    It obviously is the weakest Chzo Mythos game. There's even a bug in the main menu where it quite clearly states commentary is off.

    Incidentally, I know this game gets a lot of flack as the worst of the series, but there is one thing I like about it, compared to 5 Days a Stranger:
    In 5DAS, characters would periodically appear or disappear depending on when the plot wanted them to be there. Like at the start, the whole house is empty except for the room with Phil, and then the whole house is empty except for the room with Simone, and after that, Jim appears. That whole time, the living room is empty despite the fact that that's where everyone is supposedly gathering, but they don't actually appear there until you meet everyone.
    On the other hand, in 7DAS, you can meet anyone at any given time (except the dead ones) and talk to them. Everyone always exists and don't just vanish when they finish their scenes. Sure, they don't always have anything interesting to say, but at least Yahtzee put the effort in to giving the player the opportunity to interact with people outside of plot requirements. I thought that was a nice touch.

    To be fair, the ending twist is brilliantly foreshadowed by the opening soliloquy.

  • @0zeroburn

    I think the whole " they didn't have food in 5 days" would have been an interesting thing to acknowledge in game, imagine being stuck in a house with a group of people, no escape, no food, for a week? Gives the desire to escape a whole new level of desperation.

    I've read on the subject of what happens if a person were to be ejected into space, with no suit (just trying to be informative; not corrective). If that person exhaled every bit of air from their lungs right before being subjected to the vacuum, they could survive up to 2 minutes before they die of asphyxia. If you held your breath, your lungs would literally burst inside your chest. The most immediate threat is actually being cooked by solar radiation, and if you were rescued you would most likely have sustained 2nd degree sun burns. Space, though very cold, has no gaseous medium to conduct heat away from the body, so the cold is actually kinda down in the list of things killing you. You would also immediately start bleeding from the eyes and mouth, which would make any chance of getting back into a craft very difficult.

    • @darkstarmike85
      @darkstarmike85 9 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Michael LeDuc PS: If a person were to die in the vacuum of space, and their body were allowed to just drift for a few weeks, they would swell to ridiculous proportions; I think its something like twice the normal volume. If I remember the journal correctly, it has to due with water trying to separate out from the tissue.

    1:00:45 Trouble with cling wrap is it tends to stretch under pressure. Assuming you don't lose pressure through gaps in the layers of cling wrap, it will likely stretch to the point where the internal pressure is pretty close to vacuum. Pairs with a less ductile supporting structure, it could probably work. Inflatable space modules are being developed on that principle

    Beating on a fully decomposed horse, but I was a little disappointed neither of them payed mind to how ridiculous it is for the knowledge to send SOS signals to be restricted to two of the crew out any number greater than two. The fact that the First Officer, who’s responsibilities include taking over for the Captain should they be unable to continue their duties, isn’t informed on basic ship functions trusted to the Captain.
    More to the point, why is there any need to obfuscate such information from the crew? Do they think the others are going to pull pranks making fake distress calls?
    Is this some new Federation Policy made because 2/3 of their crews kept abusing it or something?

    I can see 7 Days a Skeptic being remade as a mod for System Shock 2. Furthermore, I can see an installment in the Trilby/Chzo Mythos being done as a mod for the first Deus Ex. Considering recent creative mods in those two games, like System Shock Infinite and The Nameless Mod, I can see Yahtzee's design aesthetic and knack for storytelling would make of good mods for those games too.

    Looking back on it, this game actually does have a cool atmosphere and sense of horror, but in terms of plot and characters it's a slipshod mess. I think it would have made more sense for the protagonist to have been the engineering officer, which would have justified how he ends up fixing everything while removing the problem of Adam sitting around like a bum.

    I think Alpha Protocol did dialogue quite well. You got a short time to pick your tone, and then it went from there... rather than topic-structure. It also then tied into a "how much this character likes you" system. Good game, a little flawed, but very clever and lots of fun once you get a feel for it.

    After watching Star Trek TNG, the character of the psychologist makes perfect sense now. He's very much a send-up of Deanna Troi, like in the times when he fails to adequately counsel people who are troubled, or gets intrusive with the other crewmembers. Imagine how Troi would act if she faced the same situation as this game. It would be freaky to have the possessed mangled corpses of Worf and Picard chasing her around.

    Actually, explosive decompression is apparently a myth. Remember that you're only going through a pressure difference of 1 atm, which while incredibly uncomfortable is not instantaneously fatal. In fact, if not in EVA gear in space, it is better to exhale fully as holding your breath will cause gas to start entering the bloodstream unrestricted, causing bubbles in the blood, similar to the ailment 'the bends' that divers suffer when resurfacing too fast (i.e. changing the pressure around their body too quickly).
    However, you would likely die of asphyxiation long before any pressure-related problems caused you issue.

    • @Jrez
      @Jrez 9 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      ace5762 Yes, I scuba occasionally and at depth you can get up to 3 atmospheres. So, while it could be extremely painful and aside from the fact that there's nothing to breathe in space, moving from 1 atmosphere to 0 instantly could be said to be the equivalent of moving from 40ft deep to surface instantly. It's not necessarily instantly fatal if you know how to properly surface rapidly in an emergency.
