Oh man, coming back to this as 2023 approaches gives us the sinking feeling that we are just trying to chase nostalgia as the cruel march of time sands down the number of family members we have, we've all experienced having three close family members die over the course of three years, right?
For me it's any of their traditional let's plays and Ego Review. Today I felt like putting this on to wind down for the evening but I'm thinking I'm going to put on Dreamweb when I go to bed.
As for why Eric Chahi is absent from this, according to Wikipedia: "After Future Wars was released in 1989, Chahi had the choice to either work on Cuisset's next game, Operation Stealth, or create his own game." He chose to create his own game, which turned out to be a little game called Another World. Just imagine, he could have been working on THIS instead of single-handedly creating one of the best game of all time...
I remember playing this game as a kid and eventually (after years) getting to the end only to die because I didn’t pick up that fucking rubber band from several hours earlier. Seriously, that has to be one of the cheapest things in any game ever made. It’s like looking for a needle in a haystack when you aren’t aware that a needle even exists let alone that you _require_ one... whilst also avoiding sharks.
Coloradoguy234 Good news is they said, specifically Gabriel on twitter, that they are bored of the let's drown out series. Hopefully that means they will do more let's plays now.
Now that Let's Drown Out is over, people are complaining on those videos that they want more Let's Drown Out. "Fans want something new that's exactly the same." - Gabriel Morton, 2014
The best part was loading this up with the Amiga's extra memory so that the robotic Amiga speech synthesizer would read all of the dialogue. "HALT! YOU ARE NOT EMM ARR MAR-TIN-EZZ" And then you'd try to click through the dialogue and it would crash. Those were the days eh
Still to this day my favourite Yahtzee lets play. Cos lets face it, if there's any genre that perfectly fits the Yahtzee and Gabe treatment, it's the Spy genre and Bond as a character
can you imagine being a fan of these videos and then coming into class one day to find Gabe is your teacher? I'm not sure if it would be the most wonderful or most terrible experience
I read the Extra Punctuation today, read about some LP channel "Tossbag Bunkercunt" was doing every once in a while, and I immediately went to the blog and here to such a warm intro that my day is officially not bad anymore.
"Oh yes, left me off here please. This place looks lovely, well seen enough of that, lets go back" that is totally me when my family takes me on vacations and want to go sightseeing
1:11:05 i can't help but think there was a missed opportunity for Otto to win the fight because he looks exactly like John and the player unknowingly controls him for the last bit of the game. probably a bad ending or something :P
Wait... when John and the woman got thrown off the boat, Uber-Guevara threw them off first and the rocks tied to their feet followed. I don't think that's how it works.
It is somehow comforting to learn that I am not the only one that slugged through those damn rat mazes only to find myself at the end of the game and not have the godforsaken rubber band required to finish it!
I always loved when a game's manual had a little in-universe booklet thing. The original Assassin's Creed had one and even pointed out how you always die when you touch water. The first 3 Sly Cooper games had that too but when one of my friends gave me Sly 3 as a gift it was pre-owned and lacked the manual.
What always sticks out in my mind is the manual for Donkey Kong Country. It had a more in depth story, details on all environments, characters, and items. Best part was Cranky Kong commenting in character on everything in the manual.
Donald Neuhaus - correct, but Langley, VA borders DC and the CIA headquarters is literally just across the river from DC. It's the Washington metro area. I'm not saying you're wrong, but it barely qualifies as a mistake.
Actually, I think the "life bracelets" they mention at like 26:00 or so are those inflatable....wing things? For learning to swim? They're sort of like inflatable rings that go onto your upper arms. Maybe that?
water wings? I can see how they may have meant that but those aren't bracelets and I think they were hung up on the use of the word bracelet which implies use at the wrist.
At 1:11:00 I find it hilarious that the guards continue to operate the computers even though the base is going to self destruct and Glames is escaping.
1:15:46 There's a US-based South African actor and film director called Daniel Bonjour. He was in the Hitman and Final Fantasy series as well as the Walking Dead TV show.
The booklet for Professor Layton and Pandora's Box had a pull-out train ticket that you could use to help solve one of the puzzles. I thought that was quite cool at the time :D
That baggage claim area taught me a valuable lesson. From now on, whenever I have anything else like this, I shall go ahead and finish it with the knowledge that it’s like I did nothing.

fun fact: one of the main people in Delphine Software and the designer of Flashback, Paul Cuisset, is now co-owner of VectorCell, and was the director of Amy, the survival-horror game from 2012 that nobody liked. he's come so far.
I'd imagine itd be an absolutely terrible idea to train military or intelligence agents to not react to sudden, loud noises... like... being able to quickly and reflexively react to a sudden loud noise (like, I dunno, an explosion or gunfire) is actually a very beneficial aspect of our evolution. And it's ESPECIALLY handy for someone who, because of their work, would be much more likely to run into such things.
