    It's crazy to think that this song has a very complex composition but sounds very neat. One of the Dream Theater songs that I like the most. Thank you for reacting to this song. Eargasm! 🔥

    The first time I heard the part at 6:42 to 7:10 onward completely changed my understanding of rhythm. If you didnt notice, the guitar riff doesnt change at all but the drums get faster when LaBrie sings "run, fast . . ." brilliant composition

    The Glass Prison is part of Mike Portnoy's 12 Steps suite,
    The lyrics to each song, written by the band’s then-drummer Mike Portnoy,
    deal with his experience of alcoholism.
    Each song represents a certain number of the Twelve Steps.
    1. "The Glass Prison"
    I. “Reflection” (0:56 - 06:12)
    II. “Restoration” (06:12 - 10:30)
    III. "Revelation" (10:30 - End)
    2. "This Dying Soul"
    [Reflections of Reality (Revisited), Release]
    3. "The Root of All Evil" (Ready, Remove)
    4. "Repentance" (Regret, Restitution)
    5. "The Shattered Fortress (Restraint, Receive, Responsible)
    I suggest you to hear those songs xD
    I also recommend you;
    Wither (John Petrucci Vocals Demo highly recommended, or original version)
    The Best of Times (Mike Portnoy Vocals Demo highly recommended)
    The Mirror and Lie (Live Breaking 4th Wall)

    Please react to The Mirror + Lie (in one single reaction). Off of the Awake album, this Portnoy-penned lyric also deals with his abuse of alcohol, and thus is sort of related to the 12-step suite. It's also heavy as fuck!

    This song is Dream Theater's walk of fame. They JUST came off Scenes From a Memory. A success both critically and commercially. They LITERALLY just saved their band from breaking up because of that. So they were pretty hyped and it's ON FULL DISPLAY here.
    The performances. Everyone is at the top of their game and HYPED AF. This thing is conceptual to the bone and kicked off a really interesting experiment on their own discography for quite some time (def striking while the iron is hot coming off Scenes). The mix is 9.8/10 (some of the backing vocal choices were kinda questionable both performance wise in Portnoy's corner and mix wise but besides that this thing sounds crystal and it BLASTS!!!
    They sound proud. This is peak DT dont even @ me bro

    It's sad, but these guys "run off" a lot of would-be fans just because of the complexity of the songs and how technically sound they are on their instruments. I love the stuff they put out. I put em on par with Rush, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Yes, and others of that ilk who stated that playing "tight," and bettering themselves at their craft is important to them...thus, we fans benefited from it. All these new musicians (and I use that term lightly) could learn a hell of a lot from these bands and those that came before. I'd love to hear a guitar, bass, or drum solo in a song now and then. New "music" is completely devoid of such things. The "talent" is there...but artists don't seem interested in bettering themselves at their craft.

    • @colinme2672
      @colinme2672 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed. I've seen them all over the years. Rush so many times I lost count. Until DT Yes were the greatest instrumentalists ever. Howe and Squires were astonishing. No Rush without Yes. No DT without Yes and Rush. DT are on a different planet in skill levels.

    I watched a lot of these reactioners, but i don't understand who they are, why they should be followed, which competences do they have in general? Please answer i sense i'm starting to think i'm wasting my time watching a random jobless neighbour doing nothing.

    • @JohnG_YT
      @JohnG_YT  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You don't understand,but you like to assume things : Like that i'm jobless,while i actually have a regular job. I'm just a guy who enjoys music and shares it with others. And i love creating stuff for TH-cam. If this by your standarts means "Doing nothing" (because, obviously, all of this records and edits itself.) ,then i would rather do that,than assuming things about people i know nothing about ;).

    • @ziochristmas
      @ziochristmas 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JohnG_YT so in the end of the answer the only thing i can get is that you have no competence about what you are judging, that you share copyrighted music with others patching your face on it to circumnavigate royalties and get yours, just because you are "reacting". That should be the theme, right? And also that your effort in all of this is you creating a video about it. Like this can be an effort anyways like mining or maybe "a real job". In my country everything that involves money is a job, don't know in yours.
      This is absolutely brilliant, but still i don't get the part in which you explain your competences about music in general. And why somebody should follow.
