In this second episode we pay our respects at the grave of Spike Milligan in Winchelsea, visit the ancient Sussex town of Rye and enjoy some great food and history. We sadly spend our last night in our little red Nissan NV200 camper van but cook up a gourmet two course send off meal!

Spike Milligan's parents and brother lived in Orange Grove Road, Blackwall, near Woy Woy, on the Central Coast just North of Sydney. I also grew up near Woy Woy and still live close by. When he visited his parents he would often be seen around the town, He famously called Woy Woy "Australia's above ground cemetery" due to the large population of retirees.
Little Red has done you proud with some great adventures, now onwards to even more adventures ....

This is a wonderful video, showing us the Town of Rye, but also being a Farewell to the Little Red Camper. And you did it proud with one last Special Meal, which you allowed us to celebrate with you. Rye is lovely, the Mermaid Street is gorgeous. I'm always amazed that buildings built several centuries ago are still here and the ones we build today break after several years 😂. Goodbye little red camper, it was a pleasure 👍. Thank you Carol and Ken, this was a beautiful farewell ❤️

Enjoyed the last video of Little red😢 That bread and butter pudding looked mouth watering one of my favourite dessert. Looking forward to your travels in the new van.
To solve your lumpy butter problem, get a 250 gram pack of butter and chop it up into a blender, then add 100mls of light olive oil or Rapeseed oil. Blend it together until smooth then out in the fridge. You have made ‘Spreadable’ butter without any of the rubbish they put in it to make it cheaper.
That’s a great tip. Will have to try that when we get home. Thanks 🙂👍

Ride on Little Red
Hi Carole and Ken The trip to Rye reminded me of time spent very many years ago when I did my training at Ashford PTC. The food was so appalling so in the evening went for a drive to Rye and got some pie and chips on the way back. Kind regards Crawford

A great wee trip for your last spin in the little red van, such fun!! Loved your bread pudding idea. I made one late at night about a week ago, and after usually using raisins instead of sultanas, found a part open bag of fruit cake mixture (dried fruits, with glacé cherries and peel), so put in a couple of handfuls. I also use soft brown sugar (much healthier than white sugar, try it in your coffee... not so sweet and better taste) and creates a lovely caramelised flavour, but missed the cinnamon though. Still was a taste treat, like your own creation, like French Cinnamon Toast. Just needs some clotted cream!! Had a clotted cream icecream at Bristol waterfront in recent years, was sublime!! Spike Milligan. That takes me back about 46 years! I worked in television, and he was a guest on the show. When my sister heard he was coming in she wangled getting herself in, and he and she sat at the piano singing and having a really good laugh, during the break. Big sister sat aloof up in the control room. I had actually forgotten, until she reminded me of it a couple of years back..❤️

Watching as per on a quiet Sunday morning with a cuppa tea 🍵 and dunking biscuits 😋 'nothing stays the same & time to move on' 😊😊😊 very very eloquently put Sir! 😊😊 4 years ..lots of travelling ..made for great content on the TH-cam channel👌BUT...now you're in a bigger van with toilet facilities etc etc i bet you wouldn't want to go back 🤔🤔🤔🤔 as we get older our needs differ too & this is an example! Be a good little campervan for someone that's for sure & they know it has been driven properly & not thrashed & will be bloody clean & spotless inside knowing how you both have excellent living standards! Hope everything is ok with the new acquisition??? 🎉

I've been looking forward to this one as it was filmed in Rye my home town which I left in 2014...
Rye is always quieter in the winter months during the day.
Last time I was in that church I was down that way for a Christening.

Oh in that archway there was a monk bricked up alive in there and he went slowly mad and was called the gobbling monk. Years ago. Also one of those passageways in the mint there is a step with a number on and we all believed it was unlucky to stand on.@LifeistooshortCK

It is sad that the little red one is now being retired, but the consolation is that a slightly larger white one will take its place. It's hard to choose which video you like best when all are good, but I still have to say that when you parked the car by the river in southern Bergen - Norway and took the tram into my childhood city, I felt my heart beat extra hard. Thank you for giving us so many great memories. PS! The bread & butter pudding made me take a trip to the kitchen. Thanks a lot 😉!

Just had weird idea, I know a common option, but thinking of possible name/s for your new van. I was reading some historic UK slang regarding the Police (eg:...Candy...) and ended up reading a bit on the 'Avengers' (John Steed & Emma Peel), who had a behind the scenes superior officer in Whitehall called 'Mother'. This read as a possible option, and works in conversation in family and also slightly comedic, "...going back to 'Mother'...". Take care & stay safe. Kia Ora from New Zealand. 💜💜
