      I think speaking as someone who lives in Europe and can't realistically hunt here, hunting is a very strange concept. The idea of hunting shouldn't be strange though and getting through that barrier of "This is weird..but it's not weird it's natural" is the main part of it. To my mind going out and hunting is more ethical than grabbing a slab of beef at the supermarket, but it's just stumbling over that initial mental hurdle that's so hard for so many I think.

      I appreciate your honesty. Us hunters have learned that there are MANY, who's perceptions of guns, gun owners and hunters change as they learn the truth about most of us and let go of their original misconceptions. I enjoy exposing people to new thoughts and ideas about all of these things and sharing the newly found joy they get (eventually at some point) when engaging these activities themselves.

    • @TheDancerMacabre
      @TheDancerMacabre 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@heatto162 there are very huge differences.
      I'm a vet and crappy hunter. I understand the lethality it has and must be treated with a lot more respect then a hammer.
      Thing is, a lot of the gun nuts treat them as toys. Something you buy accessories for and flaunt around because they want to compensate for something.
      You have people like Steve here, keeps his gear locked up, transports it properly, and sees it as a tool to hunt. And dumbasses who drink too much and shoot cans to impress their friends

I love that it's not about trophies it's about food and respect for that food for these guys. Hunting needs more ambassadors like Steve and Cody. When Cody was feeling the feels after the harvest I totally related to that, it's taking a life and there is a responsibility that comes with that. When I saw every part of that animal strapped to his pack I wanted to stand up and cheer.

The fact that you can use one animal and prepare it so many different ways and learn peoples recipes and traditions and experience all those things with them is great. Really beats sliced lunch meat from the grocery store. If people really love animals they should appreciate people that refrain from relying on factory farming for every single meal. This is the way it was for 100,000 of years and its always worked.

    I stopped hunting for about 8 years. I finally got back into it this past season 2020. Found myself kneeling down and thinking all 3 whitetail I took. I am much more appreciative these days.

    Being frombnew mexico this makes me very happy. Three things that people here are very very proud of are hunting, fishing and food. Namely chile. Chile goes on everything.

    I had a blow-out on my truck between Clayton and Raton on highway 87 last year while heading to Colorado. we were stranded for 4 hours waiting on a wrecker (No spare and on a Sunday) I cant believe how many pronghorn I'd seen come within 200 yards of us. Being from Oklahoma this was my first time even seeing one. I'd love to go back and hunt around there one day.

      I'll be headed to Raton next month to do a hunt with the Jim Shockey Military Tribute program to try and bag a Pronghorn. Never hunted a PH or in New Mexico. Can't wait!

But still not the same so Steve if you get a chance to take a fan let me know :) Merry Christmas to you and all of youtube people. Have fun today and be safe.

    This is the best hunting video I've ever seen. The meals are killing me. I love how that man took a minute with the goat. He hasn't forgotten what it cost him (the goat)to feed has family. What a culture I'm glad he hasn't lost that.
