Try out the world is dying and the world is dead add on, bullets are extremely scarce and cost a buttload. Like over 100 caps for a single 10mm round. If you mix it with a realistic ballistics mod that makes enemies actually use their ammo it makes you have to be really picky about what to shoot or what to stab.
When it comes to horror mods, I like role playing as an Inquisitor from the Ordo Malleus, wearing priest clothing with a holy Bible mod that provides buffs and abilities, I like to also increase the spawn rate of children of atom enemies and branding them heretics as demon worshippers. But it's really your choice going forward. Just be careful with conflicts and compatibility and such.
I just completed the Children of Uq-Qualtoth quest with my hunter based rifleman character and let me tell you some advice from experience: get as much radaway as you can have on your character and if you're doing a melee build, bring a ranged weapon with you because you're gonna need all the ammo you can carry. Quest felt like something out of Silent Hill considering how dark it was and you had to be careful when you decided to go off the beaten path but it was a amazing horror quest overall. My only complaint was the quest design felt like it wanted to originally be based on using melee weapons but it was executed very well overall
Feral Ghouls Want Chocolate is just funny. D.E.C.A.Y. is a good one to retexture Feral Ghouls into more of a zombie like creature, that with Zombie Walkers makes a visually interesting Zombie Apocalypse.
Oddly the creepiest moment playing Fallout 4 was with the Expanded Settlers mod. It made my settlers spawn atop skyscrapers and given the NPC wiring, they would literally walk off the buildings to their death. Funny at first but looking back it was kinda depressing as it seemed like they were committing suicide.
Feral Nights is pretty neat looking. One of the reasons I've never really used any weather mod besides True Storms is because of how much I love the rad storm ghoul mechanic in that mod.
The Silent Hills mod with Halo weapons and Infinite Armory is actually a pretty decent combo. Like a 3-way crossover between each franchise. It’s so fun.
To the people who think zombies would be not lore-friendly, do I have to remind you that we have a virus in the game that literally turns people into long, green, cannibalistic monstrosities?
The thing with the mannequins is that they're meant to passively unnerve you; not serve as the payoff to a scare. Which is why the scary faces on them don't work. A proper scary mannequins mod would just add very subtle coloration and shape around the eyes and mouth that almost look like a real person's face with the mouth and eyes covered by latex.
Honestly the chocolate mod is genuinely terror inducing. It’s one thing to hear “BLEGH” and get attacked, but it’s another to see a Glowing one resurrect their kind while belching CHOCOLATE at the top of their decaying lungs.
Kinda surprised that there wasn't a Misty Pines Overhaul like mod in this list, something that add a level of fog to the rest of the world without adding like Silent Hill. I can't tell you the number of times been running through the common wealth to get scared by something popping out of the mist and trees I didn't see in time. Would of been a great add to builds that don't want the Silent Hill stuff.
I've used just about all these mods but there was one mod in particular I used when I turned Fallout 4 into a zombie apocalypse was Feral Ghoul Reanimated, it overhauls their animations but also reanimated the dead bodies so dead bodies over time would become feral ghouls and it really became horrific.
What shotgun/weapons mod are you using at 23:15 in particular but also in general (including the flashlight which looks sick) throughout this presentation? Cheers in advance!
If u add the first half of the mods take or leave some and combine it with tons of other stuff you have one of the coolest fallout experiences ever everything feels dangerous but you still feel powerful
One thing to note with Polluted Environment I found out, it's not compatible with Darker Nights apparently and requires both Far Harbor DLC and Nuka World which was a letdown for me
Thanks so much for this! I've played this game so many times, usually heavily modded, but usually my mods are more about character/companion appearances and clothes and settlement stuff. Now I know that I can have more than one modded profile I can finally play a game where the mods are more about the actual playthru. I have yet to try a survival-type oriented game. This set-up looks perfect for freshening up the game for me. I'm currently finally trying Sim Settlements. I'm just at the beginning of that. I don't think I want to combine SS2 with this type of set-up unless someone recommends otherwise with compelling reasons. ETA: But no way I want to give up the Sole Survivor's Military Record. I love that mod. I have to look better into how to make it less powerful though. Just enough so I'm not grinding at the beginning just for certain useful perks.
