- It all pays off in the end for our winter caribou hunting season here in Alaska. The journey took us through some of the state's rugged backcountry where we learned new terrain and witnessed incredible sights. We are thankful for the knowledge gained and the opportunity to harvest such a resilient animal that will provide us nutritious food for many months to come.
We appreciate you tagging along for our Alaskan adventure 😀
Thank you for watching and supporting our channel! 💙

Where have the years gone? Seems like just a short time ago that you two arrived at your little cabin with just a truck, RV and a dream. How far you two have come, TH-cam stars with hundreds of thousands of fans. I think we all love your videos because you are living your dream and sharing it with us.
Thank you so much for this adventure you shared with us!!! Love, love, loved it!😃👍But then again I always enjoy you both! Thanks again❤
all the love from Canada.
We love your comment!❤
U said it.
Does anyone else get tired of this computer voice?
Arielle covered in blood from cleaning a Caribou and says, "Lunchtime !" LOL!! YOU ARE AMAZING!!!
I wanted her to wash her arms so bad I couldn’t concentrate on anything she was saying 😂
!!!
Glad I scanned the comments. I guess I'm not watching this one.
That's was a great look proud and excited
My kind of girl.
I caught that too. Gave me a chuckle.
I like this way of compressing all these days in sequence into a compilation story that ended with a successful hunt. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you 🥰
It made for a great video build up. !!
Absolutely agree! Fantastic vlog.
Spoiler alert! lol
@@mike81989to be fair, the thumbnail sort of gave it away…..
Eric is so lucky to have this woman I mean she just does everything they are just a perfect match for Alaska I just love this podcast
46:28 Arielle with caribou blood up to her elbows, “Lunchtime, right?” 😂
It has to be done if you want to eat them! It reminds me of going to India and seeing the women picking up fresh cow dung with it all the way up to their elbows forming round pies to slap on the side of the house to dry for cooking fuel later! That's what you have to do without wood, and electricity, and bottled gas! I saw they would stack them in a circle up and up forming a beehive looking mound and when it was tall enough covering that with mud to dry to protect the dung cakes from the rainy season. They would cut a small opening to retrieve however many they needed to cook a meal! Just imagine the women from the Western societies having to do this to make dinner!? I laughed as I thought they would send the kids out saying honey grab two cakes for dinner tonight!
Gotta keep that woman! The way she casually talked about her experience whilst casually waving caribou guts, precious!
He be smart never to step out on her!!!!! He'd be very smart. End up as polar bear food, 😅😅😅😅😅
I’m so sorry for your loss of BO ….. I sat here crying he was adorable as is his brother. Do tell are you planning to get new babies it will,be so awesome you are such good parents. Greetings from Spokane I love watching your show.
Right!!
@@Angelaselsthey mentioned in a video some time ago that there are some things they want to do that are not cohesive to having a dog. I’ve heard nothing since that though and they may have changed their minds.
@@Angelasels I didn't hear the part of the loss of Bo. It's hard when a pet is lost.
I’m a lifelong Alaskan, lots of amazing adventures with kids. You two Are. Doing. It. Right. Great vid, beautifully done. ☃
Thank you 😁
Wonderful video! You two are fabulous love your talent and persistance.
Eric tying Arielle's hair back while she's elbow-deep in a caribou carcass is the perfect image of how they are the perfect couple. The way they share the work and lean on each other's strengths; how they support each other, and praise each other, and rely on each other is really quite touching.
Was crushed to hear about everyone fav furry friend crossing the rainbow bridge but was wonderful of you guys to share sweet Bos time with us 😊 lovely videos as always!
Great video...thank you for sharing your real life experiences...no commercials: coffee, AG1, Drevos smoker, Lion Energy ....just Eric and Ariel. You guys get it. You are the best! The Hollars and Sow the Land share life as it happens as well...no commercials.
I completely agree!
You two make the best videos! The stories, photography, and your obvious love of your life and each other is absolutely beautiful♥
The new generation of pioneers. You guys make such a great team . Be safe always . Keep on keeping on. Love your channel and content.
Perfect description! Love how they work so well together!
This long season hunt has made me think how grateful we should be for the food we have. To watch what you go through to harvest that meat is something that modern people usually don't have to do and it puts me in awe of you guys!
