The 6 members they introduced are the official members. Manon, Lara, Sophia, Yoonchae, Megan, and Daniela are KATSEYE now. They had a survival show-like competition called The Debut: Dream Academy last year from September to November which was a whole process through episodes that HYBE released on their channel. It was a very strenuous process and the show dealt with 20 contestants bottling down to the final 6. So it went from 120K auditions - 20 contestants - 6 final members in that order. They had like 3 missions including one FINAL mission that was part of the live finale which helped determine the final members and a lot of it was based on performance, vocals, and viewers’ participation in LIVE VOTING. So the final 6 girls you see here were chosen based on high rankings for all of those things including the judges’ rankings and opinions.
Now, you mentioned Emily and everyone watching Emily knew that she was a powerhouse dancer like one of the best there. Unfortunately, she wasn’t vocally ranged enough and so that kind of left to strong uncertainty. Also she didn’t have a strong fan/support base which a lot of the girls either came in already having and/or having to build one which was definitely tough. Emily was good though but she did make it to the very final round but just didn’t make the cut.
Also, you mentioned that you’d like to see White representation more in kpop which is something that rubbed me a little. A lot of us minority stans feel the opposite respectfully and I will explain why. Firstly, there’s already a HANDFUL of WHITE/mixed idols in kpop and even some who are specially European White. Also, no shade but newsflash White people are everywhere in every media, medium, and form. You guys should look into the Social Dominance Thoery… some real mind matter right there.
The purpose of KATSEYE was to bring in a more unseen diverse and cultural perspective from OTHER povs and standpoints of the world which is why a lot of people gravitated to the group’s purpose because many minorities found that many of the contestants looked like THEM and were from countries that are easily misrepresented and shadowed under in the media. That’s why one of the members, Lara made it so clear that she was fighting for her brown people and brown girls mainly because more brown people representation is NEEDED and it’s true. So, I get wanting to see more of your own’s rep in an Asian dominated field but that is the point for us …imagine how we feel o the average daily. Idk, in a way it came off kind of eh because we can’t act like white people are not already at the focus/FOREFRONT of SO many things. This global group experiment was DIFFERENT and so the audience was different and loud about it . Even Manon and Lara being there the FIRST EVER BLACK and BROWN kpop idols in HYBE and one of the very few in kpop is big… even though KATSEYE are not even a kpop group but managed under a kpop company. And not even just that but more than half of the members in KATSEYE represent more than one nationality and /or ethnicity so that really left a lot more of us in awe. So that’s a pretty big statement for a lot of us who can relate. We wouldn’t have wanted these members any other way if it wasn’t THEM.
Also, for a list of some white idols in kpop just in case yall were not fully aware of. And please remember being White is a race too:
Lily from NMIXX - (Australian) White/Korean
Bahiyyih from Kep1er and her brother Heuning Kai from TXT (Several White European countries) White/Korean
    Danielle from NewJeans (Australian) White/Korean
    Jeon Somi (Canadian-Dutch) White/Korean
    Nancy from Momoland (American) White/Korean
    Vernon from SEVENTEEN (White-Korean)
KG from JYP’S VCHA (another new girl group managed by a kpop company) is White American
There are a few more but you get the message there. Generally, it is more common for white idols to debut outside of the Asian race/ethnicity in kpop than it is for other groups of people and it has been slowly changing but even still there are many talks against it as well. KATSEYE are debuting w their first single on June 28th, yall should check them out if yall want.

Katseye is actually debuting with a single June 28th if you want to react to that. Before that they’re dropping a trailer this Monday (6/17) at 8am PT on their YT channel (@Katseyeworld) and then an intro film the next day (6/18) at 8pm PT.
If you want to learn more about them Katsville has a great video on here called “Guide to KATSEYE (Who is Katseye?)” that’ll help you see how talented these girls are.
They’re also dropping a 2nd single in July and then an EP in august.

emily, the blonde girl, was actually amazing through out the competition especially in dance department that's why she was one of the finalist. However, the competition was too tough cause all the finalists were all so talented and did so so good! too bad for emily the girls that made it are really the ones that deserves the spot more than her.

The westerner take is very interesting and i think it’s more higher ups that are so individualistic now as opposed to the whole west. Especially when you think about that fact that kpop got their whole system for teams and what not from America back in the Motown days. We sure to be the more group oriented people

they’re all such good members too. this is one of the only times in a survival show competition where I’m 100% satisfied with the lineup. such talented members! of course even those who didnt make the cut were also talented, which made me quite sad to see them go.

the blonde girls name is Emily and she made it to the finals, she is an excellent dancer maybe even the best out of the batch. she didn't have strong vocals and there was a fan voting section where she didn't have a strong fan base support. I recommend the dream academy videos on YT

Emily was a finalist, she was the main dancer of the whole show tbh but her vocals couldn’t cut it. Also her vibe didn’t fit the overall group with the rest of the members. Her and the other 3 girls eliminated were all so talented I’m sure we’ll see them all very soon
