HAY means THERE IS, THERE ARE, IS THERE AND ARE THERE in Spanish.
HAY can be used for a few different things in Spanish.
Existence of objects:
Hay un libro en la mesa
There is a book on the table
Hay muchos libros en la biblioteca
There are many books in the library
Counting:
Hay cinco personas en la habitación
There are five people in the room
Location and direction:
¿Hay un banco cerca de aquí?
Is there a bank nearby?
Impersonal expressions:
Hay que estudiar mucho para aprender español
One must study a lot to learn Spanish
In Spanish, "hay" is the third person singular form of the verb "haber," which means "to have" in the sense of existence or possession.
"Hay" is commonly used to indicate the existence of something or to express the idea of "there is" or "there are" in English.
And NO HAY is used to say the quantity of something is zero.
No hay dinero