Your videos are the best! I watch them twice. Once with my morning coffee then in the evening before bed. I love how you are living and loving your lives.
That is very kind of you ❤
That is the most beautiful scenery out there especially with the snow covered trees they were awesome but the scenic views were absolutely beautiful and the snow mobile rides were exciting all i can say is it is
so very breathtakingly beautiful there and hunting the caribou for food
was a learning experience as always another great video of Alaska
Thanks Arielle and Eric take care.🇺🇲❄🤠❄🇺🇲
Thank you ❤
The trees look like giant snow creatures!! Wow stunning scenery-this was my first Caribou hunt!!! Experiencing things I never thought I would through your channel. Amazing. Thank you.!!!
The most important viewing of my week always look forward to seeing you both
Arielle, I love how you stop to acknowledge the beauty in the details around you! Keep on keeping on!
Arielle, you seem to have such an incredible, almost chidlike, joy with which you experience the world- it's so pure and honest; you live with your whole heart and it's so wonderful that we get to see these glimpses of you shining, like you just laughing at the birds taking flight! There aren't many people out there being their authentic self like that; thanks to both of you for letting us come along on your trips like this :D
Loved every minute, paused at so many wonderful views, you make us all want to come on your adventures, even looked forward to the harvest of the caribou, Alaska is one place I have always wanted to visit, you feed my thirst, I am disabled and won't make it in this lifetime, but I hope we meet up in the next! Thank you both for sharing snippets of your life with us, we appreciate all the work that this takes. Love from Australia xxx
Well done! You are the epitome of good hunters: always careful and law-abiding, and you take down what you can eat, with respect and attention to nature and environment. SO impressive, always.
Thank you guys so much for letting us enjoy your adventure. Enjoy for as long as you can.
Felt sorry for the marten who was caught in the trap . Wish I hadn’t seen that. The other one that was dead looked bad also. Hope the trapper was checking his traps every 24 hours .
We need to get you to 1 million followers!! The best channel on TH-cam!
Congratulations on your first Caribou. What beautiful scenery with the snow covered trees.
Blessings to you both. 😊🇺🇲
We all had subsistance licenses back in the mid 70's and we got a big Caribou on the Alaskan Peninsula. Processed him over the fish hold on our seiner and split the meat between our boat and my skipper Paul Harder's Dad Ole's boat. Utterly fantastic meat!...even the liver was great!
You got yourself a caribou, Eric and Ariel! Awesome Sauce! The scenery is beautiful. Hope you all and Bandit are doing well. Thanks for sharing this adventure!
So cute, Eric says, "Well he's in my spot so we have a problem"😅
Another great video! Somebody is getting very good at capturing some spectacular views that show their love for the beauty of God's creations! I also enjoyed the compiling of several hunting excursions during the season, that showed that every hunt isn't successful, and that in hunting, perseverance is often needed. It also showed how quickly an uneventful hunt can turn into a success story! Way to stay with it, and I'm glad that Eric was able to connect with a solid shot on a nice caribou. I love the teamwork that you two have on getting things done, regardless if it's during hunting, cutting wood, cooking, or construction projects. You two work very well together, and that's one of the reasons I like your channel so well. God bless you two, and I'll be looking forward to your next video!
It’s obvious the care and time you took to film, produce and post this video. I know all of your viewers appreciate it. What a super experience, one most of us will never have! Congratulations!
What a video! Vsual whiplash!!!. Weeks of hunting compressed into less than an hour and then suddenly, Eric gets a Caribou. There were wolves sneaking around and tarmigan flying all over the place. Ariel having a chat while gutting. And trees that look like someone blew foam insulation all over the forest. .Hundreds of miles on the snow machines. loved it. I feel like an Urban Wimp now. Great editing job. Suzi
Ariel (with blood on her arms up to her elbows) lunch! Thumbs up hahahahhahaaha perfect!
What a fantastic video. This is definitely my favorite channel
I'm so happy right now - a nice long video from my favorite channel ❤
Congrats on that nice bull. I loved Arielle taking on field dressing like a pro, saving the edible organs and all. That's a lot of food and one always gets dirty making good eats. Just got to get in there and do what's necessary. I love your channel and I'm sure I'm not the only one that cried for that good boy, Bo. What a beautiful life you live.
Awesome couple & awesome life!
