Nice tips, but I did notice something missing from the Lemon 🍋 Drops segment. And it’s something that I picked up on watching Blade Warriors (the inline skating version of American Gladiators). The show would have segments with skating tips, and one that really stood out for me at the time was this one: Don’t bring your toes together, because they’ll crash, and so will you. I’m not sure what the odds of that happening are while attempting the Lemon Drops, but if you ask me, it’s definitely something to keep in mind.

@@PollySkatesthanks for the helpful videos. Would you recommend inline skating for a 3mile commute from a bus stop to a destination? Or before doing any skating do I need to check first for pebbles, rocks, debris and flat surface? I’m asking because I see a lot of YT videos where people just take off skating without checking the surface they will be on….. thanks!

@@t.terrell7037I walk my routes before I skate on them and check the surface condition. Basically, an on-foot inspection. It’s really helpful, especially for a potential new route or route addition.

I'm also learning how to inline skate and your tips especially when you get off the ground that really helped me stand up without falling down. I actually practiced a bit with standing on one skate to keep my balance with a regular shoe and then switch to the other side that helped tremendously. I was doing the duck walk but I need to have a better location a flat location and with grass. Thank you so much for these tips.

I discovered the reason I can't rollerblade is I have bad valgus knees. This is not the common overpronation beginners get, even when my ankles are straight my knees are faced way too inwards. I added wedge insoles and it helped but it looks like I'll need to adjust the frame. Just thought I'd throw that out there on case someone can't learn the very basics despite hours of practice- you might need insoles, muscle strengthening or have structural problems. All can be fixed some way but it's something to look into if you can't learn the very basics after many times out.

Scooter push is what i do when they first get the skates and are building up the confidence to put on both AT THE SAME TIME after that its straight to lemons or bubbles then duck walking. Please make sure your new skates are for adults or have a weight listed and not those toys with the all plastic frames. And change your brake block the stock ones are plastic and not recommended for any surface. They are not even real they are just a place holder.
Great video polly your energy really translated well 😊

If it’s uphill you are gonna roll backwards and if it’s downhill you are gonna roll out of control. Gurl uphill and downhill are the same depending on which direction you are facing 😅

I never did duck walks, my big feet never really let me do that easily. I do something my friend calls reverse L's, my toes are pointed out slightly but when I push I'm pushing pretty much completely to the side. I am still working on shifting my weight to the toe or heel, which is probably why I can't duck walk well. I have been told that I have the form of a marathon skater so perhaps that's what I am good at but I can't turn aside from A turns and I have awful endurance(mainly from not having a decent rollerblade yet).
