I've plateaued at this skill area for so long. I broke my arm about 2 years ago when trying to 180 before learning to properly skate backwards. I can do the open book method now but my general backwards skating skills are pretty poor. I think I'll need to keep practicing till backwards feels more natural! Thanks for the tips!
I can skate like a champ going forward but once I transition to backwards I'm a total newb. I really need to invest some time in this area. Thank You for the tutorial!

Hello Polly, I just bought some lightning 110's and im wondering if you would do some videos of the same exercises for the 3wd skates ? Im 52 and and i haven't bladed in over a decade so i want to get back into it cuz its great exercise and mental stim. 3 wheels not the same as quads for sure but im loving them way more than my old quads. And an fyi to the public, rollerblade brand inline skates had me send my old skates in to them and they gave me a 25% discount on a new pair. It helped a lot.
I'm not sure why but I find the jump turn to be by far the easiest way to go from forward to backward and vice/versa. I find the step transition to be almost impossible. I think I lack the hip flexibility to do it smoothly and end up scrubbing off too much speed when I try it.

I have same! Can't skate backwards.. Can do 180 half pipe but no backwards 🤣

Oh I would say a jump is best at faster speed, all equal safety. Just keep practicing and go at your own pace 🙏🤙