Another fun factor is the high change when gravy send to check in on another settlement it’s been taking over by new monsters or having one settler left you can try to help. That make settlement saving hunting more fun.
A late game ghoul mod I have in my load order is Darkness of Commonwealth, adds powered armor ghouls and conjoined twin ghouls. Both are reallyyy strong and only spawn after level 90 I beileve. Havent seen them spawn normally but they will add enemies for the late game
Hmm played pollutted climate and senescense but I swear is more scary to use NAC legacy with PRC ENB and ultra interior lightning with a calibrated monitor/tv... and setting darker night (not the mod, is included in the NAC config). Going inside buildings or around at night is more spooky. Also sinister sounds lose the "scare effect"after some hours and become a bit monotone and repetittive.
We need more mods that add an enemy that can't be killed but is always tracking you. Like Mr.X in RE2 Remake or Imposter Nora from the Marked for Termination mod.
One of the things I've always wanted is a good backpack and visible weapon mod. A high res backpack with straps that shows stored weapons, a decent, non-static pistol holster, a sheathed knife or machete. Would be cool and add to the survival feel.
actually there is already those mods. Visible weapons and install some cod or Eft accesories mods and then there is knife, machete and different guns to wear in your back! there is lot of cool new mods the mod community is grazy right now!
Get the Ellie's Armour Compendium mod. You can craft backpacks at the workstation. You can also get the K9 Harness mod that allows you to craft a body armor backpack for Dogmeat.
Grim ENB Lite or original mixed with Darker Nights, Misty Pines and Not Another Silent Hill Weather Mod are my choices. Also, changed the background music to creepy soundtracks from other games.
@@Themistocles30 I have a full load order of them. The problem is that Desperado Overhaul is completely incompatible with Boston FPS Fix, meaning horrible Boston FPS. Really puts me off from playing it. If I want bad FPS I'll play New Vegas instead
What I never got with this game is how do ghouls do damage whilst donning power armour ? I mean they are just rotting bags of flesh, i get being hit with objects, bullets & so on but you shouldn't receive damage from rotting flesh & bone, And why would you look at your pip boy mid battle? Some good mode here if your into zombies
My preference for bullet time mods is the "Vault-Tec Assisted Focus System" or "VAFS" as it reworks all of the VATS perks to have uses _within_ bullet-time, including things like the mysterious stranger for example, and while you definitely can just choose not to use it, it does also allow you to use crits outside of VATS. VATS itself isn't _replaced_ by this mod, but it is made less interesting, which I find that this alone makes me not use VATS much anymore. The only thing I can say it doesn't do that this combination you've show does, is the automatic usage of it. You do have to either favourite and aid item or bind a hotkey with the MCM, so if that's a big reason than I can understand that.
Some great mods on here. I'm particularly fond of the audio mods, as I rely on audio a lot when I play. One point I've noticed before, though -- the "D. Apocalypse" mod. It feels less immersive to me than the default experience does. I feel like it would apply more if FO4 were set a few decades after the apocalypse. Centuries later, and I think loot would be more disseminated. Why would hospitals still be hot spots for medical loot? Nobody's using them as hospitals, nor have they for hundreds of years. They've been fortified strongholds and bandit hideouts. Finding stims and such in cabinets and safes makes more sense to me. People have stashed and hoarded them, then been killed, and left their supplies and caches behind. Could you recommend a mod which simply reduces the overall frequency of valuable loot, without rebalancing the distribution?
Zombie Walkers mod can get crazy at times, I love it. I love just blasting them away, but it CAN get dicey when they pile up (even as shamblers), especially around settlements or cramped alleyways. Might be nice to add flashlight mods on this. I use Pip-Boy Flashlight. It has an option to allow casting of dynamic shadows, as well as an option to offset the flashlight so you can appreciate those shadows more in FPV mode. :D
Sleepless Nights is another good one for scariness. I often thought it was kinda odd that you could sleep sometimes in the middle of nowwhere with enemies running around everywhere.
