Went to my bow shop today. Shot the Form. Walked out 30 minutes later having ordered it in Morel. Excited for this one. Keeping my Carbon Era for the time being, but the Prime will be my workhorse come spring turkey. Great videos! Helps having these reviews along with the bow shop and test shooting. Thanks!

I didn't know we had so many here in the know about this exact riser design. I mean, it seems that almost everyone on here already knows what this bow is going to shoot like and feel like and that it's just not going to work. I just didn't realize we had that many bow designers on here. Im in awe of all your psychic bow knowledge. I wish I could tell what a bow was going to be like without shooting it. It sure would save time.

As always pj, nice review! Prime has always chosen to be different and innovative for better or worse. Some people are calling this bow ugly. Personally i think it is unique and in typical prime fashion, thinking outside of the box, and looking to change the traditional look of the modern compound bows. Good for them!

  • @mikem8295

I can’t remember a single bow release where people weren’t wildly disappointed and hating on everything. Prime is doing exactly what everyone is constantly asking for. Real innovation and thinking outside the box. I think the thing looks cool, and it’s a clever way of reducing weight while maintaining, or possibly increasing rigidity. I’ve never owned a prime so I’m not a fanboy. I respect and appreciate a company taking some chances and trying to move the needle a little bit. Bows have mostly stalled out the last decade in terms of performance. Maybe the reduced cost to machine smaller parts will allow more tech in areas where companies just need to save money? I don’t know. To me it’s cool. Less negativity!

This bow release reminds me of when the Mathews Z7 first came out. So many people criticized the riser design and parallel limbs. But it quickly caught on after people gave it a shot. In fact it's in my top 3 favorite bows I ever owned. I applaud Prime for taking chances with innovated designs.

Thanks for the very in-depth review PJ. From talking with the designer/engineer, to a quick tune, to shooting on the range. It would have been neat to show the cam spacer change and how that is done, but overall excellent review on a very innovative, newly designed bow. Draw cycle looks pretty smooth. I do see a bit of left/right shake when you reach anchor and I've seen this in other reviews as well, but with a good stabilizer that settles down very quickly. Thanks again, I appreciate you taking the time to do all this!

I'm a longtime traditional archer who's just now dabbling in compound bows -- the design of this bow is super nice to me. Something that is a bit lame about compound bows is they all pretty much have the same jagged, angular, skeletonized look to them to save weight. But just the visual design of this bow alone has me putting it on my "someday" buy list.

Carbon fiber doesn't expand or contract with the type of heat and cold we could physically endure. Neither will aluminum. You're string and cables would be more effected. The most stable guitars are made of carbon fiber and aluminium and given the string tension of about 200lbs it doesn't budge those guitar necks.

@@jasonnester9514 That's what I see when I look at it too hopefully it works because I like prime but it looks like a disaster waiting to happen to me. But I'm also not an engineer and I'm basing that off of what it looks like engineers have been working on it for years.

Totally agree. Had a quiver, Mountain light, looks very similar to the rods you see here. After shooting my bow those connection point came loose. I am sure this has better adhesive, but how many shots until one fails? What if it fails at full draw?

How does prime compare to hoyt. I thought prime qas hands down way better shooting then my hoyt. So much easier to group with a prime. At way farther yardages also. My hoyt sucks. But everyone seems to love hoyt and say their the best out there. As someone who shoots a 1500 dollar hoyt. I disagree

And how exactly does it provide no practical advantages or functionality? The advantage is more controlled riser flex for a more consistent shot. The functionality is that it is an bow that shoots arrows.
