学生の頃、乗ってました。シャフトドライブの癖で、加速する時、車体が左に傾きました。いいバイクでした。
懐かしい！
発売した当時、大型二輪の教習所がなく一発試験は夢のまた夢、750の大きさに憧れてGL400を購入。
40年前、私も乗っていました。当時400ccでは珍しい水冷 Ｖ型２気筒OHV
DOHC全盛の時代に異色でした シャフトドライブでチェーン音が無し
右に倒れこみ、左から起き上がる癖が有り最初に乗ったときは右バンク時に
気を使ったのを覚えています、もう一度乗ってみたいな～。
僕も乗ってました！ 水冷、キック無し、シャフトドライブ、コムスターホイール、OHV と、当時珍しいことだらけのバイクでしたね。買った時には大感激だったなあ！
私も乗ってました。このバイクは世界で始めてチューブレスタイヤを採用したりして革新的でした。
60とか70ｋｍ/ｈで流すのが最高に気持ち良かった。
クルージングが得意で、ツーリング気分を盛り上げてくれた。

とにかく重くてブレーキが利かんかった。縦置きエンジンの反トルク感やシャフトドライブとか、癖のあるバイクでしたね。
当時、変わったエンジンのバイクだな～と…今も同じ気持😅
当時、中免で大型気分を味わいたい方が乗ってました。
懐かしい。バイト仲間が乗ってました。重くてネぇ〜（笑）。僕のCBX250RSより出足遅かったですwww。
これも乗ってました。静か過ぎるエンジン！これもオシャカにしてしまった！

初めて買ったバイク。
25年前、レッドバロンにて16万で売られていたバイクだ。
当時中学生でイキっていた私は「安いな！ダセー！」と思っていたが今思うととても良いバイクである。
If they called the GL1100 the "Gold Wing" and the GL650 the "Silver Wing" in the US, would Honda have called this GL400 the "Bronze Wing" had they brought it here?
This is completely different from GL1100. In the USA, they made this model CX500 with Turbo charge.
I still own the 1982 GL1100 Aspencade that I bought new, so yes! Indeed it was different. The CX500, as I remember its initial introduction to the USA, looked very much like model shown in this video. A few years later (81, I think), Honda released a variant of the CX500 called the GL500 Silver Wing, with an Interstate version using the GL1100's Gold Wing Interstate/Aspencade fairing, saddlebags of a different design, and an optional trunk that replaced the passenger seat. It later grew to become the GL650 Silver WIng,
Note that the CX500 also had a Turbo version, in 1982. The motor on all grew to 650 in 1983.
I was simply following the pattern of the GL series bikes in the USA. The large GL1000/1100 "Gold" Wing, followed by the mid-size GL500/650 "Silver" Wing, with the observation that this GL400 here would probably be dubbed the "Bronze" Wing.
Sorry that you didn't understand the Olympic allusion I was making (as in Gold/Silver/Bronze medals). Hope I've cleared some things up for you. Cheers. and hoping for spring to break here in northern Indiana, USA.
@@tomboyd224 GL400 in Japan has Vtwin not side way, which I do not know what to call, and driveshaft. Therefore I believe GL series in the USA has completely different engine so I do not consider they are the same series.

@@shoonsserendipity I don't understand what you're trying to say. The motorcycle pictured in the video as a "GL400 Wing" does indeed have a sideways V-Twin engine and shaft drive - they're shown in the first 30 seconds or so of the video, along with the "GL400" badge on the engine cases and "Wing" on the side covers. Perhaps Honda released a later version with a different engine configuration, but unless Honda made a mistake in identifying this bike, this is what Honda says a "GL400 Wing" looked like back in 1987.
I think the correct word to describe "sideways" aspect of the engine is "transverse", as this is used in the US motorcycle press for decades to describe the layout of Moto Guzzi engines.

@@tomboyd224 I said "Not side way". Side ways ordinary V twin. It is longitudinally oriented. I am not sure what to call. This name is very confusing because GL400 in Japan is same as CX in USA. GL in USA is completely different.
This GL400 in Japan is very old. They adopted TUBELESS TIRE at first time in the world whereas Tubeless tires are standard these days.

バイク禁止の高校で、秘密裏に免許を取っていたオレみたいなヤツラの良い相談相手だった。

高校の同級が当時乗ってて「おっさん」って馬鹿にされてたｗｗ 渋いチョイスなのにね。
不思議なバイクですよね。時代に退化したOHV。
世界で初めてチューブレスタイヤを採用したというそういう時代のバイクです。
まんまモトグッチの正常進化ですよね～

名古屋−沼津三津−伊豆弓ヶ浜−箱根小涌園−名古屋 三泊四日のツーリングでした。
以前はブサイクの代表みたいに思ってたが、今は渋く格好良く見える。
年取ったせいなのか？
まあ、自分が若いころは既にCX-EUROの時代だったが、OHVツインエンジンを一度味わってみたかったな～
これも懐かしい家庭教師をしてくれた東京医科歯科大の学生が乗っていて…自分のバイクの車検の時とかに私に貸してくれました。久しぶりに見て涙チョチョ切れ…

している動画を見て嬉しくなって、それに引き換え、本国での今の
認知度に悲しくなりました

昔はブサイクの極みと思っていたが、今見ると素晴らしいデザインだと思う。
終のバイクとしてレブル５００を考えているが、これの５００が再販されれば多少無理してでも欲しい。
