    I own three of these sets. Yes, you heard it right-3! I agree with Tom, highly recommended and of similar sensitivity and selectability to the Grundig Satellit 750/Tecsun S-2000 but with that great remote to truly enable armchair listening. Use it with the MLA-30 Magnetic Loop Antenna and you've got yourself a nicely outfitted SWLing powerhouse.

    An important note on this radio -- when the charger is charging the battery internally, it throws off enormous RFI.....better to charge the 18650 separately

      You're 100% correct.

    I have the Grundig version. I had to buy my Dad one because he kept borrowing mine to listen to West Virginia games out of Wheeling.

    Hello Tom, great radio. And it still is a great radio if you put away the remote control. That is the way I use this one, as an analog radio (with DSP).
    Good luck and merry christmas, Arie

    I have a bunch of 18650's I have pulled out of "dead" laptop batteries.
    I like that no mute between stations, hate the chuffing that many have.
    That BNC is nice gives the radio a pro look too. I hope Santa gives me a Tecsun S-8800 for Christmas ;>)

    I do like this Radio much, BUT the Tecsun S200/Grundig Satelit 750 looks much nicer and more valuable, but which one is the BETTER RADIO Ok, PL 8800 is more modern with DSP but is it realy better?

    • @hamrad88
      @hamrad88  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is a hard questions. From my limited experience they are both good receivers and I think it boils down to look and feel. The 8800 is truly portable where the 750 is more of a desk model. Lastly, although I have not tested one, I have read reviews that the S2000 is not as good as the 750. Again, it is a hard choice and I would not say the 8800 is better maybe just even overall.

    S8800 or S2000 ... choices to make .. The latter has airband, and the S8800 has not. So i'd go for the S2000. But .. that one has too wide of a bandwidth.. choices to make ..

    I don't like that radio at all. Thanks for the review Tom. Good to see it and now I know that I don't have any use for it. Plus $258 really? For free It's great. 😎👍📻

      Unfortunately, popular shortwave radios are going through the roof. My 750 which cost $235 when I got it is now over $400.
