Hearing this is super delightful. In my honest opinion, building a separate extension of the red line (phase II) would be ideal on the long run regardless of the cost. Specific locations like Ebutte Ero, Iddo, Idumota, Leventis will be open to rail traffic.
Otherwise, the first option is actually a smart option but limited train stations which will eventually inhibit passengers from benefiting the LRMT services.
Kudos to the MD of LAMATA, Engr Mrs. Abimbola Akinajo and the entire team. Thanks to Channels crew for making your platform available.
    It only gets better…

The Red line needs to go straight to Marina Station. A one seat ride from Agbado or the International airport to Marina is worth the wait. You have to think of the convenience and safety factors for travelers with luggages also.
If there are 100,000 workers going into Lagos Island , on the Red line, in the morning, can the National theater station handle that bottleneck in addition to the blue lines regular passengers? Was the National theater station designed to handle that volume from the beginning?
Also a central business district like Lagos Island needs more than one line coming into it in the event of an emergency or the shutting down of the blue line.
These are just some things to consider before making such a drastic change to an initially well thought out network.

I can see the benefit of having a valid redundacy and agree with the main thrust of your argument which i had not considered too. However, cost in todays Nigeria is a big driver, it also has the benefit of connecting to the blue line cheaply. Both 2 options are valid with strong points but i think LAMATA need to pause and think it through. There could be a third option. They could create a new line call it whatever colour😂, have it maybe start at Oyingbo or Iddo and connect to the red line. This new line can then transverse to key places like surulere and national stadium and it can then connect to national theatre station with proposal for extension on this new line further a field. That way you will have connected to the blue line quickly getting people to marina. It has the benefits of establishing two connections to 2 lines. Also the original option 1 can be done at a later time when lagos has money😊 ( i agree lagos CBD should have 2 lines coming from mainland to island, having one is too risky). There are no easy solutions but there are other options than these 2 i think

The changes will work if the train travels from the red line to Marina via the blue line without passengers having to transfer to another train. I was not clear on that earlier
Redundancies make it work better for Lagosians.

I thought the same too, that why build a separate rail track from Oyingbo down through marina when they could just easily connect it with the national theatre since it's the same destinations both are heading thereby saving scarce resources and quick wins for Sanwoolu

Kwara state is still waiting for a "governor" in over two decades. May we not be cursed with governors that squander insecurity budget on PRIVATE JET and let's not forget the family that saw the state as an inheritance from Allah.

17thousand watched the video and less than 40 commented. You need to see how people praise governors that have projects on "drawing board" in some parts of Nigeria with no negative comments from non-infigenes of that region but when it comes to Lagos, the envy is on another level.

Lagos is a capital city of Nigerians for decades and was built by the federal government of Nigeria. Mention any other vibrant state in Yoruba land apart from Lagos. Yorubas are still the poorest people in Lagos.
