Glenn deserves mad respect just for getting with the hottest woman in the show (Maggie) alone, not to mention all the brave things he did for almost everybody in the group throughout the seasons. All the times he saved lives and did useful things that advanced the story. One of TWD's best characters, hands down.

I think the reason he lost his humor was probably because he finally saw the world for what it was now, and there was no changing it. And I think it had to do with something when he met Maggie. If you read the comics, Glenn stated to Rick the reason he did all the supply runs in the city was because he didn't care whether he died or not. But now that he met Maggie, things became more dangerous for him because he now had someone to protect. And that's when he became more serious. He couldn't be that free-spirited, single-minded, humorous kid anymore. He had to take new risks to keep Maggie and the rest of his group safe. And I don't blame him. But I agree with you though. I miss the old Glenn and his humor. He'll always be my favorite character, whether he's dead or not.
don't forget Glenn never killed anyone until season 6 but i think around the time of nick being an asshole and or him trying to find maggie at terminus is when he lost his humor he got more serious
Even though most of us saw it coming. It was still emotionally painful to watch. I love how they ripped it right from the comics too. Even though this is terrible, its still the best episode on the Walking Dead
I really hope that they stick with the comics in terms of Negan. Negan has a big role to play beyond the caricature of villain. In the comics, he has a part in taking on other villains as well. He's just too good of a character to die early on just because it's what the audience wants. Negan doesn't fear death. He wouldn't care if he died. Living in captivity (like he does in the comics) with no power is a nightmare for him. That's the best kind of torture that you can give a man like Negan.
Negan has a god-complex. He was offended that Carl still wanted to kill him even after all of the conversations they had. He believed that he could persuade Carl otherwise, and he's more offended by the fact that Carl would still want to kill him after 'everything they've been through'. He's narcissistic. I never said he becomes 'a good guy'. I meant that he is forced out of the role of villain and becomes his own version of a good guy. Negan's definition of good isn't the same as ours. I'd imagine that Negan would be offended that Carl doesn't like him, considering that Negan likes Carl. He doesn't know what it's like to not be in control and he's figuring out that he doesn't really hold the reins anymore. Even then, y'know. The same could be said for Negan towards Carl. Carl (and the others) did kill Negan's men first. We'd see Negan as the good guy if TWD had been told from his point of view.
But why did Negan kill Alpha and align with Rick? Is it a ploy? Or is he legitimately an asset to Rick now? I don't know, but I just don't think Rick can control Negan.
Yeah that was the goal I think, and it worked for the most part. Granted I knew it was coming via the spoilers (as did many others), but even so, it was still hard to watch.
His death was the most heartbreaking in the series for sure, he was the most innocent out of all the characters and the fact he was hoping to be a father and never got to was tragic

Agreed, he kind of lost his humor side in the last couple seasons, which sucks. I think that might be because Abraham showed up and kind of took over that comedic relief role in the show. Wonder who's going to take it over now, guess we still have Eugene? lol

I think the reason he lost his humor was probably because he finally saw the world for what it was now, and there was no changing it. And I think it had to do with something when he met Maggie. If you read the comics, Glenn stated to Rick the reason he did all the supply runs in the city was because he didn't care whether he died or not. But now that he met Maggie, things became more dangerous for him because he now had someone to protect. And that's when he became more serious. He couldn't be that free-spirited, single-minded, humorous kid anymore. He had to take new risks to keep Maggie and the rest of his group safe. And I don't blame him. But I agree with you though. I miss the old Glenn and his humor. He'll always be my favorite character, whether he's dead or not.
don't forget Glenn never killed anyone until season 6 but i think around the time of nick being an asshole and or him trying to find maggie at terminus is when he lost his humor he got more serious

I really hope that they stick with the comics in terms of Negan. Negan has a big role to play beyond the caricature of villain. In the comics, he has a part in taking on other villains as well. He's just too good of a character to die early on just because it's what the audience wants. Negan doesn't fear death. He wouldn't care if he died. Living in captivity (like he does in the comics) with no power is a nightmare for him. That's the best kind of torture that you can give a man like Negan.
Negan has a god-complex. He was offended that Carl still wanted to kill him even after all of the conversations they had. He believed that he could persuade Carl otherwise, and he's more offended by the fact that Carl would still want to kill him after 'everything they've been through'. He's narcissistic. I never said he becomes 'a good guy'. I meant that he is forced out of the role of villain and becomes his own version of a good guy. Negan's definition of good isn't the same as ours.
I'd imagine that Negan would be offended that Carl doesn't like him, considering that Negan likes Carl. He doesn't know what it's like to not be in control and he's figuring out that he doesn't really hold the reins anymore.
Even then, y'know. The same could be said for Negan towards Carl. Carl (and the others) did kill Negan's men first. We'd see Negan as the good guy if TWD had been told from his point of view.
But why did Negan kill Alpha and align with Rick? Is it a ploy? Or is he legitimately an asset to Rick now? I don't know, but I just don't think Rick can control Negan.
From "it was a one time thing" to "I'll never love someone else as I loved Glenn" that's a major character development for Maggie ❤😢
