    Thanks for a very nice review and the opening of the review was a really cool surprise (keep it up). I like today's Land Rover and especially the new Defender, but unfortunately it is too expensive. Then the new Discovery is a more sensible choice, although of course not an equally hardcore off roader, but still a fun car in this format. I have long experience from Land Rover Series III (88 "and 109") but these cars are old now and most of all for a trip back memory lane :)

    As for the Land rover. All I hear about JLR cars is constant problems. I wonder if the new engines will add some reliability. Also, at 63k, couldn't you get a Defender? I think that's the cool one in their lineup.

      thanks!! Clearly the GLB is the more practical car with the higher build quality m8. And other competition in this segment would rather be VAG, like VW Tiguan Allspace, Skoda Kodiaq, Seat Tarraco (you can find all these reviews here as well, youtube search Autogefuehl Skoda Kodiaq etc. if you want to compare

    The dream car of my wife and me since we live in the mountains and drive between our workplace in one valley of Salzburg to our cottage in East Tyrol located on 1360m (there is a lot of snow during winter). W alsoe have our skis during the whole winter inside the car (we will only buy a car with a 40:20:40 backseat).
    I´m very curious how the P300e hybrid will pass the tests, since it is our favourite.

    At 15:45 you show frustration using the volume touch control swiping up and down to change the volume. However you are simply not using the control correctly. To change volume you simply use the control the same as a volume knob and spin your finger clockwise or anti clockwise to adjust volume. Again this is explained in the instruction manual.

    A very fine review and some lovely camerawork. One point, as a newDiscovery Sport owner, the removable tray can be neatly stored in a vertical slot within the centre armrest storage area. There are slots which it sits in so it doesn’t get in the way. It’s a very well designed car. There are also built in slots to hold your mobile phone so it doesn’t rattle around. One at the bottom of the storage area and one within the cup holders.

      Autogefühl btw..we have the D180 engine and we are getting around 38 mpg with mostly city driving. This is seems acceptable to us. There is also a PHEV version coming out soon. Looking forward to seeing more of your channel, I think it’s one of the very best. Well done to all involved.

    It’s better to have the hot keys at bottom. You can rest your finger on the ledge. The whole problem with touch screens is that the car always bumps just you’re about to press the screen and you miss the button.

    • @AdityaJayaram

  • @richardwilton722

    Shame you didn’t try out the hill descent control. You went to great lengths to explain that it didn’t have a traditional transfer box. The HDC is meant to substitute for that by using the ABS system to control wheel speed on steep descents.

    I am puzzled...my 2018 DS HSE Luxury Black with SD4 240 engine is very refined on the autobahn...it is quiet, smooth and returns 40.1mpg repeatedly. As for performance. It is deep chested with torque if you drive it using larger throttle openings. The ride is transformed with adaptive suspension and again, at 160kph it settles and lowers to give excellent refinement. Mine has now covered 22900 miles so maybe has freed up compared to new. It concerns me that reviews seem to find disappointment. Now saying it is not able to deal with mud and ruts is completely ridiculous!!! Your tester needs to drive the car properly on a Land Rover test track and THEN he will discover just what it will deal with!!! When you climb or descend rough tracks at 1:2 gradients with the car under complete control, then you will realise that it is very fitted for off road. Sadly...this review is very inaccurate and does not give a correct report!!! please send your man to learn, experience and understand just what he is testing!!!!

    • @calmills4843
      @calmills4843 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I'm not too puzzled. Reading the fuel consumption from the instruments is a bit arbitrary and just a snap-shot (versus, say, an owner doing numerous average tank-to-tank actual measurements). If you're used to a firmly set up X3 or Macan, you'd find the softer Disco Sport and XC60 "less sporty" but more relaxing. AJ never said the Disco Sport was poor off road, indeed I think he said the contrary - and he did not have a Land Rover test track to check it out on. AJ gave us good detail of the interior, and I think he said it was refined, quiet and calm on the autobahn! An HSE Luxury Black 240 - nice. This "all-new", or face lift, seems to have a much better quality interior than previous. Cheers.

    If the sound system varies in quality between different sources, that’s nothing to do with the speakers or amplifier.

    • @AdityaJayaram
      @AdityaJayaram 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That cover is for the cup holders. If your remove the cup holders from the central cubby, then you're left with an opening in front of the arm rest.

    • @richardwilton722
      @richardwilton722 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Aditya Jayaram You mean that once you’ve removed the cup holders you can’t refit the lid? That isn’t a great idea. I can imagine ditching the cup holders. I can’t understand (irony warning) how i managed to survive my first 25 years of driving with nowhere to put a cup of hot coffee that it’s dangerous to drink while driving. On my car, the cup holders are always sitting there looking at me uselessly.

    Touch screens need to be banned. They're rubbish to use, a distraction when driving and who wants to see a screen fully of greasy finger marks.
    Surely the big slot on either side of the central storage area is for the beverage cover to slot into for neat stowage?

    A fair and objective rewiew.But as I watched it my view of modern automobiles was reinforced in so far as they have become mere technology platforms,and are devoid of all character (both good and bad) and enjoyable eccentricities.In effect,what i am saying is that the manufacturers have turned us into safety first automatons,where any degree of individuality,either in the car or the driver must be expunged.Like Hammond I yearn for the sports car with that unique design feature....the ever so slightly leaking roof.I accept the desire for perfection......just don't achieve it.

    Unreliable brand, not interested...….next...……...

    • @ClaireYunFarronXIII
      @ClaireYunFarronXIII 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can easily make Land Rover, or any "unreliable" brand reliable, by properly maintaining it and having warranty on it. Simple. If you can afford it, you definitely can maintain it, because the car itself is already "expensive." I say this because I have a colleague who has a Land Rover and she is managing just fine with it...and now it is reaching its seventh or eighth year. Hers was about €80 000. She has no family to look after, she is not married or dating anyone, so she might as well spend more money on herself. She has the right to do so, it's her money. Besides, no one buys (or should buy) a luxury car for reliability. The same goes for supercars.
      Final note: your car has to match your salary, not be above it. Only if you have a luxury salary can you afford and maintain a luxury car. Same applies to buying a Maybach or a Rolls Royce, for example. There are target markets for car brands. It always baffles me that people (usually Americans) buy a car they cannot afford, then blame the brand when it breaks due to lack of proper servicing for said car or when payments are not fulfilled.
      Long-story-short, buy a car within your budget and have a service plan. Boom. Reliable. But you are not interested...so. No life lesson learned, lol.

    • @modmod392
      @modmod392 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lightning Farron I must disagree. I have given this manufacturer 3 chances to deliver a reliable product. Three times I was disappointed.
      This had nothing to do with money - thankfully far from it.
      Warranty repairs abounded, time consuming inconvenience was abundant and all three cars with a combined value of £260,000 were therefore hugely disappointing.
      I don’t have the time or inclination to waste visiting dealers and arguing about warranty points.
      These have been fundamentally unreliable vehicles with limited support from the dealer network.
