.
It has its origin in Malung in the province of Dalarna. Malung is close to Norway and the province of Värmland which can be seen in the dance and heard in the fresh style/dialect of the music.
Över sjö och land is in the tradition of Lejsme Per Larsson 1822 - 1907. Lejsme is dialekt for Lie-Smed (scythe smith). He lived a as a poor person but a grand fiddler who had played at 124 weddings. It was said that he learned to play from ”Näcken” (the devil in the waters).
