Edwardian blouse: How to make it

  • I am very happy to show you this video about creating an Edwardian blouse! It is step by step tutorial and I will be the happiest person on Earth if you find it helpful :) I had no idea how many hours it will take me to make it, because making a tutorial is rather complicated - you can't think only about the sewing process, but also about how to show it so everyone can understand you. At the same time I am feeling super excited that I finally did it.
    Please, let me know is everything clear for you? Do you want me to make another videos like that? I am open to all suggestions and will do my best to show you more information about the sewing process. You can see more videos at my Instagram account.

    Finally... someone explained WHY ironing is important... to "create a shape" thank you very much! I have always wondered WHY.

    • @catzkeet4860
      @catzkeet4860 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Well,it’s not JUST that, tho it’s one good reason. There are a lot of reasons for ironing while constructing a garment. It keeps the pieces flat and true so that you don’t end up with weird overhangs when trying to line up pieces. It makes sure that the fabric lies flat and smooth so that you don’t get puckers in straight seams. It reduces bulk on seam lines, and pressing seams allows you to trim allowances more accurately. It also allows you to control where bulk in the seams will fall as you can press a seam open and flat or closed and directed one way or the other. So, lots of reasons

    I learned so much watching you sew this blouse! Such as how to finish raw edges with bias tape, how to finish a sleeve slit/cut (I did it wrong recently on a shirt), and how to iron to shape pieces. Wonderful video 👏

      I think many blouse patterns would work just cut the front on a fold. You're using lace to replace top sections of the bodice pieces. Buttons are on the lace.
      Simplicity do have a couple of different sleeve patterns.