Fun and beautiful video! Thanks for taking me along. Be safe. KC Don 😉
I'd never get anything done. The views are so distracting!!! Just fabulously beautiful!❤
Oh my this is so me somedays 💗
@SimpleLivingAlaska I can imagine! You are both inspiring, and I love how authentic and upfront you are about your day to day journey. Thank you again for sharing your lives in Alaska with us dreamers!💗
This video is how I had imagined all of Alaska looked during the winter! White and wild! I kinda felt sorry for the trapped Martin, and I've never seen one in the wild. All your time and efforts finally paid off. Great job!
Can't wait to see your trailcam footage 🐺🦊🫎🐇🦅🐿🐦⬛
Hopefully the bears don't mess with the cams they do that🐻
Wow again! Picking up diner on the way back was fun to watch. Just can't get enough of your Alaska. Don't ever stop.
Thank you both for all you do so that your many viewers can get a taste of Alaska. Hunting and fishing trips are always exciting thanks to you both. Work on the homestead and cooking and the beautiful scenery footage just makes it all complete. You two are absolutely amazing.
I'm glad that trip worked out well for you. Thanks for the adventure!
FANTASTIC ❤

WOW the landscape is Beautiful !!!!!
What an adventure! So glad your perseverance, as you aptly mentioned, Eric, paid off! Arielle your sentiments at the end about the balance of understanding and respect you both have for these hearty animals, their beauty and endurance, but also your appreciation for the sustenance they provide. Looking forward to your caribou recipes!
Thank you, I absolutely agree and so very thankful for their gratitude to nature for providing sustenance and beauty.
Thanks for taking us along! What beautiful country.
Your caribou hunt made me envious. So happy you were able to get one. Sure there will be future videos showing you making caribou steaks. It will be most interesting to see the trail cam pictures next year. Glad you were able to take Bandit along on the trip. Be safe. Till next time...
Those are some Dr. Seuss-looking trees!
Love watching the older vlogs now with bo in them
We miss him very much too ❤
Great video. You guys are awesome. Thanks for taking us along. So beautiful.
Great video. Thank you for taking us along.
Opening with the most beautiful snow scenes ever shown anywhere. Looked like a painting with the snow so thick on the trees.
Naturally Flocked Christmas trees!!! LOVE It!!!
Arielle & Eric,
Congrats on the Caribou. All the hard work paid off.... and as always, "You guys rock" 😁❤❤
I always love all your videos but there’s something really special about this one. Your tenacity is inspiring. Congratulations on the hunt.
Yay! So happy you guys got your caribou. Every year you will become more and more skilled at finding and dispatching them.
Congratulations guys! Eric you will tackle anything and get it fixed you are amazing. Love ❤y’all!
Eric is amazing. That dude can do anything.
OMG this was so good and I didn't want it to end and I could have easily watched another hour. You guys are unmatched when it comes to anything Alaska.
Love yall! So glad you were able to get some food!
Many blessings to both of yall, such an exciting video.Great job you two. GODBLESS
I love how you're all in the cavity of the caribou and getting the organs out and then you say..."Lunchtime right?" 😆 🤣
Sounds like a true hunter. ❤
Hahaha.. "tastes like cat food" had me cracking up 😂! Just love your channel! Thanks!❤
I stopped watching this video when you came upon the live Marten still trapped in a steel trap. I wish you had never shown that part of your trip. It brought back terrible memories as a teenager when I trapped a red fox (alive) with the first and last trap I ever set. Needless to say I had to dispense with the fox. Afterwards I received $45 for the fur but I could never trap or hunt again. I guess if it came down to survival then I could still hunt and fish but since that morning so long ago I want no part of it. My wife and I have enjoyed watching your videos of your Alaska journey for several years but this is one video I will never finish.
Damn i feel sad for that Marten having to suffer in pain and agony and hunger in that trap for god knows how many days...how is it legal still ???
Just imagine if it was your dog or a cat
How is Marten different from our normal pet ? Just because he is wild animal ?
We really enjoy tagging along on your Alaskan adventures, WE LOVE IT AND love you guys Ariel and Eric . You guys make it seem so easy and so fun in the middle of the tundra . Hunting and fishing so much fun xo
Living your best life guys, thanks for taking us along.
I generally like your videos but It was sad to see that Martin stuck in a trap. He seemed like he was in a lot of pain. Cruel, I had to stop watching.
