  • Join us on The Farm today as we continue our Horse training on Rusty, the untouched, wild horse that came from the Hopi Reservation. We will do more ground work, desensitization and finally he wil have his first saddle placed on his back - how did he do? Sometimes a horse will buck when they first have a saddle on - what do you think happened? Watch and see!

Love the way you guys gently, but firmly train them. That's how I tried to re-train when I was able to, buy, recondition, and gently retrain. As a self educating procedure for myself. Every horse requires something a bit different, and we can learn something from every horse. Love, love that pick.

Great example of the 2 sides to their brains. Just a little more scared on the right. Blake's a pro.

Hi, Palmer family. Yes, you always must give credit to a great horse and Rusty did awesome today, BUT (and you know it's coming), we also must appreciate the awesomeness of Blake and his knowledge, patience, and perseverance with the animal. Can you tell I have a special place in my heart for this young man? I love it when the horse turns on him and that's a no, no, so Blake bends his knees and gets after him immediately and makes that growling (don't know what else to call it) noise to let the horse know that behavior won't be tolerated. That was so nice of the subscriber to send you that awesome tool. As always, take good care on the farm and stay well. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

What a level headed lil half man. It'll take 6 months for all the testosterone to leave his system, so this is very nice. He knew he had something on his back and after a lil bit wanted to see if he could get it off and when he realized it's staying he was like ok then. The first time I saddled my QH, I was on him. Never bucked. This guy gonna be a real nice all around horse.

That’s awesome, when they get castrated like that, that’s the best time to break them and during the cold days ... we broke a lot of horses and trained a few for the late gene quimby,.. the wild ones are the easiest to work with ... but awesome tho like to see young guys working with horses .. good video 👍🏼

I believe in starting them young (18-24 months) but Rusty looks like a yearling. Not that there is anything wrong with that. I am just curious because we have 8 yearlings that we are going to halter break and sell. But we may keep 2 of them that are already halter broke. So I was going to see if it’s to soon to saddle break them.

Doesn't give a very good expression. Maybe that's how you ranchers are in you area. Blake is a awesome young man. I can tell you have a great relationship with him. Keep up the great work and be safe.

Glad y'all like the pick. Pressure and release, work both sides is the key to training. Try roping Rusty and roping his feet I think you will find it really helps. If you need just put the rope on him and do the "pressure and release" www.mullerslanefarm.com/index.html
    Ropin front feet: th-cam.com/video/mTmdJD6Fgxs/w-d-xo.html