I've been playing grim the course + whispering hills together, as a spartan lol, I love it but its chaotic AF, but now I have more to add to it, thanks juice
It's not really a horror mod, but that Remington Model 11 Shotgun by Lkilgore is so choice for skulking around in the dark. It feels like something you want by your side when the ghoulies come callin
I appreciate the selection of the Children mod. It's one of my favorite horror mods for FO4 and easily one of the most fun aside from the Silent Hill one.
Polluted Climate w/ interior lighting, Senescence, True Grass, and The Aspen Commonwealth all together make the game look wayyyy better and truer to how it should have looked in my opinion, and without much of a performance hit for modern rigs. From there you just need a few graphical and ini tweaks, water textures, and any other textures you want and the game can look very high quality.
I’d like to see a mod that makes the buildings, landscape, materials in the Wasteland more diverse. The issue I’ve always had with Fallout 4 is everything looks so similar when walking around. I know Bethesda reused assets allot in the game, but hopefully a modder can improve that.
I didn't know mannequins could be scary until I played Silent Hill 2 back in the day. I also didn't know they bleed real blood. But according to Silent Hill they do.
I really want to enjoy Whispering HIlls, but the fog becomes too much after awhile. One would think an option to turn it down substantially or get rid of it altogether would be a no brainer. It wouldn't lessen the fear factor in the least IMO. , especially with the Grim ENB. Additionally, it replaces many of the humanoid enemies, and the ones it doesn't don't aggro the Silent Hill monsters. They seem to completely ignore them and other non human enemies and attack only you, which sucks. Would have been cool seeing a group of Brotherhood members, or raiders fighting off demonic horrors, or a Death Claw going up against Sirenhead.
if you want a good mod combo for Xbox or pc combine M's Abominations, Mutant Menagerie, your preferred Lighting/weather/ENB (I use true storms with Ambience and reverb overhaul)and go for it
If you're downloading GRIM The Curse, I wouldn't recommend doing the quest (= don't activate the curse). Not because it's bad or anything but it's unfinished and no longer supported. You will notice some parts that still need polishing and the unfinished aspect of the quest will affect the mood. If you want something supported, use Whispering Hills. It's still actively updated.
@@guilhermehank4938 Not 100% sure but I heard there has been some unfortunate argument between the two mod authors. I'm pretty sure one of Juice's video explained that. Need verification. NVM it was Pilgrim not Grim.

It’s one thing to hear “BLEGH” and get attacked, but it’s another to see a Glowing one resurrect their kind while belching CHOCOLATE at the top of their decaying lungs.
i personaly prefer to use MAIM2 as well as Hardcore health overhaul, definitely makes taking damage pretty cool
One thing to note with Polluted Environment I found out, it's not compatible with Darker Nights apparently and requires both Far Harbor DLC and Nuka World which was a letdown for me
Great intro, it felt really fresh and different than your typical videos and writing
Would be cool to have a blind randomizer of horror mods so you never know the combination of mods that have been applied
Legit just resident evil and killing floor combined
The weather mods make the Fallout look 100 years younger
Turning Fallout 4 into a survival horror game for Halloween sounds like a great time.
This is the exactly type of mods i love... Great list
:)
Love this long list format! Keep it coming
13:30 he says with over 500 bullets 😂
Grim ENB Lite or original mixed with Darker Nights, Misty Pines and Not Another Silent Hill Weather Mod are my choices. Also, changed the background music to creepy soundtracks from other games.
I want to turn Fallout 4 into Fallout New Vegas, not into Left for Dead 2 :)
I want a junkmaster load order guide
you mean Fallout 4: New Vegas?
Yes… yes.. Yes. do it
There is a couple of mods on nexus that can turn fallout 4 into New Vegas.
I mean they are just rotting bags of flesh, i get being hit with objects, bullets & so on but you shouldn't receive damage from rotting flesh & bone,
And why would you look at your pip boy mid battle?
I’ve been playing fallout 4 VR survival mode and that is a terrifying experience as is. But it’s some of the most fun I’ve ever had.
It’s incredibly rewarding and the game makes you really feel like you earn everything as you become a seasoned chad in the commonwealth.