Some years back I read that caribou or reindeer (european name) travel in a very particular way. Firstly they always follow a trail but they travel in separate groups. Females or does always go first in a large group and then the bachelors males follow some days later in another group. So it makes sense you didn’t see any bucks with the does and that you found two males along the same trail after the does had passed through! Exciting stuff!
Awesome hunt! Congratulations. So good to see Bandit, he looked so cozy and warm tucked into his blanket. Eric the rule should be whoever gets the spot first gets to keep it and I'm positive Bandit agrees with me. 😅
Another absolutely breathtakingly beautiful and amazing adventure! Well done you two! I love each and every one of your videos. Thank you so much for sharing your lives with all of us!❤❤❤
We laughed when Arial said lunchtime. Congrats on your caribou and meat for the freezer!! Sooooo enjoying those amazing view and beautiful photography!!
I love Ariel “It tastes like cat food” but she kept eating. Love your show.
And Eric agreed with her,,, it tastes like cat food !!
The sound of the wind makes me feel sooo cold even though I’m tucked under nice warm blankets while I watch you two adventurers on TH-cam. Oh, the scenery is stunning!
Thank you so much for sharing this experience with us. Wow perseverance really does pay off. Enjoy the fruits of your hard work.
Well, we are happy for you. We live in Northern MI. during hunting season. And south east MI. during the warm months. I had a unique opportunity at the end of season. A Xmas tree farmer had a white tail deer problem w/crop damage permits. So the nieghbor & I put 3 more deer in each of our freezers. And we finished 2/23/24. Tags expired the 29 th of February. All good, freezer is stuffed and God willing I'll be here for next season. Enjoy your harvest.
Following you two since the beginning and was waiting for this day: first Caribou! The full season video really gave the sense of the journey and makes the ending more satisfying. Congrats to both of you.
Now I cannot help but think I will make some Dutch oven elk stew this weekend. As a kid in Alaska caribou was always my favorite stew.🎉❤🎉
I really enjoy watching your adventures and to watch Arielle just dive in there and then bring up lunch afterwards is just 100% awesomeness. What a woman and you are a lucky man! Keep it up guys :)
Good Afternoon Your Video is exactly what I needed Today They Always Make Me Feel Happy 😊🙏🌹🥀💐🕊️🌻☕❤️💜 Ya Ya Ya You got one. Some Good Eating Now.😊👍✅
Can't wait for the Caribou processing video, the animal processing... Process, is some of my favorite content yall do. Its also something I love when I go hunt, it's tedious and a long day(esp when it's multiple animals) but it's probably the most rewarding part of hunting when you see all of the meat and other by products packaged/canned in your freezer/pantry.
What a beautiful compilation of caribou hunting! The scenery is so beautifully spectacular! I thought Eric was going to hit that tree for sure.! thank you for sharing your adventures with all of us.
Beautiful scenery and the snow! Here in MN we've had very little snow...8 inches. Thanks for filming on my birthday February 8th!
Congrats Guys! Before you know it, it will be gardening and fishing season! I started planting, yesterday. It's going to be a blessed year. 😊
I shot my first Caribou off the Taylor Highway just to the side of Mount Fairplay. I sure love that part of Alaska! A very good friend of mine owns a really nice cabin in Eagle, AK. It's always fun to drive up there in the summer and hang out along the Yukon River! I have also done the "Trek Over the Top" snowmachine rally riding from Tok, AK to Dawson, Yukon Territory. That was a hoot!! -40 the whole trip.
You guys are fearless. A hundred miles from each other, light waning, cold, snowing. Mercy.
Well another great adventure and you did not disappoint your audience, you never do. Exciting and action packed. That caribou is a big undertaking, so glad you got him. Good food for the tummy and freezer. Beautiful scenery, those pine trees were absolutely breathtaking while covered in that snow.⛄️ Can’t wait to see the photos off of the trail cameras. You two amaze me. Please keep up the powerful homesteading that you do, it’s amazing, don’t think I could have eaten the snack that tasted like cat food though. Eric is such a good shot and Ariel just jumps right in no matter the task, what a team. Love watching you guys. Be safe out there. ❤🐇☮️
L
So glad that you two are out and about. Our family is stuck at home with colds. Looks like fun! 🌞🐾🐕