I think the same way. FROST gives that survival experience but has a number of issues that make it annoying.
I LOVE that the Sirenhead has an announcement meant for the Commonwealth. That's so immersive and amazing! And so is this video :3
I often thought it was kinda odd that you could sleep sometimes in the middle of nowwhere with enemies running around everywhere.
anyone know what pistol mod he is using at 3:27?
I've been playing grim the course + whispering hills together, as a spartan lol, I love it but its chaotic AF, but now I have more to add to it, thanks juice
the spartan mod.... i have so much to get working lol
@@TheNecromorphkiller it's the halo mjolnir mark v mod, plus SPI mod, and halo 3 odst armor mod, not to forget the misriah armory mod
I did something similar but I was a space marine instead of a spartan
That siren head jumpscare got me
It's not really a horror mod, but that Remington Model 11 Shotgun by Lkilgore is so choice for skulking around in the dark. It feels like something you want by your side when the ghoulies come callin
I appreciate the selection of the Children mod. It's one of my favorite horror mods for FO4 and easily one of the most fun aside from the Silent Hill one.
I can’t believe the amount of work you put on this video! Truly remarkable!
"Sinister ambient sound" pretty much describes the background music of Fallout 1 and 2 xD
So keen to try some of these in VR. Tried Whispering Hills ep 1 in VR and it was awesome.
27:32 did you really have to do that.
Sirenhead sprinting forward got me real good
I didn't know mannequins could be scary until I played Silent Hill 2 back in the day. I also didn't know they bleed real blood. But according to Silent Hill they do.
6:20 we need this mod in fallout 4! It will protect us in Glowing Sea!
Imagine if in the next Fallout game there's a Ghoul Horde mechanic like the Freaker Hordes in Days Gone, that would be cool
if you want a good mod combo for Xbox or pc combine M's Abominations, Mutant Menagerie, your preferred Lighting/weather/ENB (I use true storms with Ambience and reverb overhaul)and go for it
Thanks JuiceHead, this gave me an idea to a new load order!
@JuiceHead Hi, what's the name of the mods/ game seen in the intro? the one with the roots and stuff in a hallway at the start 0:00
Thanks so much! Fallout 4 at this point lives and breathes from modding. It just makes the game so engaging over and over again.
Complaint of the commonwealth (COTC) is alwayd my go to scary/difficult music overhaul that doesnt have the recognition it deserves imo
Existence 2.0 has been in my load order ages. Surprised to even hear it mentioned.
Probably an FAQ but what weapon mod(s) are you using in this footage? Is it Combined Arms NV?
My favorite "scary" mod is the one that turns the Museum of Witchcraft Into a halloween party complete with a taxidermied deathclaw after you clear it
If you're downloading GRIM The Curse, I wouldn't recommend doing the quest (= don't activate the curse). Not because it's bad or anything but it's unfinished and no longer supported. You will notice some parts that still need polishing and the unfinished aspect of the quest will affect the mood.
If you want something supported, use Whispering Hills. It's still actively updated.
Man, why they do that?
@@guilhermehank4938 Not 100% sure but I heard there has been some unfortunate argument between the two mod authors. I'm pretty sure one of Juice's video explained that. Need verification.
NVM it was Pilgrim not Grim.
@@aramireu ohhh alright
I find it funny anytime someone talks about an audio mod, they never give it a few moments so we can fully hear the sounds lol. No offense Juice, just wanted to hear them properly and see what it sounds like
Mods don't invoke copyright
@@CorvusSolitario that’s not always true
26:04 your hands did a fusion dance.
Could you compile a list of the best options for vanilla-friendly Fallout 4 mods, yet?
Great video. If I ever am able to get another PC, I'll download all of these
Hope you got that pc!
Me: Hmm, maybe I should play Fallout 4 again…
My Backlog: Am I a joke to you?
Feral nights + Fall Evil sounds epic
8:55 Oh hey, that one's from Rain World! The modder knows their stuff...
Thank you for the great suggestions I'm making my game a real spooky challenge that or a High paced Zombie shooter ether way cheers mate have a good one
